Let me describe my experience at Cafe Milo: Two of us walk in, never having been there before and set our things at a table. We were obviously confused as to whether there was a waitress or not. The girl at the counter was staring at us like idiots, not saying a word, just munching on her carrots with a look of hatred for every minute she had to be at work. We eventually walked up to the counter, where she was still munching on her carrots, and asked if there was a waitress or if we should order here. She said order there with a mouthful of carrots and blankly continued to stare at us. Looking over the menu seemed like it took an eternity with the constant crunch crunch crunch from her eating her carrots all the while staring at us. I felt like i was intruding on her lunch or something, or like peter rabbit got into a carrot patch, i dont know. We get our order in after about a bag of carrots, we put money in her tip jar (we both work in the service industry so even terrible service gets some tip). We pay with a credit card and scratch out the tip line. As we turn away i hear "urg NO TIP". I seriously almost lost my mind. The food was great and the other American Indian looking kid was kind and courteous. While we were enjoying our food the girl went and sat with her emo/hipster friend and proceeded to chat away as another customer entered and became confused. She then loudly says "Urg SERIOUSLY!!!" and walks to the counter and eats some more carrots while serving this older gentleman. I couldnt stand it anymore and had to leave. I will never go back! How this girl is even employed at all is beyond me. I hated every minute i was in her presence and she hated every minute i was interrupting her while she WAS AT WORK!!! Never EVER again! Cafe Milo needs to hire better staff.

This was one of the first places we went to after moving to Oost tempted by the 2-for-1 cocktails on Wednesday nights, and it turned out to be the best! The drinks are delicious, the staff friendly and willing to go the extra mile, oh and the food is just amazing! I keep having different dishes every time I go and have yet to be disappointed. If you want to be delighted for a very reasonable price, I cant recommend this place enough!

Nice little cafe in a town void of quality coffee. They get their coffee from Burgies, which is by far the best in the area. Their atmosphere and abundant outlets are great for those trying to get work done, and their coffee and food, while not mind blowing, are probably the second best for coffee shops in Ames (following Stomping grounds for food and Burgies for coffee brews).

Great little cafe. Lots of armchairs or tables to choose from. Ive been here a few times and had their scones, which were good, and recently the iced chai latte has been my drink of choice. Mmm...super yummy. Their hours in the summer are a bit short, as my book club usually picks a coffee shop thats open until 9pm, and they close at 8pm in the summer. So that is a bummer.

We had to go back twice in a row to have their roast beef reuben and tomato basil soup. Unbelievably good and not noisy at all on either occasion. Sat and watched the fireplace, very relaxing! Plenty of parking as the driveway goes way around and down both sides of the block, plenty of parking. Great value, wonderful service! Will be back again and again!

Great coffee shop with a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff, good drinks (both variety and quality), and fantastic sitting space. Very spacious and theres a fireplace! They also show local artists artwork on the walls, so it will change periodically.

Its a great little cafe for West Ames. It has all the the little decorations and touches youd expect from a non-chain store, and plenty of lighting seating for all. Ive heard the coffee is pretty good too, although overpriced as always.

We just went in about 20 minutes ago and they refused to serve us because they were "Closing in 20 minutes, so we wont be serving drinks." Definitely not impressed. Apparently they dont want any revenue from us....

Suggestion: Tea cozies (sweaters) for the teapots might keep the tea from getting cold so fast. My favorite cafe in town! Long hours, ample power and free wifi make this a great place to get work done.

One of my favorite places in Ames, and I dont drink coffee. Smoothies, soups, sandwiches, etc are all wonderful. Lots of space and great wi-fi make this my home away from home!
