We were looking for Indian cuisine around this part of town and trusty ol Yelp directed us to this hidden gem. This restaurant is nestled right next to the 51 in a tiny little cluster of shops. Underwhelming when you walk in, and the first thing I noticed was despite the 109 degree temperature outside, the interior of this restaurant was even hotter. But we really wanted Indian :) For $8.99 we ordered the chicken Masala and for another $3.50, two pieces of large naan bread, cut in half. One plain, and one garlic. I found the coolest place in the small restaurant (right next to the soda cooler) and we waited for the food to come out. The food was served on Styrofoam plates which for me, is a negative. But this was hands down the best Chicken Masala Ive ever had. The flavor was spot on with just enough heat but not too much. The garlic naan was incredible, and the plain naan was as expected. The dish was served with a plate of jasmine rice cooked to perfection. Id say that one dish was certainly enough for two people- I did not leave feeling hungry nor did I leave feeling uncomfortably full. The bathroom.. well, it left things to be expected. Wasnt necessarily the cleanest faciity but I wasnt there for the bathrooms, after all. Despite its quirks, I can say with certainty that we will be back!

Beware , This place will loot you. Never ever place party orders here. They will loot you and make you embarrassed in front of your guest. I had a very bad experience with them. I ordered a half tray panner butter masala for a party. I was in a hurry, so didnt get much time to read reviews and look around other restaurant options. Anyway, my bad luck. When I called them to check the rate they said $50 for half tray. When I reach there to place the order and pay in advance they said the rate $60. Since no option at that time I placed the order. On the day of party I just picked it and open it at the venue. Later only I noticed that my veg guests are searching for panner pieces in that pool of half tray gravy. There were hardly 10-15 pieces of panner in that whole tub of gravy. A real embarrassing situation. If its just a home party, I could have returned it back to the shop. Since invited people are there I couldnt do that because that was the only option for my veg guest. No business should loot customers like this. Bawarichi, You might have obtained a good profit in that. But remember you are digging you own grave.

Excellent biriyani! I can honestly say that the biriyani here is better than any I have had in Hyderabad. Im a vegetarian, and can only talk about vegetable biriyanis. So, your experience may vary. I cant comment on the non vegetarian items on the Bawarchi menu, but Im guessing that they are made in authentic Andhra style. They make biriyani in big batches. So, they cant adjust the spice levels for your individual taste. If you ask them for more or less spice level, depending on who is taking the order, they may say, "okay". But they dont really adjust the spice levels. I think the best time to get biriyani at Bawarchi is around noon when its very fresh. Vegetarian selections are very limited, but the great vegetable biriyani makes it worthwhile. I have had friends come all the way from Tempe just for the biriyani here! Seating & ambiance can best be described as "a hole in the wall" kind of place. So, not ideal for big groups or special occasions. But if you want to take the food home and enjoy, you cant go wrong. PS: They wont accept credit card if your bill is less than $10, which is annoying.

We went to this place based on the reviews & were Very disappointed. The place is an overcrowded dump with a bunch of cluttered tables & chairs squeezed together. We ordered a Masala Dosa (which came with fried potatoes rather than the usual fare & the sambar was so very watered down that we could not recognize if it was really sambar). For the main course, we ordered Fish curry, which is the most expensive dish on the entire menu. The fish was far from mediocre in preparation & they served it in styrofoam containers. Spare yourself the pain folks - look elsewhere. This is a far cry from the usual Indian food.

We ordered the "Keema Naan" and "Special Chicken Biryani" using the GRUB HUB service around 6:45PM to pick up around 7:15PM. "Special Chicken Biryani" was the worst as it is just the Masala Rice and completely. The Raitha they gave along with the Biryani was bitter in taste. The worst part is that looks like they added the remaining chicken 65 pieces from the lunch preparation. Those are the only chicken pieces. REALLY PATHETIC. I will never ever order anything from "Bawarchi Indian Cuisine" again in my life as the food is PATHETIC. This is the worst Indian food that I have ever tried so far in Phoenix Area.

$10 for a small Styrofoam Dixie dish of average at best chicken tikka masala. I also experienced the owner/operator arguing with family on the other side of the counter. Argued prices with the customers before me, most of which had duct taped price changes on the overhead menu. And most of all, I didnt really feel welcome as a white guy, should have turned around and left when I walked in the door and everyone in the place stopped talking and turned around to stare at me. I love Indian cuisine, Ill find somewhere else to get it.

Great food at a reasonable cost. This is honestly the best tasting Indian food I have had in the states and it is very consistently good. I usually do take out since the restaurant is smaller, but they recently upgraded the tables and chairs and it feels a lot cleaner and nicer than before. I have ordered the chicken and goat biryani, all of the chicken dishes (especially the masala and korma), the lamb korma, bread pudding, naan and everything has been delicious. Highly recommended.

I had seen the very negative reviews on Yelp so I wasnt expecting much but was not prepared for absolutely inedible their fare is. Hopefully they will close down soon. The place is apparently operated by the only Indians ever that cant cook anything. Soooo much salt! The atmosphere was also depressed as if people came there to eat sorrow and misery. The plates and silverware were so cheap that it was hard to bring the food to my table in them. Horrible, horrible, horrible!

We ordered the "Bisibelabath" and "Mutton Biryani" using the GRUB HUB service. Bisibelabath was the worst as it is just the color rice and completely dry. The Raitha they gave along with the Biryani was bitter in taste. For sure I will not be ordering or enter into "Bawarchi Indian Cuisine" again in my life as they are just heating the Biryani and giving as well. We have just thrown everything in thrash. This is the worst south Indian food that I have ever tasted.

Worst place. Never go there. The owner does not know how to behave with customers. He is a complete a**. The place is dirty, tables are small and uncomfortable. I would have given -5 star if possible. Apart from everything, the biggest dislike is the man who owns the business should learn how to talk with customers otherwise should do some other job. DONt VISIT THERE
