I gave this place a second chance and should not have. There were 4 of us that day for lunch. The waitress was somewhat sarcastic and harried. I got the grilled chicken salad. I had maybe 4 small pieces of chicken, over ripe, bordering on rotten, so I could not finish the salad. When it came time for the bill, the waitress did not charge myself and my friend, the right menu price so had to re do it. When she brought it back, she gave me the booklet with a credit card in it and told my friend, she didnt have a payment in her booklet. She had given my friends booklet to me and vice versa. What if it had not been my friends credit card. For some other reason, in my booklet was the ticket she wrote our order on, plus all four of our partys tickets. Since I did not trust her to take my card, I took my booklet to the register to pay myself. After we left, she followed us out the door asking where her tickets were, as she "had to turn that in to her boss" I told her I paid at the register and to left it. Bad food, bad service = loss of 3 out of 4 customers.

My wife and family showed up at the Deland Fish House about 30 minutes before they were closing on a Saturday Night. The waitress (Kimm) made us feel welcome, eventhough we know she was in a hurry to complete her sidework and get out of work. Our family ordered dishes to include Seafood Platter, Crab Legs, Fish & Chips, while I ordered the Shrimp and Cheese Grits. This dish which was absolutely fantastic and the service remarkable. i cannot speak for experiencesthe bad reviews, but can say that they were no where near the same experince we had! I know everyones tastes are different, so I rarely take others food opinions unless the majority of the reviews are consistently the same. For the same reason, I ignore the majority of customer service reviews since service is generally rendered in the manner the customer responds to the hostess and waitress. Deland Fish House is not a 5 star suit and tie restaurant. It has a rustic feel with food that is drastically under-priced for the quality and flavor. Its a must try if youre in the area!

I love this place. The owner and his wife spend a lot of time walking the tables to make sure everyone is happy. The fried oysters are larger than average and fried to perfection. Ive eaten several different menu items and loved every one. I like the fish and shell fish menu choice; I get the grilled tuna and fried oysters. They are very flexible on the choices and cook it all excellent. Ive also ordered some of the larger platters and they will fry some items, broil, bake, grill, blacken others, whatever you like. I like that they serve to please. Their prices are lower than Id expect for the quality of food they serve, I like that as well. Others that Ive talked to that have eaten here also share my love of the food here. Enjoy!

Most everything tasted like it was created in-house. Fresh from the water seafood. In a smaller than expected location but quaint. Neat front counter that included the sea fare on ice and 5, made that day, cakes. We shared a pitcher of beer and the coconut shrimp for apps. I had the seafood platter and my date had the crab legs. Finished it off with a slice of red velvet cake and apple crumb cake. Both unique and refreshing. Service was very quick and polite. We were in there when there were only a few customers and it was still pretty loud. Prices are competitive with solid portions and lively atmosphere. Very satisfied and impressed with our visit. Great to try somewhere new and not be let down.

I will never return. First time, went to pick up lunch, paid for the 1st two, then on mine their credit card machine wasnt working. I was on my 30 min lunch and told them this but I was made to wait while they troubled Shooted the machine.One lady even joked "Well there goes your lunch break"...gee thanks for rubbing that in. Owner on the phone giving instructions never once said let the customer go, nope made me wait for $10 order. Then I was asked to leave my credit card number so the over can run it later wow!! So here is a picture of the food cold, hard, and gross because I was made to wait

Rude waitress and slow service. We had six in the party and my daughters boyfriend left the waitress $7.00 and the mgr/owner came out asking why the other check paid with my CC had no tip. Personally she didnt deserve the seven left on the one check and she surely did not deserve the other $4.00 my husband had my son go back in and give her. Never have I ever had a mgr/owner insist a waitress be tipped and to top it all off when my son went back in the Mgr/owner had the nerve to tell my son and his gf that I should not come back in because Im "hard" We will NOT patronize this restaurant again.

The food was delicious ! Ordered a fried haddock dinner; the batter was crisp for both the fish & onion rings; coleslaw was fresh; service was top notch; desert (key lime cake) to die for!!! The price for dinner was well worth the visit. I highly recommend this for either lunch or dinner. You will not find a good fish house in the Deland area that serves a wide variety of fresh fish as this one. Please stop in and see for yourself! We will be back (they also have take out orders as well!)

Great informal, clean and friendly family restaurant. We had haddock and mahi with red potatoes and mixed veggies. The haddock was good, the blackened mahi was a little dry but very tasty. The veggies were great. The menu looks a little steep for dinner but they serve lunch portions all day so the cost drops and the lunch portion is more than ample. We didnt want doggie bags and the lunch portion allowed us to eat more than enough. Looking forward to our next visit.

Wow, This was the worst place I have ever been too. The fish was mushy and smelly. Which means it was old. The salad bar have maybe 4 items on it. Not worth the 4.99 extra with a meal. My sister got the clam chowder and she did not find 1 clam in it. Just potatoes and runny. The manager/owner kept walking around asking how everything was. But just kept walking not really wanting to know the true answer. Will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Save your money

My husband and I have eaten here several times and have been very pleased. The owner or manager always stops by our table to ask if everything is good. A nice touch. The staff are friendly and efficient . We recommend it to all our family and friends. My husband loves the whole belly clams and this is the only restaurant in Central Fl that has them and I always enjoy the Haddock!!! Our daughters treat him there for Fathers Day!!!
