I love Kawa. It doesnt look great from the outside, but the inside is clean and has a comfortable atmosphere. The food is very good. Better than any other Japanese place in the area. Prices are slightly lower too. Ive never had a bad customer service experience here either. Their lunch deals are really good as well. Most of the time I get a few rolls for myself. The Philly and spicy tuna rolls I got last time were delicious. The ingredients taste very fresh. If you have yet to try Kawa, I highly suggest you do. You will not be disappointed.

The atmosphere and service was great but the sushi was pretty bad. My sushi deluxe had some fish cut rough and rice that was too hard to chew well. Additionally there was too much of this rice used per sushi. Im not a sushi expert but Id certainly had much better. The roll that came with it had the same rice problem. It may be that the sushi chef was an apprentice. Either way, that kind of sushi should not be served to customers until the head chef is confident that all customers will be satisfied with it. Maybe next time...

I work in the neighborhood and was really excited to try this place when it opened. My coworkers and I have lunched here many times now and Kawa never disappoints. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and excellent food. When we get carry out its always well packaged. Lunch specials are a great deal. Freezing weather and blowing snow didnt stop me from making the walk there from work today. It was definitely worth it.

Absolutely excellent. Stopped in on a whim on my lunch hour, ordered a Dragon Roll, California Roll and Beef Negimaki. All were excellent and Id highly recommend the Beef Negimaki. They were super friendly and very quick. And they included both fork and chopsticks with the meal. The decor is stunning, its beautiful art deco with traditional Japanese touches here and there. Id definitely go back.

I order from here at least 3-4 times a month and they have the best Japanese food by far in mke! Miso soup is the most flavorful. Sushi is always fresh and I always get sashimi which is so much cheaper (and fresher) here! Best mochi ice cream too! Everyone is really kind and they know me by name now!

The staff is friendly and if you have allergies/preferences they are very accommodating. The food is so delicious and fresh. Its a small place though, and while Ive never been there during peak hours, I imagine wait times can get high. They offer carry out and dine in.

KAWA is a great addition to the Milwaukee restaurant scene, and a much-needed addition to the north side. Their lunch specials are a great value (2 rolls for $9 WITH miso soup!) and all the sushi Ive tried there has been great.

Delish selection of Japanese food. The wait for a place to seat took forever but the waitress was very nice and the food was so good so it all worked out at the end. Will come back and recommend for a cute get out date.

Kawa is by far my favorite sushi in Milwaukee. The fish is always fresh and the wait staff will inform you of what was brought in that day. Special rolls are all delicious. For the price, you cant beat Kawa.
