This little sushi place, named for San Joses sister city in Japan, was fantastic. Straight from walking in the first time I was greeted with a super friendly "Irashaimase!" Despite the somewhat small interior, the feel of the place was pretty cozy. The wait staff were fantastic and attentive, despite there only being two of them running the room. The food, which of course is the most important part of any restaurant, was delicious as well. I only had two rolls, but I also got edamame and some grilled fish, which were also fantastic. Pricing I would say is about average for sushi in this area, based on the places Ive been. About $5-8 for a simple roll, $13 or so for the more interesting rolls, going all the way up to $30 for something that just looks insane (and delicious). This has certainly hit my list of favorite restaurants in the area, so I will be coming again.

This place is all about bang for your buck! The sushi is good, but the bento box lunches (around $10 each) are stuffed full of food. Nothing is out of this world, but it is very good value for your money. Theyre a bit new-agey with the sushi (star wars themed menu, etc.) but its still very tasty. The tempura was freshly fried and big portions, beautifully presented in the bento. The rolls were also yummy, and very filling. We left stuffed for not a ton of money, so it totally worked out! Ambiance is Japanese Tavern - dark woods, not a lot of light. Very interesting.

I would give it zero stars if possible. Horrible service, got our order wrong and waitress sat on her phone at the table next to us the whole time. The manager is apparently there four hours a week and could not manage to call me back, but when I called during her "business" hours she was unhelpful and told me to call my credit card to reverse the charge....that is not how business works. Shame on this shop, as it should not be called a restaurant. Kazoo is one block down, I recommend anyone to just go there instead.

Great sushi in San Jose Japantown. They have a full menu worth of typical bento boxes for those looking for meals outside of sashimi and sushi rolls. Everything is fair priced, the rolls are well made and incredibly filling. For most people 2 rolls will keep you nice and full. This place can get packed which is a great indicator of Okayamas quality. Be sure to arrive close to opening hours otherwise expect a short wait as the restaurant itself is not very large and cant accommodate a large number of people.

MSG galore. Nabeyaki Udon is a joke, it came with canned white mushrooms, precooked half of the hard boiled egg, missing few standard ingredients, and tasteless broth. Katsu curry was no better. watery almost tasteless curry from cheap concentrate with some kind of thickener, cutlet was very dry and size of a infant palm. Most expensive Sushi roll was all about rice with hardly any fish worth money and not prepared by Japanese. Large Sake had four an a half shots worth and had strong sour aftertaste.

Service was great and fast. I ordered shrimp tempura, which had too much panko snd small shrimp hidden inside. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, which was really good. I ordered the Fantasy roll, which I enjoyed. I also orderen the Triple X roll, which was just okay. The fish was fresh. I will come back. Parking was a little hard, but there is a free lot. The selection or rolls is kind of small, however the menu does say they can make any roll.

The good: there was no line when we went there and service was quick and painless. Seaweed salad and miso soup were some of the best Ive ever had. The bad: Nigiris werent cut properly (booooo!), And the selection in the nigiri mix was uninspiring (2 maguro pirces and 2 sake pieces in an 8 piece "mix"). The fish was okay quality though :) Overall there are better options in the South Bay for those that know their sushi

It was our first time exploring Japan town in San Jose, and the only place that seemed to be open before 5pm on a Saturday was Okayama. The food was all good, and the portions were generous, but nothing was outstanding. Our one complaint would be that the teriyaki sauce seemed much too sweet. It is a safe bet, but next time I would like to try exploring another restaurant in Japan town.

Restaurant has a nice design, decor. Food not really my cup of tea, we had the pork belly, some of the rolls and salmon. Guess this place caters to more adventurous eaters. Have had food poisoning from bad sushi, sashimi a few times I personally only eat cooked rolls. The service was however top notch, just could not rate it higher as I was not a fan of the food.

Okayama has great service, great food and great ambiance. The staff is very polite and they do their best to seat you as fast as they can. The crunch roll is my favorite and other rolls are also super good. And they not only have sushi but teriyaki plates, soups like udon or yakisoba. This place has great variety and isnt compacted but has open space. Super good!

I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently, this place changed ownership 2 months ago. It’s now owned by a couple of Korean men, but I was quite impressed with the food, presentation and the services. We sat at the Sushi bar and Brian, the sushi chef and also one of the owners, made us feel very welcomed. His lobster roll special was simply amazing!

This is a hidden gem in Japan town. Such creative sushi rolls and friendly staff and big portions.i always get the Luke Skywalker roll (someone here likes star wars) but my other favorites are the rainbow roll, Dynamite roll, and heaven roll. Such good seaweed salad too. I love the food and the price. Must check it out!

You will love it! The options were stellar, and we took a chance ordering "Luke Skywalker" and got a roll hidden under a pile of fried onion drizzled in sauces too yummie to describe. Each roll was full of flavor and had amazing fresh tasting ingredients. Portions are large and the price is very very fair.

The rainbow roll looked nice, tasted OK, nothing special. The beef teriyaki had the texture of cardboard covered with extra sweet teriyaki sauce. The hiyayako were plain tofu cubes served without the usual trimmings. The saba had a foul smell and drenched in grease. 3 stars for the roll, zero for the rest.

I tried to phone in a order the lady would not let me finish any sentence or complete order, had to speak to 3 different people then had to go inside to point to a Menu in order to get order right, then had to wait for the food which just took even more time, such a frustrating experience

OWNERSHIP CHANGE! When there is a management change, the food quality drops. The new owners arent even Japanese. The sushi is not as fresh and the cooked items are a joke. I recommend going to Kaita, Gombei, or Minato instead. They are all in the same area.

A nice Japanese restaurant with the requisite selections. They have a good selection of Japanese beers, a large variety of sushi - traditional and creatve rolls (they had Star Wars themed sushi!), and a nice selection of Japanese entrees.

This was a very authentic Japanese Sushi restaurant, but the food was mediocre. I got the teriyaki chicken, and some sushi. The Sushi was very good, but the chicken used really low quality meat. It almost felt like I was eating scraps.
