Decided to take my wife for sushi today for mothers day. Saw that place was full so I told my wife I would go ahead and she could run an errand she wanted to do. Got there, put my name on the list and waited. Half hour later a table cleared. I asked the server for the table. To my surprise he stated they dont seat people untill the whole party is there and sat another group of people that just walked in. I was shocked. All restaurants I have been to before (and there has been many, I am older) I have not only been able to go ahead and get a table but order as well (which was my plan). So I left while I told the guy his policy sucked! If they have such a policy you would think it would be common courtesy to let you know before you waste your time there waiting, specially when he had asked me before the number of people in my party and shown him my name on his list. He never thought it relevant to kind of mention it. Yes never going back there. The food is not god cuisine that would offset the negative experience in any way shape or form.

The reviews before me were right, this place is great! We had the tempura and gyoza appetizers, the tempura was wonderful, the gyoza pretty normal fare, perhaps a little small for the price. The dragon roll I ordered was very good, the right size for the price, could have used a little bit more of the teriyaki sauce over it though. For the main course we shared a combination platter with the teriyaki beef and chicken katsu. The beef was wonderfully tender, although a bit rarer than what we expected for "medium", and the chicken katsu was very flavorful and crunchy. I highly suggest having a glass of the plum wine as well, the smell and taste of it was wonderful throughout the dinner. The place was very packed the night we came, but the service was still very timely and polite. We will definitely be returning again, although maybe not stuff ourselves quite so much next time.

Awesome sushi, great attentive staff, nice atmosphere. I cant recommend Crystal Fish enough. We loved everything we ordered and wish wed been in town longer so we could have come back to try more things. You could tell the ingredients were super fresh and everything was served promptly so it was the perfect temperature. We showed up during prime time for dinner on a Saturday night so there was a bit of a wait but it was completely worth it. They have a simple list at the front that you sign in yourself and mark if you are looking for a table, willing to sit at the bar or either. Since there were just two of us it was easy to sit at the bar and we loved the experience of being so close to the chef making our sushi. Easy parking nearby, the metered spots were free after 6pm.

Crystal Fish is one of my most favorite sushi places in Monterey. Ive been converting people to their Pink Lady Hand Roll ever since I tried it three years ago - worth every calorie! Theyre close to my office so I go there a lot for my Pink Lady fix. The owner and staff are very friendly and if you inform them of a birthday celebration, the birthday girl/boy is subjected to a cake hat and a tempura banana dessert on the house. Theyre packed at night, so either come early or expect to wait! And theyre finally open Saturdays for lunch, after my years of requests!

Im not a big seafood fan, and I shy away from sushi. But an evening out with friends to Crystal Fish meant I was able to experience this restaurants offerings and was very pleasantly surprised. Their Sesame and Teryaki chicken dishes are the best Ive had. Ever. And their California Roll was delicious. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their sushi, and my partner tried a couple off the wall preparings and was as delighted as I for finding some new dishes to please our palettes. Recommended!

I gave this restaurant five stars based on the food alone. My husband loves sushi and he said that it was really good. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was also really good. The locals were also eating there which is an indication that their food was good. The staff was super nice. We had a two year old with us that was having some issues and they were very nice about everything. I would caution you though that it is crowded so you will likely have to wait in line outside.

For a guy who doesnt like fish, I really like Crystal Fish. This review is for their teriyaki and non-fish dishes. If youre like me, you have several options. The chicken teriyaki is great -- its cooked well, the sauce is delicious, and the portions are large. The combination boxes also give you a lot of variety, and everything tastes like its been professionally prepared. If you want a roll but cant handle fish, try the shrimp tempura roll, which is light and crunchy.

My favorite restaurant in Monterey. The quality and freshness of the fish is just amazing and the price is very reasonable. Two tips: 1 Get the specials, they are always amazing. If youre never tried Rainbow Trout sushi you need to. Just as buttery as salmon buy even more flavorful. 2 The Sushi Deluxe Dinner is always a great choice. Just a dozen pieces of amazing, different types of nigiri. This dinner also often includes a few of the specials as well!

We went to Crystal Fish based on the positive reviews we found here on google and we were blown away by our experience there. The sea urchin, whether raw or isobeyaki style, was delicious and I would highly recommend that you get the real wasabi. You may never want to eat fake wasabi again. The staff was courteous and friendly, and the owner / top sushi chef was both entertaining and skilled. Absolutely delicious.

Amazing! Seriously! Super fresh, great customer service, moderate prices. They will make custom rolls to meet your satisfaction and the fish wont even need soy sauce or extra wasabi. Crystal Fish is simple and puts all their focus on the fish. Alcohol is slightly over priced but so what if you get great sushi You will like this restaurant.

I loved this restaurant. Fresh fish, great service and a reasonable price. Dont expect a fancy place, its more on the "roots" side (which is a positive point for me). I will definitely return there whenever I have the chance to visit Monterey again. Update: one year later, here I am again and once again five stars :-) food and service still great.

If I could give it more stars I most definitely would. Bee always makes my wife and I feel welcome. The food is absolutely exquisite. We come at least two times a week. The environment is great and comforting. Although there is a waiting period on Friday nights, we gladly wait because it is worth it. We give it two big thumbs up!!

Worth the wait! We waited about 30 minutes for a table for 5 but was not disappointed! Neither will you. We had a variety of items for dinner. Seasame chicken was awesome as was the golden Cali rolls and pink dragon. Roll. Taiyaki for dessert was to die for! Service was excellent, food came quick, even for how busy they were!
