I had to take a moment and recognize Malabar in Natomas. Me and a friend had dinner there last night (April 8th) and from the moment we sat down to when i paid my bill, it was as pleasurable as one can expect. I asked for a little private booth whcih the hostess abliged happily. Our waiter arrived very quickly and took our beverage order (jamesons and a stella) which was brought straight over. I couldnt decide on either the Jumbolyia or the Skirt steak. The waiter advised me to try the steak. Great choice!!! It was "FANTASTIC" im not a food critic but flavors were bursting in my mouth with every succulent tender bite!!!! Seriously it was amazing. My date had the Churi Churi chicken (something like that) she was shocked at how great it was. She literally ate every bit, which is completely out of character for her. It was that good!!! The best was yet to come. I believe the manager picked up our plates and asked how was everything. Once our plates were removed our waiter said he wasnt sure why but his manager requested we try the dessert special, no charge. We had no intention on getting dessert since we were so full and completely satisfied but how could we pass up an offer like that. My my!!!! After i took a bite, and this is fact, I truly felt sorry for the rest of the world who has not had the greatest pleasure of tasting this most incredible dessert. There is a show on food network, "best thing i ever ate" OMG this was mine, hands down!!!! It was the papya special. It was presented on a large beautiful plate with whipped cream shaped like petals sliced strawberries and in the middle what looked like a strawberry short cake muffin. Oh no, not even close, it had an almost creamy texture nothing like cake but it tasted close to angel food. The real food of the angels. It was amazing. Every bite i would look at my date and we would just smile and without meaning to, close my eyes and mumble mmm mmm mmm..... I did not get the names of the waiter or the manager but i just want to Thank Malabar for giving me and my date a very memorable and fantastic experience. Thank you, Jospeh A Torrez

my family and i went here last night for my birthday. the waitress was pushing expensive appetizers on us and then told us about a dinner special which my mother ended up ordering. the way it was described sounded all gourmet and tasty but in reality the pork chop you couldnt even cut through, the supposed garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic flavor, the supposed grilled asparagus were half cooked and flavorless, and there were 3 canned peaches with a spice that my mother couldnt identify for $28. that was a ripoff! the waitress forgot my grandfathers soup. my desert was supposed to be free and she didnt even comp that. the bread was hard as bricks and wasnt even warm. the bussers had to refill our drinks. the special should be listed on the menu so as a consumer i know what im spending or what im getting for what im spending. horrible restaurant. worst experience ever. never going back which is said because we really like the desert platter and asian chicken wraps while i have learned how to make them at home. not nice doing business with you! youve lost a family of customers! i suspect this place is also racist since the bussers are hispanic and were nicer than the server who was white. the servers name was Holly!

Love this place and have been going there for the past 8 years. Im not in the Natomas area that often, so I only go there a few times a year. However, when I do, its always a pleasant experience. I would describe it as an "upscale sports bar" (even though I know that sounds like an oxymoron). Not surprisingly, the appetizer section is pretty extensive with 14 items (yes I counted). The rare ahi on the appetizer menu is tasty; I only wish they gave you more. The bacon cheeseburger is a 1/2 pound of fire grilled certified Angus deliciousness. The meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes is good and filling. Other favorites are the happy hour street chicken tacos and the key lime pie on the dessert menu. Overall, the staff seems friendly, however, most of the time, I dont interact with the servers because I usually sit at the bar. Speaking of the bar, Ray-Ray, the always charasmatic bartender, is very attentive and gives good recommendations based on someone who has tried (or at least gives a darn good impresion of someone who has tried) every item on the menu.

My husband and I came to Malabar for dinner before a concert at Arco. We let the waiter know we were pressed for time and he was great about expediting our order even though the place was packed. When the food came, it was presented very nicely and tasted even better. My husband likes Cob Salad and he said this was the best one hes ever had. It even came without the avocado and with extra tomato as requested. They used thick cut bacon that wasnt too salty, a ½ chicken breast grilled to perfection and all the ingredients were fresh. I ordered the Malabar Chicken Sandwich with fries and intended on only eating half the sandwich and a few fries, but I ate the whole sandwich and most of the fries it was all SO good. All the staff we encountered were very professional and friendly all the way to the end as we walked out the door. The waiter and the hostess both asked how the food was and seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say (of course that’s easy to do when it was all good).

Last night, my husband and I wanted to go to a nice sit in restaurant and Malabar is close to home. We had never been there and decided that we should try it. The server was nice and so was the trainee that accompanied her. I asked her for some drink recommendations, I guess that may have been to much to ask for....We ordered our food and there wasnt a lot to choose from, I love pasta and hate sea food and that was the only combination.... We got our salad, I picked up my fork and it had dried food all over it...The bread they brought to us was stale. I ended up ordering the Chimmichurri Chicken Brick, 2 pieces of chicken, steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. The chicken was alright, The veggies were not steamed. The mashed potatoes were the only semi good tasting thing on my plate... And extremely pricey for what you actually get. Never going there or recommending this place to anyone.as

I have been to this place for the first time and at first I thought it was good I ordered a "felet menion" steak combo(excuse my spelling) the steak was good but the mashed potatoes were still raw and the attitude of the waiter had changed at the end unfortunately I was very disappointed with the service , waiting time ,and all !!!!!o not to mention that the waiter followed me to the door and said I was short 45 cents then she said oh dont worry about it !!well if you want to tell somebody that they were short and then offer to cover them you should not have mentioned anything from the gate and just cover them but of course I dont need you to and I apologies for the mistake and im glad I had the opportunity to go back and correct my mistake and add tip on top. anyways wouldnt recommend going there waist of time and money.
