This restaurant is absolutely terrible. Chefs are hit or miss, the one we had at our table today was atrocious. He did not do anything near interesting while he was cooking, while the chef on the other table was generating applause and laughter ours was not. I found myself peeking over at the other table because our chef was so boring, he kept saying "hungry hungry" while he passed the food onto the plate. I asked for a MEDIUM teppanyaki beef and I received WELLDONE beef with teriyaki sauce, purchased at costco. The teriyaki sauce they use can be purchased at any grocery store and why the hell any restaurant would use something like is beyond me, unless of course they cant make anything better. Portions were WAY too small and is WAY overpriced. No way in HELL am I coming here EVER again. I could make food better than this restaurant EVER could and for a fraction of the price. Please dont get suckered in by any of the other reviews, because they are all wrong about the place. If you want good japanese food, go to Kyoto, or Koyo because those places kick the shi* out of this restaurant and it is cheaper than bonsai too. You will not be disappointed if you go to Kyoto or Koyo, BUT if you go to bonsai, you will be kicking yourself in the head wondering why you didnt go to Koyo or Kyoto instead. You will be saying to yourself, "Why didnt I take Davids advice????"

The people are nice enough, BUT The staff here does not understand what it means to have a food allergy, and totally do not understand cross contamination. We informed them that we had shrimp allergies and they confirmed with us multiple times. Then the chef proceeded to cook the shrimp FIRST, dragging the shrimp all over the hibachi grill. He said he would clean his spatula before cooking our food. So he wiped it with his rag. We werent okay with that, so he switched to a new spatula. Was that ok? No, because the grill was still covered in shrimp. He offered to wipe the grill clean. We asked for our food to be cooked in the back so the other patrons dinners wouldnt be interrupted. This upset the chef very much and he expressed his frustrations with us. At the end of the meal, he showed us how he wouldve clean the grill. With a steel scrubber and water. Which he swished around the grill with very little effort. Leaving the grill so disgustingly dirty. I looked around at "clean" grills around us and they were all greasy and gross. Apparently they dont understand what it means to clean, because every other hibachi weve ever been to put their backs into scraping off the food residue, scrubbing with steel scrubbers in soapy water, and then wiping down with a wet towel and lemon juice. Im nauseous at the fact that I actually ate the food. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN.

I wanted to get dinner out on a Sunday night. It couldnt be a chain. I like an adult beverage with dinner. I didnt want to eat at the 2-3 places in Utah County that fit the bill. Off to Sandy we go. Utah County watch that money leave your area. Its been years since going to an Americanized Teppanyaki place. They tend to be pedestrian food with a corny show. Somehow that seemed OK tonight. We were at a table with regulars and a baby. Every table had a baby. Oh yea, its Sandy. Well spring for dinner, but not someone to watch the baby. It immediately started screaming. Oh boy. Im beginning to remember why its been years since going to this type of place. Fortunately, they stuffed a bottle in the babies mouth, and everything ended up fine. Your mileage may very. We ordered one dish of scallops and one of filet (rare). In the end, the food was well done pedestrian food. The show was fun. Most importantly, the meat was not too overcooked and it was flavorful. The scallops were not overcooked at all and very good. The scallops were best without any of the sauces. The prices were fair, the food good, the show entertaining. I cant ask much more. It beats any similar place in Utah County.

Place is great fun for special occasions. I want to address other commets. Some say pricy... Its average for tempanyaki not sure if they thought they were going to McDonalds. Next the comment of reserve seating. I agree they should seat you when they say. The problem is they need to make sure they have a cook. And so they make people sit together. Its not a regular restaurant. Not sure if people know that. Next is I agree when they have multiple people they do need to make sure theyre getting the right food to the right people. I got a filet mingon and and other person got a steak and I think they have me the wrong one but how am I to tell? Another time two people not with us did not get their steamed rice. For this I gave 4 stars

I have probably been here 10+ times and never have I had an issue. I see some reviews on people not getting right in the door because there are no reservations... Most restaurants are like this now get with the times all you have to do is call ahead and see what the wait time is if any. Their food is perfectly cooked and the chefs are always funny and professional. Most of all this place is kept very clean and organized. Most hibachi joins i have been to are usually pretty unsanitary as there is old food from the cooks before crusted on the edges of the grill. Bonus they always remember who I am and get me the soda I want before I even ask. GO HERE

Went for a family party, informed them of out daughter needing gluten-free. Cooked everything on the same grill, same utensils, just had hers pushed in the corner. Needless to say, before the meal was done she had thrown hers all up. She went and talked to the manager, said if you are gf, tell the waitress, which we did. BUT if you are really allergic, tell the waitress and they will cook it in the back!!!! When we say gf, we dont mean it for fun, and why didnt the waitress say anything, the manager then said sorry, thats it, no discount, nothing....what a way to ruin a family party....no one in the family will be returning there...

I was so disappoint at the service that we got that Saturday night. We were seat at a Table that already had 7 people at. We order extra Veggie, and the cook did not cook that separate from the other so we did not get what we paid for. The cook was so focused on the kids at the table that we were shorted the whole night we were celebrating our wedding anniversary dont know if we will go back. A lot of money and not great service. Disappointed :(
