I have been a HUGE fan, proponent, and frequent customer of Spice over the last few years. However, the last 3 times I have been in there (within the last 4 weeks or so), the air conditioning has not been operational. I have been told over and over the owner is having it repaired, but obviously this is not happening. I have seen other reviews that say the same thing and the owner responds it is being repaired. Obviously, he is not being truthful because it has been down for weeks. I expect the barrage of other good reviews in the last few weeks have been from friends who are trying to offset the "No A/C" reviews. I am a General Contractor who does renovations and I can tell you I could have that system repaired within a couple of days and it has been AT LEAST 3 or 4 weeks this A/C has been out. I feel sorry for the employees working there. The last straw that made me write this 1-star review was last week when it was 92 degrees outside (with a "feels like" temp of 101). I went in for a late lunch and could not believe the A/C was still out...the doors were open to the patio and it was almost 90 degrees in the restaurant. I was sweating like a pig by the time I got finished with lunch. The bartender and manager apologized profusely and they were very friendly, but you could tell they were embarrassed about it when I brought to their attention it had been out for several weeks and I had no idea how they were operating in those conditions. While I was there, probably 12-15 potential customers walked in and walked right back out because it was stifling hot inside the restaurant. There were 2 other separate parties of 1 guy having food and drinks that were sitting near me...it was the first time in for both of them. And both said they loved the restaurant but would not be back until the A/C was repaired. To the owner: if you are planning on staying in business, this A/C needs to be repaired...the working conditions are ridiculous with it being that hot, not to mention your patrons all look like they have been working on a chain gang from sweating so much. I will update my review to a 5 star once the repairs have been done...because this place is normally great, but with no A/C any restaurant is a 1-star in the middle of a Georgia summer. Difficult to enjoy your food when you expect Satan to walk out of the back at any moment because it is hot as Hades in there. Make sure you call before you go to see if they have A/C yet...as you can see from the owners response, he is still spewing the same response he was almost 6 weeks ago. NOTE To Owners Response: If you were that worried about the A/C and customers having a nice environment to dine in, it would not have been out for going on 6 weeks AT LEAST! Your poor employees and customers! This smells like going out of business to me. I DID in fact speak with management when I was there last and let them know I was aware it had been out forever and when I pressed them on the issue, they said they really did not know when it would be fixed...the owner just kept telling them it would be fixed. The gig is up Mr. James L...get it fixed already.

The food was tasty, but there is room to improve in a lot of areas. My husband and I ordered 4 dishes, the cheese board, pulled pork sliders, Marguheritta pizza, and loaded chips. Presentation- 2 They tried. The cheese board was confused. There were four cheeses, haphazardly arranged, with Ritz crackers (Im not kidding) on top. They included 3 toppings; whole seedless grapes, orange marmalade, and honeyed walnuts. They included some toasted sliced French bread, speared into a stack by a sprig of rosemary. The sliders looked okay, but the bottom of the buns were soggy. The loaded chips just looked sad. Like someone alone in a Saturday night just dumped dip on some ruffles. The pizza looked good, though my husband noted it was a tad dry. Taste- 5 Oh my goodness this food tasted amazing. The cheeses were all sharp (could have used a brie to change up from the Havarti, dill, cheddar, and vino) with sweet toppings. The pulled pork melted in your mouth. The chips, though they looked sad, were good. And the pizza, though dry, was still tasty. Staff - 5 The staff were great. They were helpful and friendly. Atmosphere - 3 What is this place trying to be? It has a fine dining vibe (with the fully dressed up wait staff and prices) but also had large sport TVs. And the a/c was oddly cool. Possible improvements 1) Add some savory toppings and some soft cheeses to the cheese tray 2) Learn how to plate food 3) You dont need to import your flour. (Pizza dryness). There are plenty of perfectly good fine flours that will make amazing authentic pizza. 4) Shrink your menu (please, there is something to be said for too much of a good thing) 5) Adjust your prices. My cheese tray was $10.95 and my sliders were $8.95. Swap those prices (because that cheese was not that expensive) In summary, this business is confused, but they have an amazing chef. By all means, try it. But I do hope they can improve. Because they could be an excellent restaurant.

Please know…I hardly ever leave negative reviews. I prefer to give praise. My friend and I walked in on a Monday evening. The place was not crowded. Because of the topic we knew we were going to discuss, we wanted to get a table with some privacy, so we asked for a booth. The hostess asked the manager about “Table 63 [or something like that].” The manager said no and told us she could seat us at a table, but we’d have to wait for a booth. We said, “What about 63?” The manager said, “That’s a six-top and I don’t seat two people at a six-top. You can have a table or wait for a smaller booth.” It wasn’t so much what she said as how she said it. No smile, no sincerity, certainly no apology for not accommodating our request. We asked to speak to the manager. She said, “I am the manager, I am the boss, it’s my decision.” We asked for a way to contact the owner. She said, “I can’t give you that information. I’ve been told not to.” As for the food, I have no idea since we left and won’t be returning. If you own Spice, leave a comment…I’d love to mend this and enjoy your restaurant once you hire a new manager. The hostess, by the way, seemed like she was mortified by her manager’s attitude.

Spice was a nice place to have lunch. Its not terribly busy at 2PM, and the atmosphere is dark and really chill. It seems like a great place to go to at night. Their food lacks the spice you would expect it to have though. Everything was a little bland. The smoked salmon spread was alright...lacked the smoked flavor I expected but it was creamy. Blackened tilapias were definitely not spicy, but I was warned before I got them (Yes, I asked...my fault). I also ended up getting the Shrimp Flatbread to-go. It wasnt bad. The shrimp on it was pretty good; great size. The flatbread itself reminded me of the pizzas I used to get at school lunch though. You know the ones you put ranch dressing on. On a positive note though, I went on a Tuesday. They were doing half off the flatbreads, so it was a relatively cheap choice. Honestly wish I wouldve ate one there instead of the tacos because some of these pics on Yelp look AWESOME. The place isnt bad though. The service was fine. The drink tasted great and was stronger than I had planned for, hence ordering a flatbread to-go.
