Been coming to this Diner for 20 years. Pretty disappointed with the service i just received by a server named Mimi. I called in from home to order pancakes for my kid and asked that they be ready in 20 minutes. Ive done this before & its never been an issue. Mimi said, "they only take 5minutes to make". My response, "ok we will arrive to pick them up in about 20 minutes". Mimi says, "you can just order them when you get here." my response, "I dont want to be on my cell and drive, but I guess i can call 5minutes before i get there to make sure they are ready". Mimi says, "it only takes 5 minutes." me: "ok i will call back in 15 minutes". i had children in the car and wanted to pick up and go not bring them all in to wait 5 minutes in what i thought would be a packed diner. I started calling from the highway. The phone rang for over 5 minutes. I thought surely this woman is not refusing to take a phone order. Until I pulled into the parking lot with the phone still ringing and watched her pacing back & forth past the phone while the chef prepped the food. I walked in with my phone still ringing aloud and she reaches for the phone. I tell her that we have been calling since we were on the highway. Her response, "i was busy". I mentioned that she only had 3 guests & she smiled & shrugged her shoulders. & Guess what! The phone rang while i was waiting 10* minutes for the kids promised pancakes and she picked it up after two rings while running a payment, printing a check & getting it signed. Mimi does, in fact, have the ability to multitask, but also has caller ID & clearly is not willing to take pancake orders over the phone or could care less about customer service. I asked to speak to a manager, but she said he wasnt there. 3 stars because overall, we will always support Barnside, but we hope to never be served by mimi again & think she should only work when a manger is present.

I go here regularly. The food is a hit or miss. I normally order the Florentine omelet but have stopped because the last time I ordered it I could not eat it on account that it was full of chewy spinach stems and the feta was left as a block inside my omelet. However, my husband adores his Ruben Sandwiches. NEVER NEVER NEVER go the on weekend mornings EVER! The place has a line that goes out the door until about 2pm because all the people from the overly populated apartment complexes that surround the diner, go there and sit forever! There seriously needs to be a time limited to how long people can sit in the booths there during these times! The place is too small for people to sit there all day. Plus, there is no room for a line, so the people who come in usually cut in front of everyone and act stupid about it. The last time I went there I waited for almost 45mins just to sit down. If it werent for those Ruben sandwiches.... i would pay more and go to Ihop. Other than that... it is a good place for lunch on a weekday. Oh and the service is also a hit or miss. My water never comes till the end of my meal, and the servers seem to be selective about who they give good service to.

Sincerely, I was disappointed with my visit to Barnside. I ordered my food and apple juice. I was pleased somewhat with the food, but there was an issue. I ordered apple juice and i was under impression from what the menu said that ordering apple juice included refills because it did not state otherwise. The menu covered grapefruit juice, lemon juice, orange juice etc but did not say anything about no refills with apple juice. I asked the waitress if i could speak to the owner. He told his employee that he was in a meeting sitting no further than 20 feet across form me and it seemed like he didnt want to deal with me. I insisted, to let him know that this misunderstanding of the menu is unacceptable. The waitress walked me to the owner of the barn side and he said that they were going to change the menu next week and said that apple juice cost money and that he could not refill my drink. He patted me on the back and continued on with his meeting. Its obvious that the misleading menu isnt the customers fault and what is written on that menu should be giving to the customer. Overall, the owner seemed cheap, and quite frankly didnt care about customer service.

The manager (possibly owner) is very polite and always greets every guest with a smile and a warm welcome. He makes sure to not just show face, but takes down all the names, seats everyone, and cleans tables. If there is ever an issue he is always walking around asking tables how everything is and will immediately remedy even the most minute of problems with a smile. This place has delicious food and a warm atmosphere (if not a little small). I definitely recommend calling ahead for larger parties (4+) as for breakfast this place tends to fill up quickly, and for good reason! Great people, great prices, and great food! P.s. I do not have any stake in this business I just live in the area and love coming here breakfast.

Been to Barnside dinner twice now, and the service has been abysmal both times. The first time, we enjoyed our food, so we decided the poor service must have been a fluke, so we gave it another try. Big mistake. Our waitress came and took our order pretty quickly, then moved on to other tables. After about 30 minutes, we realized that all the other tables in our general vicinity had been served, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We gave her another 10 minutes, then flagged down another waiter. He apologized, and informed us that she had finished her shift, without putting in our order, and left for the night, but he would be happy to take our order. Never going back.

After reading so many great reviews I was excited to go to the Barnside Diner. The staff was fine. However, the reviews all said they were VERY friendly. My waitress was not very friendly but she wasnt rude either. In the reviews it said my cup would never be empty. My cup was empty and I was not once offered a re-fill and when I asked for one I was informed it would cost extra. To me thats still not an excuse to not ask me for a refill. In the reviews people said the food was really good. My food was okay it really wasnt that good. It definitely wasnt worth the price. I feel like I should have been paying $14. I dont believe I will return to this place.
