Ive never felt more ripped off by a restaurant. I like yakiniku, love izakaya grub, and Gyu-Kaku does that fine. Probably overpriced, whatever. However, our grill had major issues. Only one of the 5 charcoals was glowing. Food was taking 5 minutes to cook properly, rather than the 1 minute to 40 seconds. That resulted in our food either being raw or un-seared gray pieces of meat. So I complained, said our grill was broken, I thought we need new charcoal. Instead all that happened was the waitstaff trying to convince me that it was fine. They didnt change anything with the grill. So I just thought that this place was an overpriced gimmick that doesnt work very well. I get up to use the bathroom, and the table next to us clearly has all 5 of their charcoals lit and glowing red hot. And thats when I feel like I was conned. Now I know that it wasnt malicious, it was incompetence. But the fact is that we complained, politely, several times about the issue, only to have the people who supposedly work there day in day out to tell us were wrong, when ultimately it was clear as night and day that our grill was broken. It was absolutely ridiculous, and resulted in our food , which is easily 45 dollars a head pre-booze, being either lifelessly gray or raw. Its fine for a restaurant to make a mistake, I know that these grills can be temperamental. But when the issue was raised, politely, to be brushed aside like we were was disheartening, especially when in the end we were correct. We had a meal where the main cooking apparatus was operating at 20%. Manager made it all good, right? Nope! 15% pre-tax discount. To be fair, she was great at listening to me rant, and said that is all she can do as she is limited by the larger organization. So go her, I hope she finds a better place to work which would actually allow proper customer service. (She escalated to corporate, if they come through for me Ill be sure to update, happily.) What a joke. Dont go here.

The worst Gyu-Kaku location that Ive been to. We had RSVPs here but we were 10 min late & they had given it to some other group. Our group already had people there but they wouldnt let us sit unless we had everyone there. Service 0 stars Waiter gave me an attitude when I told him that my friends bowl had a huge crack in it & he just said it was ok. Meat bibimbap had barely any meat in it at all. Waiter took forever with our orders & never came by to fill up our drinks / clear our empty/ dirty plates. -2 He never changed our grills until we had to bug him about it. -1 We had to keep waving him over to get any kind of service & hed zoom off right after doing something which made it impossible to ask for anything else. -1 They kept messing up our orders. -1 Food is about the same as the other locations. Meh.. Id rather go to ktown for kbbq for better food & service. =)

This is the place I go early in the morning if Im craving for hot steamy noodle to start the day. Its so good that it makes your stomach so warm and comfortable. The Kalgooksu they have is different from traditional Kalgooksu. I like the beefy soup, stir fried taste of the vegetables, and meat garnish. It really stands out from others. Theyre very consistent about their food. Every time I visit, food tastes the same all the time. Thats a good thing about it when you already know what to expect to get. The atmosphere is quiet in the morning which I like my morning to be. The waitress there is super friendly too. Im regular Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ.

My wife and I got the meat lovers happy hour special. My wife got addicted to the miso soup (good thing for me I get more meat). The cheese wontons did not have enough cheese in it. Personally premium sirloin was my favorite. It had a good amount of garlic flavor and my wife left it on the grill for a short time which I like Im more of a medium rare meat person. Every dish they brought was presented well. Did not like the wait time to sit. But the food is good so a lot of people come to eat here. The server was nice. They have really good prices. Deserving of the 5 stars.

Best place for group dinners! I love cooking our food together while we socialize. Get a big course and cook your heart out. I love the chicken with cheesy dip and all of the different marinated beefs. The mushrooms are also yummy. ****TIP- If you are coming with a large party, encourage everyone to be there on time as they wont seat you until everyone is present.

This place is horrible! Me and my friends waited outside for over an hour then once we went inside to ask why other parties went in front of us the hostess said "I forgot about you" guess it was because we were black! We didnt even get to eat because the hostess said itd be another 45min wait for us! So I cant comment on the food but I know the service is poor!

If you are a fan of Japanese style BBQ, you should definitely check out this place (not the one on Pico Blvd). The service is good and food is tasty. Its not the cheapest BBQ place but their food quality justifies the price. Oh, and if you can get here during happy hours, lots of items are $1 or $2 cheaper than their regular price!

As much as I like gyu kaku in other locations, this place is just okay. The waiting area is very small and gets crowded fast--very annoying. Although you can order drinks while you wait, theres typically limited space to stand or sit by the bar. Prices are pretty good during happy hour,so Id recommend coming then.

No solo la comida es increíble, sino el precio también. Me ha encantado y es el único sitio que voy a repetir en mis vacaciones por América.

The selection is better than any Korean bar-b-que that Ive been too. The meat and vegetables are always fresh and the seasonings are great. They also have lunch deals, happy hour, and 2 people dinner deals. For this great food, prices, and atmosphere theres no better spot.

The interior is much bigger than I expected and everything we had tasted great. Parking is a bit of a problem though. Theres a lot of permit only residential parking, so leave a little early if you want to be on time.

Going here is always a fun time. The food is good, and I love the salad with egg. Only recommendation I would have is that they cut down on all the menus. I think last we were there they handed us 4 or 5 menus.

The concept: They deliver a large plate of well seasoned meat and optional vegetables to your table, which you can grill using the grill built into your table, and eat over rice. Darn tasty, at a good value.

Tried Gyu-Kaku for LA Restaurant Week. The meat quality was good but its nothing special. The best part was dessert where they let you toast marshmallows over the grill to make smores.

Atmosphere was nice, happy hour is the best time to go Parking can be tricky, as they share a valet with the neighboring restaurant. Sunday meter parking is free
