This place is funky looking, and the cashier / server / owner(?) is a little cranky and moody, but when youve come in a few times and know what you want, he warms up quite a lot. The portion sizes are great! Another reviewer mentioned that the food quality was "just ok". I have news for you...its Hawaiian BBQ!!! There is lots of sugar in the BBQ sauce, they have white rice and mac salad (mac an mayo)...thats what Hawaiian BBQ kind of is! The prices are great, the portion sizes are great (shredded pork and cabbage (you have to ask for the cabbage, and it costs a bit extra, but its worth it!) is excellent and its enough for two or three meals. This is a hidden gem in El Cerrito if what you want is real, good Hawaiian BBQ and dont mind that it hasnt been repainted in a while and sometimes is a bit drafty. Its not a place for a fine dining experience, but its real Hawaiian BBQ!!

The person at the register was very rude. He Would not accept my debit card when I was trying to get a couple sodas, so i decided to use some cash instead. I put the cash on the counter and said "here I can pay cash instead" The man at the register claimed I "threw the money at him" which I did not. Very unpleasant experience and would defer anyone from coming to this place because of the rude staff.

Warning: if you have any cholesterol problems, stay upwind of this restaurant. Like all Hawaiian cuisine, all dishes are at least 50 percent mayonnaise. The cloying levels of fat make it difficult to enjoy the food, but aside from that, the food is tasty and a good value for the money. If for some reason you need to consume two days worth of calories in a meal, this is the place.

I ordered a katsu plate, a chicken musubi, and a side order of portuguese sausage today. The side order of sausage came with ONE 1cm slice of sausage in a paper bag. Im not kidding or exaggerating. Thats like asking for a side of fries and getting ONE french fry.

cashier put wrong payment amount in the computer of $2.71 instead of $27.18 and then explained we didnt have enough money on card when in actually he input the wrong amount. He then refused to apologize. The food was at best mediocre and service below par.

Great taste no other place will match the fresh taste of the meat this is the only place I go to. I have tried other places and not only did the food not taste great the portions were very small

Great value for large, fresh meat portions. Not a lot of healthy options but if youre hungry and dont want to spend a fortune, this place always hits the spot but not the wallet.

Its okay; but the least of only 3 Hawaian BBQ places Ive been so far (other two are in Downtown Hayward and Downtown Berkeley). I want to give it 2.5 stars to be honest.
