Honest Review: Please read. My business decided to do something nice for our employees and order breakfast for about 50 people. Here is how it went. I will organize it into three sections...operations, food, and customer service. Youre welcome. Operations review: The entire ordering process was a complete fiasco. Absolutely terrible from start to finish. Many items were missing and required a second phone call in an attempt to replace what was missing. This was a failure as well which required a THIRD phone call to try and repair the order. Fast forward three hours...the entire business has been talking about how awful and underwhelming everything was this morning. I am not joking when I say that absolutely every employee is disappointed in what I am going to refer to as "The Great Breakfast Letdown of 2015", courtesy of Metro Diner in St. Augustine. Food review: Having ordered just about everything on the menu at once and seeing each item up close and personal I will save you the time and money and inform you that their menu selection is completely pitiful. The food is bland, the portions are mostly small and a joke. For example, the Surf and Turf has the misleading description of a massive and delicious meal. This is not the case...because upon opening my Styrofoam box of sadness, I was presented with an adorably cute biscuit with a tiny little steak perched on top hiding underneath an even sadder egg filled with despair and loneliness. I could not be more disappointed. Customer service review: I had the displeasure of speaking with two rude female employees on the phone, one of whom dropped the call in lieu of connecting me to a manager in order to fix the order. The "manager" i spoke with was unprofessional, standoffish, and accused me of being clueless and all but lying about the ordeal. Hostesses = Rude. Managers = unprofessional. I had no interaction with the cooks behind the counter. Im not upset at this fact. Overall Impression: The one star that I am forced to give this business is more than I even think they deserve. If this review had a rating system based on something more deserving such as "mounds of dirt"...I would give this business "5 mounds of dirt". Absolute crap. This business needs to be audited extensively, revamped, and retrained. I would start with management, because their piss poor attitudes probably trickled down the entire chain and ruined this location. RECAP: Your intelligent decision to read a review before visiting this restaurant has saved you time, emotional tragedy, and money. Go somewhere else. Go to any other place in town as long as it doesnt contain the words " Metro diner". This is considered a business fail. Thank you for reading.

Before moving to St. Augustine, I had never heard of Metro diner. Wow, I was certainly missing out on some great food. They serve what I call " home cooking". It is the kind of food cooked and prepared that I often eat at home. For example, the fries were actually cut from real potatoes. The prices are reasonable. Ive only been twice and was very hungry both times. As hungry as I was, the portions were so large I brought home food both times. On my 2 visits, I had 2 different waitresses. Both of them gave me outstanding service. They were very knowledgeable of the food and made great selections.Sitting outside, we were off the beaten path but still received great attentive service. Our drinks never fell below the halfway mark. There is an inside and outside dining option. I am cold natured, so I havent visited inside yet. Im not saying that it was cold inside, I have no idea one way or the other. Wheelchair access is very easy. They have a ramp that meets you close to the handicap parking spots and takes you up to the corner of the restaurant. Outdoor dining is very easy to navigate with a chair and I would assume so for individuals that are blind, uses a scooter, canes or crutches. On my next visit, I will take a trip indoors to check it out and update this review.

Great flavorful diner food. We had a wonderful server named Dawn. My husband and I were here on a visit to St Augustine (we come every year on our anniversary). I ordered the Shrimp and Grits Yummy! The grits are cooked and make into a patty. I havent had them this way before but were quite tasty. The sauce is made of a creamy base with cheese ham n peppers. Hubby ordered the Bold City Burger. Wow thats a big tasty burger. Half pound beef with sausage bacon and all the fixins. Neither of us could finish our meals and we have big appetities. The menu has many items and serves breakfast all day. There are items for all budgets. We were on the wait list 10 to 15 minutes however on the 1st available seating were taken to our table inside within 10 minutes. They also have a porch outside with fans and it is non smoking. There is a main dining room with a bar to order and eat as well as a side room where we dined. They were very busy for a Monday early lunch. We really enjoyed out meals and server was delightful. We shall return!

The food was really good once we got everything. Wednesday afternoon @ 4 pm, hand full of customers BUT Took a long time to order ; we had to ask a different server to take our order because our first server never came back to our table. Then everyone got their food order (there was 5 of us ) except one person who then had to wait an additional 10 minutes while everyone else was eating. His food finally came but incomplete. Then time to go and server didnt come back to get our card. We waited 10 more minutes before flagging the manager and asked him to please take our money. Servers seemed preoccupied. But like I said, food was good and prices reasonable.

First of all ignore the reviews from Shanae and Ty. Shanae gave Applebees 5 stars lmao, if youre local you will know Applebees is a crap hole. Ty rated Jack Wilson 5 stars and that place is filled with uneducated car salesman. Metro Diner, Awesome food an big plates. Im a 215 pound man and I couldnt finish the breakfasts I ordered there. They use fresh ingredients, the corned beef has wash real shredded corned beef, not from a can. The french toast is awesome and the chipped beef is just like it is up north. Just do yourself a favor and eat there, its good and reasonably priced.

After hearing about this place from friends and family... as well as watching it under construction after checkers was removed... I had been wanting to try it. Ive ordered twice as a to-go order. I have to say Im impressed and happy. The lady that works the to go register is so awesome and sweet. She left a great impression twice so I have to give her recognition. I will always choose this place as my breakfast if I have a moment to spare before work. Cant wait to bring more people here too! I dont normally give reviews unless they deserve it either

I had the unfortunate timing of being sat at metro diner during this 50 order fiasco (earlier spoken of by Mr christmas) 8 days ago. My food was good but took a little longer because someone ,who obviously has never worked in a restaurant before, thought he would randomly order 50 meals from a already super busy restauarant. That place is great and always is but not only that... my service was top notch, food excellent, clean premises, and a real joy to have a great restaurant in Saint Augustin like that one.
