We must have caught them on an off night. We stopped by the other night to grab some "to-go" dinners. I realize it was toward the end of the day and it may have explained our experience. First off, the staff was friendly and welcoming and the place was spotless, the smoke aroma outside made me think something was going to be great. We ordered two, two-meat plates so we could test all that they had (Apparently brisket is an UPGRADE for $2 more? Never heard of that!). We loaded up on sides and headed home (Less than 5 min away). What started out as a good experience quickly turned on us. The brisket ($2 upcharge!?!?) was mushy with no smoke flavor at all. Same with the pulled pork. The sausage was so dry that it was nearly inedible and the chicken, albeit moist and tender, was average at best. All in all, the sides were decent, the help fantastic, but the meat left A LOT to be desired. And after all, isnt the meat what you go to a BBQ for? In addition, for the price of the meal, the serving size was on the small side. This restaurant came highly recommended and as I said, perhaps we hit it on a bad night, but Im not certain Ill be returning.

Went here yesterday with my friend after a movie. It was so good! I had the sliced brisket, mac n cheese, and the smashed potatoes. I love brisket, and get it every time I get bbq, and these guys did not disappoint! It was so tender it melted in my mouth! The whole reason we went was because I wanted mac n cheese and this stuff is tasty! Oh, and the smashed potatoes! I love, love, love when they leave the skin in mashed potatoes! The people working were beyond nice. It was some young girls and they were very patient and let me try the different bbq sauces before I decided which one I wanted on my meat. The owner was so nice, he was friendly and chatty and after I paid he told me to go back so they could give me more meat, because he didnt think I had enough. His wife, the other owner, cam out and refilled my water and chatted with us for a minute. What a sweetheart! Just a wonderful place, with wonderful food, and wonderful people. I will be going back as soon as possible!

First Ill start out with the staff was very friendly. The place was clean. The tables were cute. The menu is in a ridiculous spot though. Youre only given so many options for food. And for the quality and amount, the price isnt worth it.. Im all about going local and even paying more to keep them a float but this wasnt great. Meat was overdone, mashed potatoes were cold and kind of hard, chicken was dry. Had to add a lot of salt for flavor and the sauces they give arent good unless you like vinegar burning your nose. I wasnt impressed. For the amount we spent, we could have went to the place in Riverdale. Got better quality, more food, and they would have had ribs- not just on fridays. Thats what we were wanting as well as the people who walked in, walked out, and left. I thought everything in Texas was bigger and full of flavor? But I guess only the check is big haha.

I had heard people rave about this place so we decided to make the 30 minute drive out there to try it. We are from Texas and we ourselves like to occasionally make our own brisket at home so we were looking forward to some great Texas BBQ that we didnt have to make ourselves. We tried the chopped brisket sandwich, pulled pork, sliced brisket, sausage, Mac n cheese and the potatoes. This food overall wasnt just bad, it was actually the worst bbq we have ever had. The sauce tasted like straight tomato paste. At least when the meat is tasteless if you have a good sauce its still edible but their sauce made it inedible. I doctored up my Mac n cheese and ate it and half of the bread from my sandwich. My husband picked at his and mostly finished his sides... Most of our food went in the trash. To top it off they were out of sweet tea. So disappointed.

Im from San Antonio Texas and a big bbq fanatic. This place has a good flavor. Brisket options need a more marbled version. Their lean brisket is soft but not juicy like the brisket Im used to from Texas. Sausage was kinda dry vs juicy sausages like kielbasa sausages. The potato salad was spot on from what Im used to and the bbq sauce reminds me of the stuff from a big chain in Texas called Bill mollers. Would eat here more often if more marbled brisket was availiable. Good food try it out!

Torn between giving 3 and 4 stars. I gave it the benefit of the doubt because we will be back for sure. We liked most of what we had (like the chicken quarter and the unique huckleberry soda) but the chopped brisket had way to much sauce and the cole slaw was very soupy (although the cole slaw still had a good flavor.) It was a clean restaurant and now that we know not to order the chopped brisket we will go back to try some of their other meats.

Ate here for the first time today with my husband. The ribs and pulled pork we got were delicious. Staff was friendly, and the place had a nice ambiance. Just wish you could try the different kinds of BBQ sauce before they put it on your food.... maybe they could put it in those little plastic sample cups instead of directly on your food? Pricing was fair. Overall great experience. Would definitely go back again!

Im always looking for that Mon & Pop place to eat at. Found another good one. The Lost Texan. I went there with friends and we each picked a different meat and side items. Then we shared them. All the Meats were great! I especially like the Pulled Pork and the Smashed Potatoes. The serving sizes are bigger than most for a good price. The staff are family and they treat you as such when your there.

First off, the food is wonderful. I even loved the green beans, which is saying something. When one of the ribs was to small, he threw another on the plate to make up for it. The staff was awesome! Id recommend half spicy half mild barbecue sauce, its not overpowering spicy but not too sweet. They were out of the ranch mashed potatoes, but Im coming back to try them.

We first tried this place because they had catered a party we attended. I thought the food was good and prompted us to try it again at the store location. I have to say that, it was not as good as we previously thought. However, the location was clean and the service was awesome. We will continue to go as this is really the only decent BBQ place close to our home.

Its way to costly for what it is. A three meat plate and add the sliced brisket for $17! I was given one ice cream size scoop of potatoes and one of green beans, they were not even hot. I had higher hopes for the place. The ribs were very good with the Carolina sauce. It just was in no way $17 good. For that price Ill go to Smokeys and get a half rack of ribs.
