Just went there last Friday night for a birthday dinner and was very pleased with the service and the food. The restaurant is nice and quaint, not to big but not to cozy. The waitresses were amazing and very sweet to us and treated my disabled brother like any other bloke, which doesnt always happen in other restaurants. The sushi was delicious. The seaweed salad was huge and we even tried a trio of the mochi ice cream and loved it. We will be returning often as we love sushi but sometimes the more popular places are hard to get as good service. This place is now definitely on our rotation. UPDATE: Ive been here 3 times now & each time with someone new & all 5 people loved this place as much as my brother & I do. Ive now had some of their hibachi menu & it puts some of the expensive hibachi restaurants to shame. They dont cooking in front of you but the prices are less than half of what you would spend at the restaurants where they cook it in front of you. Not that I dont love a good show for a special holiday but sometimes I just want the delicious food and not have to sit through a whole show and this is definitely the place Ill be.

(Sunday 4/23) Not sure what happened tonight. . . Heard a lot about this place so 9 of us decided to try it out and made reservations for 6:15. Since two were late we got seated at 6:30. Around 6:50 we noticed that others who had come in after us were placing their orders. When I spoke to someone they came right out and took our orders. At 7:45 we still had not gotten our food. (There were several other smaller groups--who had came in after us--that had already ate and left.) When I spoke to the manager, she said they were very busy. When I asked why others were getting their food before us she said "they have smaller groups". Then she went on to explain that they serve the smaller groups first. When I asked when we would get our food she said she did not know. There were still smaller groups coming in and our order kept getting bumped back. We decided to leave. It would have been nice to be told this ahead of time so that we could have come in and sat in smaller groups. . .

My husband and I ate lunch today at Tokyo Japanese Cusine on West Street. We had read Denise Neils article about their discounted sushi on Sundays and decided to give it a try. The decor was lovely, especially the shiny floor. For $30, we had three sushi rolls (eel, tempura shrimp and Alaskan), Yakisoba and Teriyaki Chicken. The Teriyaki Chicken was also discounted and was only $7.95. Both entrees came with soup, salad and rice. We enjoyed our lunch and will definitely return when we are in the mood for Japanese food. I recommend you give it a try. If youve never tried sushi before, dont be scared away from the thought that it is raw fish. There are many kinds of sushi without raw fish, such as the ones pictured here. If you need help with the extensive menu, ask and they will help you choose.

I dont expect the decor of a restaurant to blow me away, however, I could tell a lot of effort and money went in to making the restaurant comfortable and unique to the rest of my experiences in Wichita. The server was prompt and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The wasabi tastes like the REAL DEAL. Burns so good. lol The bathroom was very clean, smelled lovely and had modern decor. Bonus, the girls sitting at the table across from mine had a birthday. The waitress brought out to balloon hats and to ice cream sundaes with candles and played a happy birthday song over the speaker system. If you like good sushi and great service visit Tokyo Japanese Cuisine.

This place was great & I cant wait to come back and try more. I had the Sunshine roll &it was very good. My dad had the tempura meal & once I saw it I was Soo jelous! He let me have one of his shrimp & broccoli, they were delish. The tempura sauce was amazing! I usually hate all the sauces that come on the side of dishes, but every sauce that came with our different dishes were all devine. Everyone who works here is very nice and super helpful. My husband who likes just chicken & rice had the teriyaki chicken & loved it. Like I said we cant wait to come back to try more.

Good food, with a much wider selection of Japanese cuisine than most Japanese places. Usually its its hibachi and sushi, but at Tokyo you can get pork cutlets(tonkatsu), eel bowls, great tampura, and a lot more. The sushi options are also quite diverse compared to most places. Service was good, though you will want to really clarify what you want. I once ordered a couple of pieces of tuna sushi and received two tuna rolls. The rolls were great, but not what I wanted.

Im a Wichita local..so you can take this review as coming from an experienced restaurant merchant. Very clean...freindly service...food is very good...I come here regularly for lunch and dinner...I will point out that consistant food quality is among the best. Always the same and fresh. I know when I come here I will not be disapointed. Oh yeah...I also ordered pick up as well and their quality with that is 5 star as well, Love it!!,

The outside of this place looks pretty shabby, but once you get in its very nice and clean. The menu is like a book, so youre sure to find something you like. Staff was pleasant and food was even better. The prices were comparable to other sushi joints in town, however they do have awesome discounts on certain days (you can find more info on their website). Highly recommend the Godzilla roll. Yum!

Hands down some of the best, and freshest sushi I have had anywhere. I live in Miami and I can tell you their sushi chefs rival any big city sushi chef. I also tried their beef teriyaki plate and it was delicious. Very clean, modern interior with great ambiance. I would suggest dining here a thousand times over.

Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. One of the main things required for raw ingredients. The Kani Salad is a great substitution compared to the traditional seaweed salad. Their wasabi and ginger are good quality. Definitely one of my favorite spots to enjoy a nice meal. Especially on their 50% days.

Having lived in Japan for 3 years and traveled all over the world I can say that the Sushi prepared and served at Tokyo is some my favorite ever. Sam has a masterful way of combining texture and flavor to create some of the best Sushi found anywhere. I will be back.

Really great sushi. Definitely in the top 5 in Wichita. The hibachi is above average for certain. The fried rice is not up to hibachi standards. Green tea ice cream was delicious. Oh and the service rocks and the place is super clean and nice inside and out.

We wanted to give this place a try after seeing a couple articles about it. The half price sushi deal is a great value, and at those prices its the best location for sushi in town. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are currently the half price days if you dine in.
