Ive been looking for a Mexican restaurant to really WOW me. Someplace that makes REAL Mexican food. Growing up eating REAL Mexican food at home and in southern California makes my expectations high. From my short visit to Los Portales, I know this place isnt anything worth my business and probably wont last long. Walked in at approximately 7:00pm and was seated right away. Chips and Salsa were brought out after about 5 minutes. We waited patiently for someone to come take our drink order or to even let us know that theyll be with us in a moment, but after 20 minutes no one came or acknowledged us. I left at 7:20 without even having our drink order taken. I didnt have a chance to try the food, but the chips and salsa werent anything special. As far as the menu, Ive seen the same "combination dinner" section at many other "average" Mexican restaurants. I was really excited to see Horchata and Jamaica in the drinks section because a lot of places dont have those but was disappointed to see that there were no free re-fills. But judging from what I saw on other tables, the food looked mediocre at best. Aside from the poor customer service, the restaurant didnt really have anything that distinguished itself from the average Mexican restaurant so I wont be giving them another chance with my business.

After I returned home with my order I realized that the Guacamole I ordered for $10.00 was not there. I called and asked them to refund my card that I paid with and was told no. I then asked if someone could deliver the Guacamole and again was told no. I asked the man to speak with his manager and he replied that he was the manager (of course) and that his credit card machine could not refund a partial amount. I guess the $10.00 that they stole from me was worth any future business. The food was VERY sloppy and inconsistent. 3 California burritos all had a few bones in the chicken and kind of rubber like.....one without Sour cream, one with too much and two without guacamole. The Beef soft tacos had ZERO flavor ....literally NO flavor, it was just poor quality minced meat. I WILL NEVER RETURN to this awful place and WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND this ZERO STAR Restaurant!

The salsa is fresh and the chips seem to be too. Guacamole dip is excellent! Nothing taste like old cardboard or canned. Food is just as good as La Nopelara. (probably better) We waited maybe 10 mins. for our main entrees and service is super fast now. On weekdays it is the place to go.. food comes out quick and it is not loud and obnoxious. Clean, friendly, kid friendly and family place. The orders and kitchen have actual runners who bring the food fresh to the table and not food that has been under a hotplate for 15 mins. The place to go, for sure! It is delicious!

Went there for lunch a bit after 2pm and had a very good meal. Quick service, nice atmosphere, and it was a little quiet in there since it was between main meal times. Really delicious fresh salsa they had. Food was good, I had lunch #1 from the menu, and was a decent chili reanos and taco, though I found just a little more salt really brought out the flavors. Delicious refried beans. The prices are good and you get a lot of food for the price. With tip my wife and I spent $20 and left being overly full. Will definitely go back sometime!

I came here just based on the reviews and Im so glad. I was craving shrimp and had the jumbo cocktail, shrimp fajitas, and a jumbo margarita. Was the best meal Ive had all week. Shrimp was flavorful and was perfectly prepared. Not dry, mealy or overcooked. Seasonings were spot on. Drink was tasty and just the right amount of alcohol. Tasty but not enough to knock me out as Im a lightweight. I hope to come here again.

Pretty terrible when your Margarita (at a Mex restaurant) is bottled Margarita mix with a splash of tequila. It gets worse though, they salted the glass with table salt. Food was nearly inedible. Awful atmosphere with tile ceilings and fluorescent lights. Floors and bathrooms were filthy. Seems like this place has really gone way, way downhill in the last year. DO NOT EAT HERE.

I used to love this place but lately their service has really been bumming me out. Not sure what changed here but a few of the servers seem miserable and headstrong on making customers miserable. This was my fave place to pick up food for the office and have lunch with all my co-workers. Thankfully this is not the only Mexican restaurant off 210. ✌️

This place is equivalent to La Nop down the street (on County Rd 210) if not better. Salsa has a nice kick. The food selection is great, more seafood dishes (yay!), tasty and theyre willing to substitute - La Nop will not. Service is fast and friendly. Huge portions at an affordable price.

Not overly impressed. Clean place, but the food is just like every other Mexican place in and around Jacksonville. It seems like La Nop, Pablos, and Casa Maria are all owned by the same people. Same menus and pretty much same prices. If youve ate at one youve ate at them all.

I love the welcoming vibes as soon as you walk through the door. Not only is this restaurant good, the waiters are always friendly and always ask how your food tastes. The food is great, customer service is great its alwas clean. Definitely 5 stars worthy.

Came in a week ago and air conditioning is still not working. I decided to stay tonight thinking I could man up. While I was able to stand the 80 degree temp, the margarita and California burrito were not up to par. Fix the AC and I may come back

I went with a couple of other truck drivers, excellent food and service. Clean place with televisions showing Monday Night Football. Not many customers, but have been told it packs in on other days. Enjoyed the visit and will go back again.

Probably the worst place ever. Ordered tacos and their were bones in the meat! Told the waiter and she didnt seem to care. Decided to give the place a second chance and the food came out cold and hard. Will not go back.

Mexican, nothing special or extraordinary. Refried beans were total mush. Chimachinga wasnt crispy, plate was so hot you couldnt touch it at all. Gucamole they gave you was a teaspoon full.
