Found this place simply by searching Google Maps for nearby restaurants. It was about a mile from my hotel and BBQ sounded good so off I went. I got there around 5 or 6 and it was about 3/4 full. Im not familiar with San Jose so I dont know if this is true, but it doesnt appear to be in the best of areas. My hotel surroundings backed this theory up though... Anyway, I walked in and heard a female voice ask if it was just 1 in my party. Considering there were about 6 waitresses in the tiny area, I just looked in the general direction and said yes. The tall one came out of the group holding a menu and sat me at the booth just right of the door. It took about 10 minutes before a different girl showed up and took my drink order. I was a little annoyed by this considering they werent super busy yet. Especially having that many servers on the floor...She returned promptly with my soda and took my order. She was friendly and offered suggestions since this was my first visit. Nah, Ill try the ribs/brisket combo with mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and cornbread. A different woman brought the food in about 10 min. Then an older guy walks by and gives me a refill. Not 3 minutes passes and yet another woman (thin Asian) stops and asks me how Im doing. Once Im finished, my original server (believe her name was Joanna) asks me about dessert. I had read excellent reviews about their peanut butter pie so thats what I got. Well now hows about I do an actual review!? The ribs were a little tougher than Id like but had a good flavor. Not much meat to them though. Also, they were lukewarm at best - just like the brisket. The brisket was somewhat bland, but after adding the BBQ sauce found on the table, problem solved. The potatoes and mac n cheese were both hot (not too difficult though, considering theyre scooped out of a heating pan) and delicious. And its a shame the dude in a previous post didnt get his cornbread because its actually really good too. Then lastly, you must try the peanut butter pie at least once. Its creamy and smooth, and sits on an Oreo crust. As far as the restaurant itself goes, its not very spacious so I can see seating being a problem during dinner time. The parking lot is not big-car friendly either. The parking spaces seem narrower than normal and its one-way in and one-way out, and its quite a tight turn to get around in there. Overall I say its worth a visit or two. It has that old diner type feel to it; with some booths around the wall and a bunch of metal tables crammed together in the middle.

I dont normally eat bbq but when I do, it has to be Smoking Pig! Seriously, best in the bay. I went here with a group of friends on Sunday for lunch and it wasnt packed. The downside for this place is that the parking is small. Its a sit down type of restaurant, I was expecting more of a order first, get a number, and then sit down but instead a server will take you to a table and then give you your menus. The menu isnt too big but they do offer a number of different dishes. I was really curious to try their meats as opposed to a sandwich so I ordered a 3 meats combo to share with my boyfriend. The meal is $15 and you get a lot of food because it comes with 3 types of meats and one side plus a small cornbread. It was definitely something you can share and if youre feeling super hungry then add on another side. Another option is that you can get the 2 meats combo for the same price and get more meat portions since youre only getting two types instead of three. For the 3 meats we got: Spare Ribs, Beef Brisket, and Pulled Pork. and for our side we got garlic mashed potato. Spare Ribs: I thought it was a little tough but I did enjoy it. lots of flavor! Beef Brisket: LOVED THIS. my favorite out of the three. It was super tender, just falls apart when you pick it up and paired with their bbq sauce = awesomeness! Pulled Pork: Definitely one of the better ones ive had. It was tender and moist. Garlic Mashed Potato: One of the best garlic mashed potatoes ive ever eaten! It was sooo good that I couldnt stop eating it. We also got an appetizer to share which was the wolfturds. I thought this was just okay, if youre a huge fan of jalapenos and bacon then get this because youre getting a lot of it. Overall I thought this place served up great bbq at a great price! Their sauces are tasty too and they have 3 different signature sauces. If youre feeling something lighter, then I highly recommend the brisket salad!

Fremont location to Smoking Pig BBQ Company, Mothers Day, Worst dining experience ever. It all started when we showed up on Mothers Day, its nice and crowded as almost all restaurants should be on this fine day. We met our Hostess who was pretty friendly and attentive, no problems yet until she left the table and pretty waitress comes over to ask us what wed like, ordered sodas and waited for her return. 20 minutes later and she does not come back. So we check with the hostess and like a rock star employee she gets us a new waitress to take our order and she was very attentive and got our orders in. Okay, a few minutes later we found a recluse spider crawling on our table, dropped from the rafters maybe. Thats a pretty dangerous spider to be bit by in case your allergic to its venom. Thats not the point that drove us out, what drove us out of the restaurant from anger was when our order was put in last when we ordered far before the table that just came in ten minutes after our arrival. We waited so long for our meal that we did get up and made our way for the door because its insulting to been served later. Anyhow, they chased us down and begged us to come back and they offered us free dessert for all of us if we returned. They rushed our meal finally but that was pretty dismal. Brisket I ordered was very leathery, dry and over done and the Cajun fries for my side was kind of pathetic. but one thing i noticed the most was that my meal even though it said it comes with corn bread, i didnt get it with my meal. The waitress that served us was pretty embarrassed and afraid to return to our table to even give us a refill of our drinks. I dont know who to blame other than the entire restaurant for the horrible mothers day experience. I would do this place a favor and NEVER RETURN HERE for anything, Oh yeah, they also never honored theyre free dessert promise either.

As the Urban Legend goes... They say if you stand in front of a mirror and utter the words here piggy pig pig, A man with a butcher knife in a pigs mask will show up. Well call me crazy but I was demented enough to chant this. Yes, Piggy Man came through but not with a mask and a blade but with beautifully presented and might I add delectable pulled pork sandwich and ribs. When my family and I determine were we are going out to eat for the night it is no surprise that we can all agree on some BBQ. Sadly the South Bay kind of lacks good quality BBQ joints. I do admit I have some friends who like to gossip and I heard it through the grapevine that Smoking Pig was legit. Eager to sample all the mouthwatering details that my friends had engraved in my thoughts I thoroughly scouted their menu. I have to confess that their menu is extensive and has something to cater for everyone. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and all I can say is ooh wee my taste buds sure appreciated that. The meat was tender and the homemade mac n cheese was very appetizing. My bf had the brisket which you can order half and half, lean or fatty. It also comes with two sides. If I had one thing to rave about though it would be the burnt ends. Holy cannoli the burnt ends were delicious. My son opted for the ribs. I tried to sample some of it but it was a no-go but he did say they were fantastic! I dont blame him if they were as "Fantastic" as he said they were, I wouldnt want to share either. I also recall taking a glimpse at some of their desserts. Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie, Bread Pudding with ice cream and Banana Pudding. It definitely sounded tasty but my stomach was already satisfied with all the goodies that I just consumed. So another time I will be back to devour those sweet treats!
