Have you ever wanted a date night but couldn’t get a babysitter and didn’t want to spend another dinning experience at one of the large family chain restaurants? Ever thought you would find a small little sushi restaurant that would welcome you and your little two year old on a Friday night during dinner rush? The reviews are all ravingly accurate about Hana on 7th Ave, especially the family friendly atmosphere and amazing customer service. I am always skeptical even when a restaurant is supposed to have great service. I am just your average woman in her 20’s with a two year old daughter and husband who likes good food, not a fancy or well known critic that gets treated with extra care. The restaurant is deceivingly small, with only a few tables and a even smaller patio. When you walked in your are welcomed and although small, they flip tables so fast that you don’t have to wait long. We were seated toward the back, but I was aware that there was a table of little ones right in front so it wasn’t the kid factor but what was available. The staff was patient with us while we decided and went over the specials in detail, including the one for kids not on the menu. Our drinks never even made it to the ¼ mark without being refilled and a moment didnt go by where every need wasnt tended to. At one point my two year old started to throw a temper tantrum and walking out side I expected the normal looks of annoyance on my way out and back to the table. Instead I got looks of concern on my way out and was asked if there was anything they could get us when we returned with only the most sincere tones. I felt this was a place that understands I still want to eat out and have my child learn proper restaurant edict even while on the learning curve. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the Las Vegas Roll. My husband had the Shake, grilled teriyaki salmon, which was DELICIOUSE! Everything was fresh and the temperature and texture was perfect. This is by far our new favorite date night pick. It is a little pricy but well worth it. I have never felt so happy with the customer service and the menu was so intriguing we ordered way to much giving us late night snacks and lunch for the next day. Best Sushi/ Customer Service in AZ

A bit of good and bad all around -- expensive in comparison, but authentic Japanese food. Huge portions. Wifey has a tiny stomach capacity so we brought much of it home. She took a very long time to decide due to the high prices, and we almost left, when she decided on the ribeye. A good choice, the steak was amazing and full of awesome flavor. Though a bento box or a few rolls would have been nice, I chose tonkatsu ramen and it was good with lots of delightful goodies in the broth. For drinks, though they dont serve alcohol you can BYOB. I asked for hot tea, and got a can of green tea soda and cup of ice. I ordered seaweed salad, and was brought a lettuce side salad followed by the one I ordered. Next an oyster shooter. It was $9 for one presented in a small dark bowl which arrived the same time as the main course, I paused a bit, being used to seeing them viewable in a clear shot glass. Nevertheless it was tasty. On to the service: Before entering the restaurant we were greeted then seated quickly. Parking was surprisingly plentiful given the small lot, we lucked out and got a place near the door. Quite attentive wait and sushibar staff, all appropriate pleasantries spoken in Japanese, respectful and honoring us. Though the room temperature was uncomfortably hot, overall nice experience. Were on a budget so could not splurge on things we really wanted to try. Would return again at a less busy time with lower prices and less heat.

When Hana opened I was very impressed to have a great Japanese in my neighborhood. And the first time that I ate there, they had beautifully prepared my favorite fish, halibut, in rosettes, and I had tried the tuna Toro, which was a little too fatty for my tastes. Now, keep in mind, this place is priced a little more on the high side, so I would expect the authenticity and creativity of their Japanese chefs. However, on my recent visit I was disappointed. They basically layered extremely thin and chewy pieces of one portion of halibut sashimi and next to it put a pile of what looked like discarded fragments or cut-offs of a second order of halibut. Unfortunately, the response that I got was that this was the authentic way of presenting halibut and that the tendon that made it hard to eat, was normal. Also, the salmon sashimi was sliced extremely thin and had a slimy texture. Im sorry, but authenticity aside, I insist on consistency, quality, and exceptional customer service when I eat out. Instead, I will stick with my favorites: Hiro Sushi in Scottsdale. They have the traditional Japanese chefs and consistently good fish. Secondly, I have been recently impressed with Zen32. They had very thick pieces of fresh and cold Ahi tuna and salmon sashimi. The only drawback: they didnt have halibut on the menu. Oh well.

Good food, but if you dont like fish flavor dont get Ramen. I thought I was getting a stir fry yakisoba type of meal and I got a super fishy flavored Ramen soup that I thought was beyond horrible. I almost puked when I tried the broth. I was with my wife and son, we barely have money to eat out anyway and we unfortunately tried this place. Over priced, your still hungry after a meal(we all were) and I very nicely told them about the Ramen and the misunderstanding and they made no attempt to comp us. Any other restaurant would have. At least let me get something else, I spent my last buck on that meal and got totally screwed over. I hate fish. That Ramen was so fishy it was insane. Why cant they put a note to let us know it will taste like wet dog with fish on the menu? So pissed off. I never leave reviews, but this experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth big time. Owner just glared at us and never offered anything or said sorry, we were being really nice too. Im telling everyone I know to NEVER go here. Worst experience I had in years.

went yesterday to Hanas which would have been the third time there. Ive found the food to be kinda high priced but in my neighborhood. I was the first customer there. I informed the gentleman in charge of seating that I would like to sit at the sushi bar and a friend would be joining me. He said "wait I have to ask the manager if I can seat you"...there were no other customers!. I guess he got the OK as I was seated at the bar. I ordered 2 miso soups, one for me and one for my friend. When My friend arrived he sat next to me at the bar. The waiter came over and told him rudely, "you need to sit at the end of the bar"...again...no one else in the place. When the waitress brought the soups she said "ohh...I thought they were both for you" in a rude manner...My friend, feeling now uncomfortable said lets just leave. The worst, rudest behavior I have ever seen!!! never again
