This place took a dive years ago, but now seems to be on a slight uptick due to their AYCE crabs on Friday nights in the summer. It needs a serious overhaul. Firstly, the disgustingly insipid bras in both restrooms need to GO. They are dirty, dust covered, old and gross and just junk the place up. PS.... No one does this anymore! Clean it up! The bathrooms are way way way too small. They need to take the wasted space near the restrooms and at the very least, install a wash station for customers. Its like playing Twister in the restroom. The plastic sheeting used to cover the tables is a pain in the ass. Everything slides all over the place. They use styrofoam cups, which is ok, but has to be a huge expense. Invest in a dishwasher and get glasses. The food is meh....alright. We mostly go for the AYCE crabs. Also, the owner just sits in the dining room, like a princess, taking up an entire four top table that could be making her money. All the while, barking at her wait staff. She also sits with the business phone in her hand answering it, but is very rude and crotchety to callers. I know this because I myself had called and we have heard her from "the princess table." It is unorganized and the owner has become complacent and oblivious.

Worst experience ever! After we sat down to a "seat yourself" sign. We were ignored for atleast 10 mins after making direct eye contact with many servers, mind you it was 7 pm and not busy at all. A server finally came by and said Ill be right with you. Then a party of 6 walks in, sits directly behind us and is greated promptly by another server who states, before even getting a drink order, "there are only a dozen crabs left, do you all want them?" the table of course answered yes and the server darts away to put in the order. Directly after this our server comes over and asks for a drink order, I then tell her what just happened with the table behind us and she says shell be right back and she goes to speak to someone whom I assume was a manager. When she comes back she says there is nothing she can do! The manager didnt even bother coming over to speak with us! We explain to the server that we drove 30 mins to come to this restaurant just for crabs, and the right thing to do would be to grant us the crabs or at least half of the dozen. The server did not mend the situation so we politely left. This restaurant will NEVER get my business again!

RUDE!!!! RUDE!!!!! RUDE!!!!! IM FROM OUT OF TOWN AND I CALLED TO FIND OUT A COUPLE THINGS BEFORE I DROVE 20MIN FOR NOTHING AND FROM THE START THE LADY WAS RUDE SO I LET HER KNOW THAT HER TONE AND THE WAY SHES ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I WAS BOTHERING HER AND SHE SAID WELL YOUR THE ONE ASKING ALL THESE QUESTIONS ???? LIKE REALLY??? IM FROM OUT OF TOWN AND I DONT WANT TO WASTE MY TIME DRIVING 20MIN FOR NOTHING BUT SINCE SHE WAS SO NASTY I DID NOT GO I WILL NEVER SPEND MY MONEY ON RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IF THATS JUST THE PHONE LADY IMAGINE THE REST OF THE STAFF !!!!!!!

Worst service ever. Sat down, were promptly ignored for 10 minutes, with only one other table occupied. After the 10 minutes another group entered and was being greeted even before they sat down. We decided to leave and as we left we were told to have a nice night, just to be sure we knew they were ignoring us. Place is a dump. Go to Sambos in Leipsic, much much better with no old witch presiding over the wait staff.

Service is extremely slow and poor. Could not get a drink refill despite asking two times. Food is very poor quality...no better than what you can get in the frozen section at Wal-Mart. There is no "chef" involved...all food is fried or steamed. All the food that is fried or steamed comes out of a package. Dont waste your time or money on this place. Its just a mom and pop business thats slowly dying.

Walked in and seated ourselves. There were two other tables occupied in the restaurant. Two waitresses on staff. No one ever made contact with us. Both waitresses served the tables near us but never acknowledged us. After 18 minutes we left. Hard to believe neither waitress had any interest in serving our table especially since they werent busy. Of course, thats probably why they werent busy.........

Once upon a time. This used to be a go-to place down in this area, but in recent years things have changed and not in a good way, which is a shame, because it used to be a cool hidden gem. A decent place for crabs and beer, but these days, not too much more. Dont expect anything fancy and dont expect to be in a hurry here. After all it is "The Boondocks."

Were from California and a local recommended the Boondocks as a good place for dinner. Weve eaten here three times now, and its still one of our favorites. The food is good, service is above average, and the setting is similar to other seafood restaurants in the area.

So want to give this place 5 stars. But bathroom decor and limited kids menu are turn offs. Excellent food. Service was a little laxed, she did make up for some of it at the end. The place is different and definitely worth checking out if in the area.

I was surprised, i read the negativea and went worried and came away pleased with our experience. Fast seating , i love the "flag waving or upright in the bucket" if you needwaitress. i hate having to answer no i am good while my mouth is full.

We go ever year to the Boondocks at least 3 times. Never had a bad experience. Crabs are great, clams are great, and you cant forget about those hushpuppies! You do have to pay in cash but other then that this is the place to go!

Crab soup was awesome. My 4 year old grandson had fried shrimp stuffed with Monterey jack cheese. Great ear of corn and 1 doz. #1 crabs. Full of crabmeat. Kickin old Bay covered the crabs. YUMMY
