Sorry...Sorry...I used to come her for lunch and/or dinner whenever I was in town for business. People told me to go to Thai Orchid, but I said "No", I like the place by the Hilton. I guess I should have listened to the negative reviews and the recommendations of others. . Ambiance: This place is the same, but really loud. There was only one other group in the restaurant at the time I came in. They were talking in normal voices, but their voices just carried. Should consider headphones next time (Not). Cramp dining room. Feel like you are on top of each other, even though there was only one group in the room. Tables did not seem to be wiped down well. Could see a residue. Food/Service: Bland and flavorless. The Tiger steak tasted like it was boiled and then seared. No flavor or seasoning, other than some chili sauce. The steak was gray! I wanted a steak, this was not the place for that. I asked if I needed to order a full order of fried rice. The hostess said they could do a half order. About 10 minutes later, she comes back and says they do not do half orders...what? Does she not know what they serve and how its served. She did not seem interested in offering me alternatives. I had to ask if my steak came with steamed rice; she said she thought so? I ended up ordering wings. Wing were OK, but nothing special or reminded me of a Thai experience. Just regular fried wings with a sweet chili dipping sauce. I ordered a Sapporo. Nothing special there. While I was still eating, she asked if she bring me the check. I said I was not done. She then asked if she could take my plates...even though I was still eating with more than half my food left. She also asked if she could bring me my check...I was still eating. I ended up ordering another beer, even though she was trying to have me leave. When she brought my check, she took my water...that I was still planning to drink, but I figured I would give something, so that she could let me finish. Overall experience: Seriously disappointed in how this place gone down hill. Food is nothing to rave about, service is poor and not well trained on general restaurant service. Noisy and cramped. Will not return, even though I visit to Vancouver and Portland often.

Ive seen this attractive little place for a few years now and always thought it looked expensive. To be fair it isnt. (Cheaper than Thai Orchid up the street!) Some friends of mine dragged me along and we had a great meal. Since then Ive been back a half dozen times and my meal has always been exemplary. Id go back any time, even if the only thing on the menu was their Panang Curry. Its always a Sophies Choice over what to order. If the only thing Thai you know how to order is Pad Thai youll get a tasty if uninspired meal, but if youre a little bit adventuresome theres plenty to try and I havent had a poor meal yet. The peanut sauce is good, and the curries are all excellent. My greatest disappointment so far has been the Lemongrass Chicken, which was good but didnt taste much of lemongrass to me. I enjoyed the Red Curry, and the Evil Prince Curry is tasty as well. You may see a pattern here. Yeah, I like hot stuff. However theres plenty on the menu for those who dislike too much fire. The Mee Grati Gai I had last night was excellent, and there are plenty of other choices. I havent tried the soups or salads, but I would think theyre worth a shot. My friends Rick and Alison are wine fiends and they report good wines available, which isnt surprising since its got a bar in the back. Unlike many Asian places the bar is not a dive. The whole place has a reputable feel. Theres only a couple of downsides. Ive had excellent service and Ive had mediocre service. Like anywhere I think it depends on who the waitress is. Ive never had terrible service. Parking can be an issue due to the farmers market on weekends but not a huge problem. Its downtown Vancouver. Deal with it. Favorable: Good food. Reasonable price. Decent drinks. Convenient location. Clean. Intimate. Unfavorable: Occasional poor service. Parking. Perhaps a menu with too many choices.

Once we were seated, the server was quite slow to get to us, even though there was only one other family there. As to the food, the tom yum was mediocre. It lacked flavor, as did the tiger cry, which was overcooked/charred. My daughters shrimp plate had only four very small shrimp when we usually get six (and larger ones) at other Thai restaurants. My yum salad was good, though, with great dressing. We were, however, charged $9.00 for the salad roll we ordered and $2.50 for a tiny ramekin that had a few tablespoons in it, at best, of the citrus dressing used on my salad, that I requested to try and flavor the other food. When I asked why we were charged for two salad rolls, she said we got two. I have never considered a salad roll, cut in half, to be two rolls, but OK. I also questioned why I was charged so much for the tiny bit of dressing and she just said the computer automatically does it. I wanted to love it and go back, but decided we wont eat there, again. Thai Terrace and Thai Orchid have consistently good food and dont add ridiculous charges. I would have given these people a second chance on the food if they hadnt charged the $4.50 and $2.50 over. They made a few extra bucks, but it will be much more of a loss for them in the long run. :(

The waitress was a thief. My sister gave me a 100$ bill at the restaurant and I slipped it into my pocket. We ate our meal and no one at the table stood up to use the bathroom or anything. Then when bill time came. I couldnt find the money. I tripled checked every pocket, every menu, the chair, the floor and the table. We were at the end of the room so no one walked behind me but the waitress. I noticed there was a security camera, so I asked the owner if I could view it but the camera didnt work... Or so the owner said... Food was good though, so if you decide to go, just watch your purses and wallets like a hawk.

The food was OK at best. Service was slow especially since we were the only people in there. I had chicken yakisoba my date had Pad Thai and we had egg rolls to start. The prices seemed good till we got the food. 4.50 for 3 finger size egg rolls that is mostly the wrapper with very little veges. I ordered the yakisoba because of the picture on the Internet but when it came to the table it was a small portion with little vegetables. The pad Thai was portioned well and the taste was a little lite according to my date. Would only go back at lunch since its not worth dinner prices.
