EXPENSIVE FOOD, BAD SERVICE, OWNER DOESNT CARE! :( Nothing could have prepared me for our dining experience one evening. We were seated and waited quite a while for drink orders. Next we ordered a appetizer, onion rings, and while I guess they were okay (the few of them we got, about 6), we were never given plates to put them on or sauce of any kind to dip them in. By the time we were finished eating the onion rings (about 10 minutes), the server came by with a stack of plates. Our drinks were all empty by this time, so we though perhaps she might go get refills. No such luck. She took our food order. All of us ordered your sweet tea pork. Our out of town friends were a little confused about well done vs. medium rare that is chef recommended. The server could not really provide anything to help in this decision besides some inferior looks sent their way. We continue to sit with empty glasses for another short while before we finally snag another server and ask them to find our server or provide refills. We wait what seems like an eternity for our food. Having had the same entree many times in the past, I would say something was different this evening. The presentation was completely off. It looked like a high school lunch room - everything was plopped into a fraction of the round plate. No 3/4 circle of thin pieces circling the plate. No attempt at all to make it look pretty. When someone pays $19 for an entree.... I guess they just expect more. Am I wrong here? Id be doing you a disservice if I didnt share what happened next although is it not very pleasant. None of us were impressed. Compared to previous visits and the same entree, something has changed. The cuts were thicker and the temperature was off - almost cold. Out of the 4 in our party, two of us had diarrhea immediately after getting home, and the two out of town guests vomited mid-trip. Not the quiet evening we had planned by any stretch of the imagination, especially considering we all had to board a plane for Chicago the following morning. I would say we had bad luck. Perhaps we just got a bad server. Maybe a good server having a bad night? Trouble was, we heard the table next to us and the table directly behind us having the same sort of concerns. Long wait times, food unsatisfactory, no service from servers. Both tables had different servers and it appeared the customers ordered some of the same and some different entrees. Of the 3 tables (including us), there were no management visits or attempts to make corrections. The other two parties had public arguments with their servers. I didnt feel it appropriate to have such a confrontation in public or in front of our out of town guests. *** I e-mailed the owner the above experience (twice actually) as well as this portion below, but he never responded. What a jerk! Im not sure if the many, many problems we experienced this evening were a fluke or if your restaurant is going "down hill." Id love to hear your feedback as to which you think is the case. I know sometimes things go wrong, but not all of these things -- and not all on the same visit. I know in my line of work, when we loose a customer, we usually never know the reasons. Id like you to at least know our reasons and hope you can understand -- I have a hard time making the trip back to sprig after our most recent experience.

Sprig is the type of place you expect to find in the Decatur Square, not nestled in a strip mall on busy Lavista Rd. Owners Jen and Tony Tiberia champion the farm to table movement in an area primarily inhabited by dive-y bar food joints, which, until recently, havent made the area much of a dining out destination. Now, the important stuff. The food at Sprig is beyond delicious. They make everything on site (even their ketchup!) and they offer a diverse enough menu to please everyone, including a gluten-free option for most dishes they serve. And what would a farm-to-table menu be without also being supportive of local businesses? They source as much as they can regionally and work with sustainable farms and dairies. They also have an amazing alcohol selection--because who wants a bone-in pork chop with mint roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato squash, onion bordelaise and a sorghum drizzle if you cant wash it down with a local craft beer? Oh, and did I mention that theyre super family friendly? They keep a locker at the front of the restaurant stocked with toys to keep your kids entertained, and they make the most gourmet chicken nuggets your child will ever eat. They also regularly do percentage nights to support area schools, and participate in the annual Oak Groove Festival that brings the entire neighborhood together for food and music. So, if you havent been to Sprig yet, whats your excuse?

*Update:* In the past 2 years, Sprig has slipped. Service and the vibe are still good, but each meal I have had this year has been less satisfying, to the point that I do not plan to return. Chicken in a red wine sauce tonight was so overcooked that it must have been prepared before noon, and kept on a hot plate for 7 hours. Expecting the crisp, bright green beans I had in the past, I was disappointed by mushy, overcooked "Southern style" beans. I am lucky enough to live only 2 miles from Sprig, and over the past 2 years it has become my favorite place to eat out. My wife and I have never experienced anything but outstanding service, and perfectly prepared food, made from locally sourced ingredients. The bar staff really cares how they make mixed drinks, and at one time I set a goal of (responsibly) working my way through Sprigs cocktail menu — but they keep changing it, so I gave up. Of the mixed drinks that I have tried, Sourwood Smash is my favorite. To take advantage of available ingredients, the menu changes seasonally, so there is always something new, although some things, such as the outstanding onion rings and the Sprig Burger are always on the menu.

Ive lived in the area for 20+ years and to my disappointment, I only tried Sprig for the first time last night. I LOVED IT!!! I could not decide what to eat because the entire menu looked amazing. I also wanted a vegetable plate because of the selection of veggies. I settled on the chipotle shrimp lettuce wraps as an appetizer (very spicy) and they were exceptional. I then had a small quinoa salad as my meal with no added meat. It was so delicious. My friend had the trout and supplemented the side with the roasted brussel sprouts and heirloom tomatoes. I sampled it and it was some of the best trout and brussel sprouts that I have ever tasted and she loved it as well. I will definitely be back several times and hope I have the same experience. Overall, the service was good too.

Had a GREAT conversation with the owner Jennifer and really enjoyed the time she spent and the lunch itself.... So Much So, I went back for dinner the same day! They have a wonderful space here and excellent food, staff and concept. It would be a GREAT choice for "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives" so please everyone VOTE FOR SPRIG to have Guy come out and shoot a show there! Jennifer, I will see you again Very Soon!
