I know that coffee purists drink it black, not even with milk, but I love my mocha. A good coffee place understands that a mocha is not supposed to be sweet. Sugar is added to chocolate to make it that way and today there are so many sources of yummy, well-balanced chocolates to use in a mocha. If I wanted something as sweet as what I received, I would have ordered a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. A good mocha is a cappuccino with a subtle chocolate taste. I should have know better when I asked about what sort of chocolate they use and the woman taking my order did not know nor could she explain its taste to me. I took a chance, since the place looks so cool and there is always a large crowd, and ordered it anyway. Second hint that it was going to be bad was that it was being served in a large coffee mug vs a cappuccino cup. It was SO sweet, but in a disturbing way - sort of like a combination of a sugar substitute mixed with cotton candy. It was so bad I left it in the dirty dish tray and left eating my ~$5 instead of drinking a delicious mocha Im used to getting at The Lofty Bean. I wont sway again, even if its more convenient....not worth it!

Ive had nothing but poor experiences with Better Buzz which is surprising because I loved the small shop in PB. The shop itself is beautifully designed and perfectly located so I was excited to try it out. The first few visits I had problems with my order, the coffee was cold and the service was terrible. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured they were new and just operationally getting started. I waited a couple months to try it again and unfortunately nothing improved. Ive had at least one thing wrong with every order. Im not exactly high maintenance but making a cup of coffee or an Americano is pretty straight forward. On top of that the shop is not dog friendly. They dont allow dogs in the store (unless you have a small dog and they seem to look past that) and there is nowhere to tie your dog up outside. Not even a water bowl. Its a shame for such a dog friendly town. Fortunately we have plenty of great coffee shops here. Javahut, Lofty, Ironsmith and even Starbucks are all run better.

The staff really operates well in a place that has a great buzz. They just opened in mid-August. Went there a dozen times while in the area for both business and R&R. Never disappointed. Great coffee and pastries in an inviting setting.Terriffic Acai Fruit Bowl (add coconut for extra taste treat). Such a delicous grand portion I needed a to go box.The sandwiches looked delicous. Always busy with a crowd of interesting looking people of all ages. Place got it going on. Spoke with young manager couple of times. Newer college grad. She radiates postive energy. The Buzz had staff in PINK raising funds for Race For The Cure, breast cancer research during my two weeks in Encinitas. Daily special kept the money coming in for this great cause. The coffee drinks...OUTSTANDING..prepared perfectly every visit. One of the best "coffee houses" ever and I travel widely. Will be there daily during a two week March visit.

Good coffee. Good food. BUT The wait is often really long and they should definitely have more than one cashier available for busy hours. Always a long wait. Baristas seem to have an "attitude" also, especially when they get busy. They try and act "fancy", for example; they have a product called Cold Brew NITRO, that because they want to make it seem premium/special they dont allow you to order it in a Large. Ive Never been to a restaurant or cafe that doesnt let the customer pay more for something because they want to make it appear "limited". (Its not Prada or Givenchy were talking about... its coffee). Too trendy if you ask me. Plus, I dont feel like you should ever tell a customer NO when theyre trying to pay you extra for something.

I recently decided to try this place due to its amazing ambience and long lines. I am not a coffee expert but I do drink a ton of coffee. I love this place. The service is amazing and I was shocked that they remembered my name after a couple of visits. That being said, I order a large "best drink ever" and I loved it. Im so addicted that I drove from my dental office in Sorrento valley and got my entire staff coffees between patients. They all loved it. They are now hooked. I never understand people who love rating places badly. I wish people could rate your personalities. The guys at Encinitas are awesome. Thanks Minh

I love the atmosphere! Very visually appealing, especially for the location. Its quite pleasant to enjoy a wide variety of coffee, tea, and food options with the open store front. Its usually pretty busy, but the wait isnt bad. The coffee options cater to any kind of coffee lover. Try the best drink ever if you have a sweet tooth. For a more selective palate, an iced Gibraltar is too divine to pass up. They make juices fresh to order that are heaven in a glass and the avocado feta toast on a hearty Multigrain bread is delicious. I havent tried everything on the menu yet but so far everything has really been tasty.

Great coffee shop (chain) with open air vibes. In addition to their assortment of beverage options, the menu offers a lot of great food and pastry choices. The open windows bring in a lot of natural light which makes for a great working environment if youre looking to bring your laptop and get some stuff done. As a bonus, the staff is always very friendly and upbeat. My only qualm here is that it tends to get crowded and, in addition to the fresh air the open windows bring in, a lot of flies tend to draw in as well; but even so, I would have to say that this is hands down the best coffee shop in the area.

A beautiful day for our bike ride today and as usual we enjoyed our lunch stopover here at Better Buzz.The service is always friendly and the quality of everything served is top notch.Today we felt like ice cold drinks to go with our grilled sandwiches.Thanks to Ariel and Josh for their friendly service.We love sitting upfront while enjoying our lunch and watching the activity outside.This is one of the best coffee shops of all the ones we have checked out in our travels.........We stopped by to have lunch on July 4th while out on our bike ride.Food and drinks were great!

Despite its fancy furnishings and hip customers, both their service and coffee were terrible. On both occasions that ive been, they forgot to make my drink, and when they did, i really didnt like the coffee they had to offer. It was luke warm and awful and Im pretty sure most coffee-houses around the area offer much better quality coffee. Im actually pretty sure starbucks makes better coffee than these chaps. 1/5.

Yikes, Better Buzz! I was just about to give you a higher rating when you blasted your music again... are you not wanting us to be able to hear each other talk? Or perhaps you think were already hard of hearing so you put the music at its highest setting? Better would be a peaceful environment with ambient music. Then at least we wouldnt be rushing to drink our coffee and run out the door...unless thats the point.
