Lousy service. Wish I had read the reviews. I phone ordered the Fajitas Guadalajara and a side taco. They said 20 minutes. I gave them 30. When I got there the waitress took care of the people behind me and her tables before slowly sauntering to the back. Food comes out (slow - remember I ordered this by phone 30 minutes ago) and they gave me 5 tacos. That was of course after I had stood there for 5 minutes and the two waitresses and waiter were just apathetic. Then when I asked for an extra side of Salsa they charged me for it. Seemed excessive since I ordered a meal, a side item, and then on their mistake ordered one more taco (hey they had made them) as a gesture of good faith (and I was hungry). I do not think the food is that good. Or at least it wasnt good enough to tolerate the staff. And having read the last review about food poising Im just considering tossing it out. Very disappointing as I would have liked fining a nice little Mexican place close to the hotels I stay at regularly.

RUDE !! SNEAKY charge !! Leave UR SELF-RESPECT at the door otherwise you can not enjoy the food. i have been there three times and Literally menus, checks and food get thrown on the table, doesnt matter which staff is serving food. Initially i though they have language issue as they are not fluent speaking in english but then learn that they are just MEAN . DUring my recent visit Waitress placed hot food and burnt my 1.5 yrs old babys hand and not seems apologetic about it. I have to say the food taste is not bad but had a Long black Hair in the entree when i went the second time. Very Very RUDE Staff and i felt so insulted and i am NEVER going back there. This is my first google review because I had such a bad services from the staffs, i am compelled to give a feedback so you do not get to experience what i went through. I am sorry Los Portales i got to give you guys No star if i could.

Maybe the other reviewers didnt give it a chance, but I have been there over a half dozen times, and the food is good(best mexican in Jax thus far), and it is nicer than other places in the area.. I have heard people describe mexican and chinese food the same, that it is all the same- but honestly this place is as good as the best mexican place I found in my home town. No, english is probably not their first language, but that SHOULD be expected in a genuine Mexican restaurant. One reviewer mentioned their newborn getting burned- seriously, they bring out hot food and you blame them? This is one of the few places I can imagine bringing a date- you really dont have to be worried it will be disappointed, not unless you are expecting far too much from your experience.

I had some unpleasant experience here. I went for a lunch on a week day. Service was too slow though it was not much crowded. When I reached at counter to pay, I was told that credit card machine is not working. Not having enough cash forced me to hand over my credit card to the lady on the counter. She wrote down the details of the card ( I know my bad but did not have option in absence of the cash). Couple of days later I find a 325$ transaction made for a computer service company. I find it tough to think that one fraud transaction on my card on same day when card machine was not working. I tried to contact the owner but got no response. so if I were you, wont use my credit card at this place.

Love the food and the frozen margaritas for 1.99 are fantastic. Been there 3 times now. First 2 times had same server that came across a little unfriendly. Third time had a much friendlier server that made the experience better. Prices are reasonable and food quality is very good for our tastes. Have not experienced any problem with HipHoppers or Rap on the TV during our visits. That would definately be a turn-off for me too. Good family environment in my opinion. Maybe dejidean just happened to be there when a group of HipHoppers invaded and they requested the TV be changed to view Rap videos. I would have packed my food to go and left ASAP.

One complete dump this place I have pictures of the bathroom everythings falling apart stinks in the bathroom filthy dirty you go there the drinks are the only thing thats halfway decent but they put way too much ice in them second thing is the food is disgusting they treat you like trash these waiters because they dont speak any English dont go there stay away from this dirty rat hole I was also there one time and I was watching the owner while everybody was eating fixing the hot water heater right in front of everybody using the bathroom and walking around they were looking out like it was nuts

I like to give places the benefit of the doubt twice before I rate them. I have been here twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the waitress was not so great. Very impersonable. Kind of like what do you want, heres your food, and heres your check... No questions, suggestions, diaglogue. The food is pretty good. Not the best, but by far not the worst. The garnishes ie: lettuce tomatoe etc are always real fresh which is nice. The prices are suitable for the area. It is ok, but dont expect a great dining experience. You go in, eat, and leave.

Very good Mexican food. One of the best Mexican places I have been to. Great salsa and the price is right. Friendly place. Try the extra hot sauce if you like very hot food. We have been there several times. It has been consistently very good food and service. The toilet is very bad. My wife also had a terrible experience with the toilet. I originally gave 5 stars, but changed it because of the repeated poor quality of the toilet. At 3 different visits this was no better.

I really got to say Im really not happy with this stay . You take a shower. Someone in the other room turns on the shower flushes the toilet you lose the pressure. The toilet dont flush. The breakfast is lousy they dont offer anything. The washer and dryer doesnt ring the clothes out properly. And the dryer doesnt dry your clothes. I honestly got to say I would never stay here again I give it one star. But I got to say the front lobby people are wonderful.

I like Mexican food and look for the authentic mom and pop restaurants. So far this is the best authentic Mexican food Ive ever had! Im vegetarian so I ordered the vegetarian chalupa with rice and beans. So full of flavor! Also a very happy ambiance and looked very clean. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Prices are great. You can order three delicious tacos for 5.99. We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back!

My newborn, girlfriend and I went for dinner after a long week. Her meat was ice cold, when she told the waitress said "The man in the kitchen said the meat wasnt cold." I asked her to take if off the bill as my girlfriend did not eat the food, and three staff memebers ganged up on my family threating to call the cops.....(The cops??? That serious huh?) I recommend eating in a dumpster before ever eating at this sorry dump!
