New ownership without Masa or Jun. (heard new owners fired them to bring in new Korean chefs) I experienced one of the worst services ever. The waitress didnt hear my order correctly and as I explained when the food came out, she looked at me and said, you order you pay. Im a calm person and I was still going to eat it eventhough its not what I was expecting, but a comment like that was uncalled for. I paid with a tip and as I was walking out I still said thank you, but with no response. Never going back to this place again.

This place is great. When you first walk in the restaurant, you feel the traditional old Japanese restaurant. The first thing you hear is a traditional Japanese waiter to greet you with his Japanese-English accent. I had dinner here on a Monday night, and ordered a Sushi Sashimi Combo. When this came out, it looked fantastic. Served on a boat, and all the fish there was fresh and authentic. When you come to this place, remember to order the Fried Tempura Ice Cream. This is the best one you can ever taste.

Upon entering the place we could tell there was not enough fresh air circulation. The place had a slight musty smell. We ordered a common combination plate. It took about 5 minutes to bring the first course of salad. Then it took another five minutes to bring the miso soup. After another 30 minutes we still did not have our food. We asked and found that our food had not even been entered. Others who came in after us Got Served. Their delay for food was similar to our initial wait. I would not recommend this place.

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Ive eaten sushi in some of the best sushi restaurants around the world, and this place is seriously just better. Service is exceptional. The decor takes some getting used to, and might not be everyones favorite. But its authentic and real. I love it. Dont bring someone here to impress them with fancy decor and irritatingly professional staff. But if you want the best food and service you can buy, this place is about as good as you can get.

Whenever I come to the San Jose area I always end up eating at Sushi Masa. Ive been eating at his restaurant for over 20 years because it tastes great and the prices are more than reasonable. The authentic Japanese interior make you feel at home. The food items other than sushi are also as good as my mothers homemade Japanese dishes. This place sucks. Sucks, sucks, sucks. So disappointed because it looks so beautiful inside. What respectable sushi place uses plain white rice instead of sushi rice. #1 no no in my book. Greasy beef teriyaki sauce. Combo is garnished with a mound of limp bean sprouts (???). Miso had weird noodles in it. Just weird weird weird and not in a good way. I absolutely will never eat here again. Sad.

Went in with a group of friends...ended up waiting forever to get a seat...and one of us ended up in a place on the table that was intended to be sat at, but that was horrible for anyone with actual knees. Placed our orders and waited...food was acceptable for the most part (california roll tasted horrid), but for the price...Id have rather gone elsewhere.

Everything here is absolutely wonderful! The food, the decor, the aptmosphere, and the service are all amazing! All the decor is very original and authentic. I absolutely love it. I have no complaints whatsoever. Sushi Masha is a beautiful restaurant with the best sushi I have ever tasted (I have tried loads of different sushi.) 5 stars!

I absolutely love Sushi Masa and highly recommend it to all others. The food is fresh, tasteful, and reasonably priced. They have a great selection of sushi and other Japanese dishes (my favorite being chicken terriaki and beef). This place rocks and has an intimate, peaceful setting.

Good quality sushi. No crazy rolls like lower quality sushi restaurants, which are served to hide low quality fish. With the sushi here, if they were to use low quality fish it would be obvious. Prices are higher but the higher quality fish justifies it.

Great food, great atmosphere. I usually get the combination meals since there is a lot of food. Im always leaving full and happy afterwards. The tempura ice is very good as well!

Our favorite Sushi Master, Jun has left, but this is still the closest you will get to Shimoda-Shi without leaving the Bay Area. Every aspect of Sushi Massa is perfection defined.
