Food is inexpensive, menu is simple and easy to understand, dishes are easy to personalize, staff is accommodating and kind, and the dishes are delicious and fresh. My partner and I have been waiting for a noodle house in the area since we honeymooned in HI 6 years ago, and Ramen Kumamoto did not disappoint. (In fact, we went back to HI a year ago and felt disappointed by that HI noodle house compared to our local spot.) It is smallish and meant for quick meals, so when large parties of 5 or more dine in, the restaurant has to slow down a bit. Parking in Downtown Newark is tricky because of the college students. The restaurant doesnt face Main Street, so you need to know its in a shared building with Days of Knights, in the back section of the stores. Think of it as on the drivers side between Iron Hill and DoK.

Ive seldom been disappointed with this place. I can only think of once, and that was because I didnt get as big of pork pieces as I would have liked. That aside, I love this place dearly. The food always tastes good, and Ive tried nearly everything. All of the appetizers are affordable, and are a good portion for what you pay. Which is good, because it doesnt take long for them to bring out your food. Two adults can get an appetizer, and two entries for just about $25. Parking can be a little difficult, but if you get a spot in traders alley, its free parking. Which is hard to come by in Newark. You wont leave unhappy, or hungry. This is my go to place to eat on Main Street.

Good to be able to find great noodles outside of the city. I am always impressed with the miso ramen, very consistent the flavor is always the same (fantastic), the service is friendly and fast. Not to mention its very affordable. A great bowl of noodles and an appropriate tip for less than $10. Which is great for the inhabitants of the college town where the restaurant is located. As a chef I cant say enough about how pleased I am with Ramen Kumamoto. The menu isnt too large which makes for easy decisions when with a group. What they do they do well, Good food, good prices, friendly service an awesome addition to your day!

The notion of authenticity is thrown around too lightly in food reviews, but in the case of Kumamoto ramen, the proprietors have quite genuinely cut off a slice of Japan and brought it to Newark. No dish is anything short of superb, I have a habit of ordering something new everytime I go and I have yet to be anything but astounded by the quality. My personal favorites are the steamed pork buns, the Katsu don, and the curry. If youre in the mood for dessert, the machine ice cream is a light, sweet, and refreshing way to wrap up an extraordinary meal. If youve any taste for Japanese food, Kumamoto is a must see.

Delicious and affordable! There were a few vegetarian soup options, though I wish they had a vegetarian onigiri. The vegetarian miso ramen was delicious and packed with veggies, and the taste of miso want over powering (I love miso, but my husband is less enthusiastic and still enjoyed my broth). The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were great, and everything was spotless. My husband and I went there for dinner and it went from quiet to bustling (but still not very noisy). We will absolutely be coming here more often!

This is some of the best Ramen Ive ever had, just as good if not better than any I ever ate in New York. The various donburi here is also most excellent as are many of the side dishes. I cant say I cared for their udon much, but that is not what I go here to eat :). The meats used in the donburi and ramen are cooked to perfection with just the right amount of fat. The staff and owner are all very friendly and polite. The atmosphere is nice and the seating is comfortable.

An amazing place. I actually work here as a server and could not recommend it enough. The food is authentically Japanese and each and every dish is at least good if not excellent. My personal favorites are the takoyaki, chicken bun, karaage chicken curry, gyu don and spicy ramen. For further unbiased information, Id recommend checking out Vaughn Shultzs review on Yelp. He is the current highest contributor on Yelp for our business and has eaten practically everything.

We read some great reviews online and were eager to try this restaurant... Unfortunately for Kumamoto, I was comparing the ramen to this unforgettable bowl of deliciousness I had at Bachi Burgers in Vegas a month ago. Kumamoto was nothing like Bachi, but the broth was quite flavorful in both the bowls of tan tan and shoyu ramen, the pork was very tender. The chicken karaage was also very tender.

On colder days, this is one of my favorite places to warm up. Ive never had anything but their vegetarian miso ramen (with no mushrooms), but its good enough to keep me coming back again and again. If youre in the mood for hot, salty soup this is definitely the place to go. Once of the most unique places to grab a bite to eat at the University of Delaware.

Raman Kumamoto is a chill authentic ramen shop it not expensive by resturant standards and the food is good however the service is not the best it is mostly worked by University of Delaware kids so there are flaws also all drinks are from can or bottles it feels a little cheap but the tone and friendly faces are a more than adaquate to make up for that.

Would have given 5 stars but Im not happy about paying a $3 fee for using the ATM. I ordered the curry chicken and the waiter informed me that I couldnt use my debit card. He pointed to the ATM machine and said no fee. Well no fee on their machine but most banks charge you if you use another banks ATM. Go there with cash.

The best Ramen place around the staff always remembers your name. The atmosphere is very relaxing and all of the food is amazing. This has been a very nice addition to the Newark area. The owner is always there you would never know who he is unless you asked him. Very humble man running a great business.

First time visiting tonight for dinner. Excellent experience of good authentic Japanese food. Had Spicy Ramen and it was delicious. Very good service and all dishes were explained on the menu properly with pictures. Next time will be a different dish. They all looked good.

Absolutely delicious food. When people think "college town" and "ramen" this is not what theyre picturing. Fantastic broths for their noodles, good appetizers, and a surprising amount of diversity in the menu makes this a must visit.

The ramen is great, be sure to try the curry and appetizers as well. The only thing Id say negatively about this place is that youll only want to eat it once in a long while, as the saltiness of the food gets to be a bit much.

The food is great, and the owner/staff is on point most times. When the place gets busy, and it does often, the staff is almost overwelmed. Fast service and with a smile, I recommend this ramen shop for a warm satisfying meal.
