Great ambiance, nice staff, wonderful food. True smoked Texas BBQ! We went in at 4:15 hoping to avoid the dinner rush, I guess everyone had the same idea! The line did move fast despite having only one cashier to process the dozens of orders streaming in. We bought the Pitmaster combo and fried pickles. The pickles are battered deep-fried kosher pickles spears served with ranch for dipping- if you like fried pickles, youll love these crunchy yummies. With our Pitmaster combo we picked fries, corn, and tater salad as our sides; you receive a measley 1 cup EACH of the corn and tater salad, FYI. The fries were reasonable. The corn is a warm creamy spicy concoction, it was ok, I ate it. The potato salad tastes like a recipe from the 1950s Betty Crocker Cookbook... not bad, nothing new, just fine potato egg salad with a couple sliced olives. NOW... THE MEAT! The red hot sausages seem to be homemade, spicy, a good solid offering. The brisket was a little dry to me but my husband loved it; the smoke ring was perfect and once you dip it in their BBQ sauce it is ideal. The pulled pork is fantastic, very moist and perfectly seasoned with juice! The ribs are hands-down the best ribs you can BUY in Salem. They arent overcooked, they stay together just enough, they have a great crust, and are honestly awesome. The sauce is exactly what I like, not too thick and with a great vinegar kick. We will return and we hope much success for this local business!

I suspect the restaurant portion of Roger That BBQ is still a work in progress. It seems like a bit of an afterthought to their catering business. The location looks to be a re-purposed church (one of those off-brand protestant variety). Theyve carved out an attractive, albeit small, dining room with low light and a neat wood plank ceiling. Bench seating can be a bit hard on my aging back. Mosey on up to the counter and make your order based on what is still remaining in the kitchen. No joke: Our party of four arrived no later than an hour after opening and were faced with several outages written on the chalkboard. I dont ding them for this because the website specifically states they serve until theyre out! But an HOUR after opening and they were down to one side (very un-BBQ french fries). Still, the brisket was fantastic and probably a larger portion than a person should eat in one sitting. I thought the hot sausage was plenty hot; my friend found it a bit mild. I ended up taking half of my dinner home and made brisket sandwiches for two days after!

I would rate this a near perfect score except the first time I tried to go here it was closed due to running out of meat, which dont get me wrong its awesome for them. The second attempt of coming here was great, the corn is super tasty and the brisket I got was so tender it was falling apart when I was trying to eat it. The staff there are super helpful and friendly, and the customers all seemed they had a great time as well. Hopefully will have them cater my rehearsal dinner for my wedding. All in all a great place for great bbq, just make sure to get in early-ish so you dont miss out! Edit: At first I put four on account of my first attempt at eating here didnt happen since they sold out of meat. I have changed my mind and now a perfect score! It is well deserved, and after seeing the responses from the owner on the lower ratings others have submitted, it just makes the place all the more great.

Wow. Its been a long time since I have had BBQ this good. We were there at 10 minutes after opening and half the place was filled with people. I ordered a brisket sandwich with tater salad on the side. That brisket was up there with the best I have ever had. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich with BBQ beans and it had a lighter smoke but it was perfect for the pork. The BBQ sauce on the table was heavy on molasses but it really worked with the brisket. I will be back. Repeatedly.

If you want barbeque this is the joint where you need to be. The amount of people that follow this guy is crazy. The people have waited and asked for this to be available for years. Finally almost open is music to our ears. It will be one of the most talked about barbeque joints around. Those ribs effortlessly fall off the bone. Brisket is smokey and so delightful. If you know GOOD barbeque you will understand.

Top tier BBQ! We had the pork ribs and the brisket and 3 sides: Pork Ribs- Great smoke flavor, succulent and tender. Sauce was sweet with mild heat. Rating: A+ Brisket- Slightly crisp on the exterior bark, yet pull part tender on the interior. Well balanced contrast of smoke and savory beef flavor. Smoked using real oak! Great brisket is hard to find outside of Texas- this succeeds though! Rating: A-

Sooooooo good. I have neever been to one of Americas states that boast BBQ, but I know that RTBBQ would stack up against any one of them. The staff is awesome. The food is insane. I am never bummed out after ordering RTBBQs food and eating it. RTBBQ is the place that my wife and I "splurge" once a month. Seriously, we spend our fun money here its that good, and we dont have a lot of it ; )

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous - and I could go on like that forever. The best BBQ Ive ever had. The meat falls off the bone and has a light smoky flavor. The sides are unique and very tasty. I love the baked beans with bits of all kinds of meat in them and the jacked up corn is so good weve tried to replicate it at home.

Roger that bbq has the best bbq in Salem. Wonderful smoked meats. The place is very busy so get here early. Come hungry. Very generous portions. The wimpys are also kinda a big deal. Reminds me of bobs burgers from back when I was a kid. Salem now has a little bit of Texas here in the Pacific northwest.
