I had been going to this place since we moved to the West Valley...5 years. We loved it because the sushi was delicious and the happy hour was great. We were frequent customers. The food there is tastier than most places. Unfortunately, the last year or so, the service has gone down tremendously. I have watched people walk out of the restaurant, frustrated because they didnt get any service. This one time my son ordered the sesame chicken and the server/manager kept trying to bring us the spicy sesame chicken. That meal is ridiculously hot for a 5 year old. She then accused me of ordering it and insisted that my kid eat it. Seriously??? My son and I walked out the last time we were there. We sat for 15 minutes and nobody ever came to take our drink order. Its as if we were invisible. I can only assume that Tomo is going to be closing soon because there is no way that a restaurant with this poor service and poor customer service can remain open. We are glad to have found a better place to dine.

Have been going to Tomo Sushi for YEARS. We go probably several times a month. Have "recruited" several families who also love it. It WAS great, now horrible. The food is still great....unbelievable freshness for the middle of the desert. But the service, particularly the managers, his horrible. They just do not care about servicing the customers...especially in this horrible economy. They run out of beer? They wont let you order something you have ordered for years even though it is the same ingredients as other dishes? And then they talk to you like garbage when you try to explain the growing problems. So weird. This GEM of the West Valley is going downwards. The wait staff is great. Management is horrible. Miss the old chefs. The new chefs look at you like you are the enemy. So weird.

Ive going here for the last 5 years and its always been great. The eel nigiri is amazing and the unaju(eel in bento box). They do have options for people that are allergic to shellfish. My fiancé is allergic and he get the Golden Caterpillar(fried, eel, cucumber and avocado) but you could always alter rolls to, if youre adding itll cost extra or course :). My recommendations would be Delux roll, Sunset roll, Rockstar roll, Dragon roll, Goodyear roll, Golden Caterpillar roll, Eel nigiri, Unaju and Masago(caplin fish eggs, very small and orange) Nigiri. And weve tried nearly all of the appetizers and have loved all of them. If you like spicy foods they do have something for you. Lastly they have simple food options for kids like fried rice and basic rolls too.

Been here 3 times, the food is Ok, i decided to try some spicy ramen, it was not that great no flavor at all. Anyway there is this waitress named Alize young thin girl with long hair a bit curly, she was cleaning the table next to us with a wooden divider next to my wife when all lf a sudden she made a loud thud on the divider and it startled me and my wife, we are ot overreacting she hit the divider pretty hard while my wife was sipping her soup, my wife wasnt happy of course and gave her a bit of an evil stare and she noticed this and stared back at my wife without apologizing. So I asked her name and even verified it to my waitress if that was her name. So for all u Tomo regulars make sure u guys stay away from a waitress named Alize

Tomo is an excellent restaurant, The menu is good, lots of variety, classic sushi and sashimi, tempura, Udon, a really nifty seaweed salad with sesame seeds, and an awe inspiring selection of rolls and bakes a la California. Complimentary Miso soup, a three hour happy hour and some of the best waitresses in the valley. I am in and out of there, it is close to the LA Fitness and is convenient and inexpensive and very, very tasty. I take a lot of girls there and the waitresses are always rating them for me when I come in alone. So, in summary, excellent food. Great value, Friendly and attentive waitresses. And lots of TVs tuned to games so if you cant love the one youre with, at least you can watch a game.

Horrible customer service!!!! My boyfriend placed a take-out order at this resturant which we frequently go to. When I went to pick up the order they would not honor the price they quoted us over the phone. When I was talking to the hostess about our order the manager came over and was very rude and non understanding and said maybe we placed the order with a different sushi resturant but yet they had our order bagged and ready to go under my boyfriends name?? I offered to pay the regular price just to get our food and be done with this awkward situation and he refused our buisniness?!... I have never felt so humilitated or embarresad in my life....WHATEVER HAPPEND TO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE?!

This is a little late but better late then never. Loved going here but decided to have my birthday get together here and let me tell you total mess!!! I called in advanced to reserve an area as we were a large group and they said they could manage something for us. Well we were somewhat together meaning in the same area some people sitting together others in booths. Then when they messed up on the majority of our orders towards the end the manager finally came over and reduced our bill by 10%( i guess better then nothing right) also the waitress spilled a drink on my brand new dress and didnt even apologize!!! I havent been back since and dont plan on gonig back!!!

I judge all sushi places on their spicy tuna roll and their variety of orthodox variety of sushi rolls. Not on the fusion rolls. I have eaten golden medallion sushi. Ive had yellow fin tuna caught of the shores of Hokkaido. I was disappointed with the spicy tuna. Ive been here in the past and the spicy tuna was good but not this time. I dont know if the waitress was going blind or something but when I ordered a large asahi she gave me a dirty cup. Not good. But I do give them two stars for their yakitori, the sauce was good and the tori was tender. I dont think Id come back until the service and the options have changed.

Food is good, service needs a lot of work. Weve been going to Tomo on and off for a couple of years now. Every time we go the service reminds us why we havent been in a while. They must be paying the wait staff minimum wage because its obvious that none of them are terribly motivated. Theyll disappear for extended periods of time, not bother to refill drinks, and will neglect to put orders in properly and timely so food is delayed. Luckily, if you live in the area there is another place called Nakama almost next door where the food is just as good and the service is MUCH better.

GREAT sushi but POOR service. If they had better wait staff/training/management, it would be THE best sushi restaurant in the west valley. Unfortunately, this has happened everytime Ive eaten there. I mean bad service to the point of being completely ignored and waiting 20 minutes just to get a glass of water. Didnt even SEE a waitress to flag down. I keep going, hoping for a change because the sushi is really that good, but I think Ill just stick with Nakama from now on. Same location, excellent service, really good sushi and less expensive. Sorry Tomo. You lost me this time.
