Tynan is a fantastic place to go for a quick bite and some amazing tea and coffee. Especially if youre either on your way to or coming from work as it is located just outside the Columbia Heights metro entrance. Tynan offers a pleasant dining and relaxing experience and you often see people with laptops getting their productive on from one of the many comfortable seating arrangements. My go to is the BMT sandwhich and the Blood Orange Herbal Tea. But everything else I have tried from there is also delicious! The wifi was a bit spotty and troublesome when I tried using it outside so I had to rely on my own hotspot but it may have just been that my Macbook didnt want to play nice with their network. Overall, its a great spot to fuel up, relax, be productive, or all of the above. Anyone that is looking for a good tea or coffee shop that isnt Starbucks, Give Tynan Coffee & Tea a try.

This place has ok coffee, but the new wifi policy is overly restrictive. Went in today (Monday) to work...ordered food and coffee. After two hours, manager refused to extend wifi for another two hours despite the fact that the sign clearly says that M-F you can get an extension on the wifi. He declared it a weekend because it is a government holiday. He has no sign or policy to reflect this. The good news: with all the great coffee and cafes in the area and the very mediocre coffee here, bad food, and terrible service, no need to EVER return! I would recommend everyone do the same!

We were skeptical when we first came in and realized that 1) the food wasnt made to order 2) they were out of breakfast burritos and 3) the remaining options did not look altogether appetizing. We were however surprised that 1) the chocolate chip waffles were AMAZING 2) coconut flavored whipped cream 3) the hummus was delicious 4) the coffee and tea were top notch and 5) the atmosphere was far more calm and subdued that your average Starbucks. All in all, glad we didnt judge by first impressions and bail when they didnt have breakfast burritos.

Living so near here I really really want this place to be decent. But, its just not. At all. The food is decent, which is why Im being generous with two stars but, the service is just atrocious, which is saying a lot in DC. The staff always acts like theyre doing me the favor of a lifetime by taking my order, the coffee is awful, it always smells weird in there... do me a favor - dont go here so they go out of business and we get a neighborhood coffee shop thats worthwhile.

Visiting Tynan is how I treat myself on tough days when the last thing I want to do is to come to work. Their chai latte is the best in the city, not watery or too sweet. Their smoked salmon breakfast sandwich is my go-to but the quiche is also good (and its a generous portion!). They also carry Bakehouse treats which saves me a trip to U Street when I want a 5 spice ginger cookie. Conveniently located, fast service, great quality, theyve got it all.

Nice neighborhood spot to get a quick caffeine fix or to camp out for a few hours--Comfy furniture and decent wifi make this very plausible. The service was nice and the setting was bright and airy. The clientele seem to be the "laptops & lattes" type of crowd, so its nice for a solo trip or for a quiet meeting for 2.

I went over to this place today and I really like the ambience. The music was great and appealed to a diverse audience. The place was almost full but not so packed you couldnt find a seat. Great coffee, free wifii (although the connection was a little slow) and of course lots of plugs and comfy seats...Love it.

Incredible coffee shop directly above the metro in the heart of Columbia Heights. Breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and pastries are all delicious, but their secret weapon is the plethora of flavorful loose leaf teas. Free wi-fi login with your receipt, so a great spot to do work or relax.

Good pour overs in fun, oblong mugs. Their variety of sandwiches are tasty, but a bit expense. Still, a nice cup of their bean of the day with a healthy sandwich is a nice visit when you dont want to do it yourself home.

Oh man this place has some delicious cold brew. I make my own cold brew on the regular, but Tynan does it right. Great vibe in this place too. Good breakfast sandwiches. I stop by whenever Im in Columbia Heights.

They serve very good waffles coffees and teas. It seems like a cafe preferred by people who come along to work with their laptops and have meetings outside of home/office.

Good, not amazing coffee. Staff is friendly and courteous. I wish the food/snack options were better. I wish it stayed open later- I would probably come more often.

This is good place to have a coffee and do some work. The espressos are quite respectable and the furniture is comfortable.

They pull a good shot, have fast wifi. People park and work for hours (myself included) so it can be hard to find a table.

Nice location but middling coffee and food. If you want a bagel, walk a couple blocks west to Hellers Bakery
