I mearly found a take home menu, and asked a friend if we could try it out. Well there was no address or phone number, so thankful for Google I am, or I might have missed out on one of most Spectacular, Fantastic, Delicious Mexican food Ive ever experienced. Every thing was cooked or prepared to perfection. I can cook, I am usually able to smell or taste individual spices and herb, All I can say is I recognized just a hint of salt, and the most delicious blend of seasonings I really ever tasted. The service was excellente! The restaurant could use a touch up but it was Sunday Buffet time. I had the EL POTRO SPECIAL FRAJITOS. PIPING HOT, no celatro Im allergic. But I tore up the fresh Salsa & Chips immediately served. The staff took turns making sure everything was going fine. Very caring but not overbearing. I didnt get to eat but 1/4 of the scrumptious fare but big boxes are available for the generous portions of food served. . YESSS, Yummiest South of the Border food this #DCGirlNA #FloridaWorld Had in A Long Month of Sundays. You Betta Know Ill Be Back for Dessert. Flan and Sommore Stuff! Gracias NéeCee.

A must try for a Mexican buffet!!! Call ahead to find out when they do buffet style (its certain times). Great price for the buffet too! They keep the buffet the same with few dishes that change here/there. Lunch buffet is different (items) than dinner. I recommend the dinner one! The buffet serves Mexican favs plus salad, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, gauc, puddings, fresh fruit, desserts like theres leches & flan and sugary fried dough! If you can not eat gluten, upon request, they will give you dome corn tortillas, since in the buffet there is only flour option. I also love eating there and buying meals off the menu. A lot of options there that arent ever in the buffet! Delicious food every time Ive ate there! Ive been going for over 4yrs to that location but Ive been going to their other locations for over 13yrs! Never had a bad experience, which is so rare for me to say!

I moved here from a city that had REAL Mexican food: People from Mexico that owned the place and cooked the food. I moved here and found a LOT of fake Mexican. So many places here are just bland and boring. El Potro tastes authentic! I really havent had a dish there that I dont like. They use SPICES! Their dishes taste freshly made! I only gave it 4 stars because the chimichangas are a little soggy, but they still taste ok. I like a crispy chimichanga though. The place looks like a creepy little hole in the wall, and it is, but the food is GREAT and the service is typically good. (When theyre not watching the tv.) Go there, youll be happy!

Love this place! We have been going there since 2008 and it is a treat every time. The place does not look fancy but the food is authentic Mexican food. The price is fair. They make you feel like family there. I like this location the best of all of theirs. They are very accommodating at making changes to your order unlike the Apopka location. Love Don Pablo the owner, his wife Alicia, Monet and Armando! We moved away from that area and although the Apopka location is closer to us, we prefer to make the drive to this one! Try it, definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I have tried!

El Petro food is great and well priced, but try going on Friday or Saturday for their buffet. Authentic mexican dishes are incredible, and I am not talking tacos and burritos. They have different shrimp dishes, beef briskets, fish dish, several chicken mixed dishes, etc. I dont even know how to explain many of them but there must be 15 different dishes and seperate ones for desert. And of course, if you prefer tacos etc, they do have those too. The service has always been very friendly and almost family like. We have enojoyed going there for a couple years now.

I love this place!! The staff is really friendly in general AND with accommodations made while ordering. The menu is easy to read and they even have a "description of Mexican food" section that translates for those (like me) who can never remember the difference between an enchilada and a chimichanga. Nice frosty mugs with cold beer, and reasonably priced food so my boyfriend and I are always able to afford a few delicious Margaritas, whatever we want on the menu AND extra add ons like guacamole and queso. Oh... and they have free WiFi

I dont usually leave reviews but after going a couple times with the same result i just had too! They are ALL Really friendly people, great service by the time we sat down we already had our drink orders taken and chips n salsa (witch is amazing!) By the time we finished the salsa our food was on the table the food was hot and great I didnt know they had a location in apopka so I have been going to the one in winter park and I live in zellwood! And still totally worth it!

Probably the best Mexican place for 20 miles. They have an excellent lunch buffet that is priced to attach any budget, just under $10 at this time. The hot bar will not disappoint. From traditional tacos, enchiladas and burritos to juicy pork brisket, that is to die for, and original flavors. I tell everyone they need to come to this place. They treat you like you are their first customer every time. Friendly, fast and thankful.

This restaurant exceeded my expectations. I called during rush hour to place a larger order for pick up. The guy that answer the phone (his name was either Pedro or Pablo, Im bad with name :( ) was outstanding. He made sure all of our were ready on time and when I got there, the customer service was even better. The food was even better. Cant wait to order again. I had 3 tacos de asada with an horchata. Highly recommend it

Food is so good and the service is so poor. This is my 4th time here and today will be my last. I ordered my food and barely got a whimper out of my server. She seems so depressed at a lunch rush..not one smile at any of her tables. No refills..never even came to check up on our table. The other server looks pissed off. Just not the most inviting place. So unfortunate because I really like their food.

I wish I had known about this place sooner! Every single thing I tried was delicious. The buffet price is fair ($12), two plates at the buffet will make it a good deal. Only bad part of the experience was how full I felt when I left because I just didnt want to stop eating. Please give El Potro your patronage. This place is exactly the type of small & local businesses that we need to support.

Great people, great restaurant. We sat down for dinner, ordered our sodas, and chips and salsa soon followed. Unfortunately, right before we ordered dinner we received an emergency call and had to leave immediately. The staff was very understanding and comp-ed our drinks and chips so we could leave quickly. The salsa was excellent and the service was top notch. We will definitely return.
