Strange experience … We enjoyed the buffet… though the sushi is sub-par with imitation crab meat heavily decorated. At the end of the meal I paid by credit card. The waitress, who was serving us after completing the Credit Card transaction, stands about 10 feet from my family staring at us with an “evil eye”. We complete our dining experience at the buffet by having dessert… she is still standing staring at us watching every bite of the ice cream with distain. Finally we finish while feeling and seeing the uncomfortable posturing of her position… at that point she comes dashing over to our table and begins to ramble outload in native Mandarin her apparent anger. Finally after a couple of uncomfortable minutes of this awkward dialogue I said please be so kind to state what you need in English. By now everyone in the restaurant is watching and wondering what is going on? In broken English she muttered the word “tip”… gratuity. In conclusion this lovely lady was upset visually and physically because she thought we were not going to leave her a tip. We always leave a tip in cash and not on the credit card which we did and she did not see the money on the table. She tried to shame us in front of the entire restaurant believing we had premediated plans to stiff her on gratuity. I realize these wonderful ladies and gentlemen who serve many of us as waitresses and waiters, bust their tails off serving patrons for hours on end. I respect and love them. I believe this beautiful lady had a hard long day and I just happened to be the family she exploded on. I have thick skin except when it affects my children. My children saw this and that fueled my deepest anger. We prayed together for this waitress and that anger became defused in God’s loving grace. Please support this business and pray God blesses them and the community they serve.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We went here on 10/13/2016. Hubby wanted something different... boy was it different! A big sign saying "If you waste food you will be charged double!" WHA?! First red flag right there. When we were seated the table was dirty, the food didnt look very good, I dont eat that kind of food so I tried to make due with the salmon and mac n cheese.. the mac n cheese wasnt very good. HOW, How can you ruin mac n cheese?! And my god, I was in for it when I went to the ladies room! First, the door was missing the filter thing so there was a giant hole in the door. The bathrooms were disgusting! Two toilets either not flushed or stopped up, and the handicap bathroom was worse! The soap dispenser was missing its lid so the soap was already contaminated by open bathroom air! The sink was about to fall off the wall, the corner by the toilet also had a massive crack going up the wall, the ceiling tiles were moldy and nasty and moved out of place. Who knows if a creep could have placed a hidden camera up there! I dont know what exactly made them closed but GOOD! My hubby said the mens bathroom was even worse when I showed him the pictures I took!!

Hibachi has been closed for months. Im not sure why but the last 2 times we came in it was gross. Dirty restaurant, bad food, terrible service. But it wasnt always that way. One upon a time Hibachi was the shiny jewel of deland. Relatively inexpensive, wide selection, pretty good food. Imagine my surprise today when I see a sign that says "grand opening". I talk the wife into meeting me there with the kids. First off we waited at the door without acknowledgement from 2 employees. I almost left. Finally we were taken to the table. The server got our drink orders quickly (but refills slowly). The food was really, really good...but nothing for the kids. They used to put mac n cheese and chicken nuggets on the bar. So just know if you have kids its not really kid friendly anymore. I will say the food was fresh and hot. The displays were clean. And theyre really expensive now.

Very disappointed with this place. The food was mediocre, a bit lacking in flavor. A small selection of mostly seafood. The chicken teriyaki skewers were over cooked and dry. The honey chicken was okay though. Lomein and rice noodles lacked other vegetables in them. Dumplings and wonton soup were okay, slightly flavorful. Found food in my drink before I even took a sip. The best part was how cute the ice cream was, and that the other customers were just as amused as we were. We will not be back. 13.65 for one sweet tea and the 10.99 dinner buffet. Servers were not the most polite, and some plates that were ready to grab for customers were dirty as well. I understand that in buffets and in food service that not everything is perfect. But this is pathetic. Kudos on the ice cream though

Hibachi buffet and grill is BY FAR mine and my boyfriends favorite restaurant of all time. I have been to all types of Oriental restaurants, in many different states and I have never found one like them. They have so much food and many types. I never get the same thing twice and I try something new every visit. I have been going here to eat my whole life. I have been eating here before they moved to this location. I gave decor a good because it is clean, but they still have the old whistle junction decor up and the atmosphere doesnt feel like a Chinese restaurant... yet.

I have eaten there several times in the past and was greatly disappointed and disgusted to have a rather large cockroach walk across my table. I notified the waitress who saw it and offered to move us. We decided we did not want to stay and eat. we we re only there for 10 minutes and barely ate. As we We re leaving we stopped to notify the manager that said he was aware of this infestation. Then he had the nerve to expect us to pay for dinner, as I refused, he then offered me a 15% discount. I will never return to this dirty establishment.

I used to enjoy this place until tonight, me and my family went in there tonight to have dinner, it was 8:40 pm, and they refused to seat us even though they told us they dont close until 10 pm, with the economy being so bad how could they refuse service to the 5 of us and the 15 people or so that also had 3-4 toddlers with them in front of us, to tell us no we cant seat you because we close at 10. Just awful to do that refusing to feed all of us and them kids, just rude, they have lost our business.

Yesterday around 315pm, I went to Hitachi Buffet in deland.the food tasted completely different from my previous experience, it tasted like cheeper quality of food or the food was undercooked... I ate some lomein, ribs, vegetable egg foo young, and some chicken and broccoli..... Anyway, after eating this food it gave me diaherea a lot of times throughout the day..... The moral of my story is that they lost me as a customer.... I will NEVER NEVER go back here again as long as I live

The mongolian hibach NEEDS bowl instead of plates, a seperate section from the meat n veggies to include soy sauce, sedans oil, sugar water and other sauces the customer may want to have on their meat...it should NEVER be up to the cook to add sauces, spices or anything else during the cooking process.....THATS the customers decision at ALL TIMES!!!! Best friend was with me and because restrooms were filthy, opted to go elsewhere for that urgent nature call.....
