This place is truly awesome. Have been living in El monte for 3 years now and just discovered it about 1 year ago and cant stop going back. The food is authentic Mexican. Martha the owner is very friendly and makes sure you are satisfied with your order. I cant give the waitress to much credit because Ive met about 3 of them and they just seem in a rush. They gotta take time to breathe and make better acknowlegement of the customers. But over all give it five stars because of the great taste and very good prices. Have tried about half the menu and have been satisfied with everything, but my favorite is the Chile relleno plate , Chile rojo and menudo. You all gotta try if in area.. You wont be disappointed. And yes you might have to wait a bit for a table but believe me itll be worth the wait.

Great food. In business for 40 years, but current property owner is trying to evict the restaurant owner in order to demolish the building & replace it with a warehouse. So sad for the woman who runs it. She has a 2nd grade education but has successfully put 2 kids through college, employs herself & others yet at the age of 73 is fighting a legal battle, that is costing her & her children a lot of money, but she may lose too big business.

Love this place its always been my favorite. Been coming her since I was a child with my family. Its real Mexican food not like all those other fake places. Everyones very friendly and you always feel at home like family. Its a small place but the food is to die for. Prices are good. It gets packed on the weekends but I dont mind the wait.

breakfast was yummy and the homemade salsa and chips - OMG....we live an hour away - yet the drive is well worth returning. also truly felt the owner and employees cared about the quailty of not only the food, but the way this little placed shined.

Ive lived not two blocks from this place for the longest and just went a week ago and fell in love with the huevos rancheros!! Very delicious and love the Elvis decor...oh and the homemade salsa. ..... fabulous!!!!

Excellent taste. My favorite is the Chile Relleno burrito... MMmmm, the shrimp cocktail, Veggie A la Mexicana. No wonder the owner, Martha, has been in business for 33 years. Truly a jewel of a place.
