Oh my, this place is amazing. Big menu full of classic diner/50s fare, and the prices - wow. A quarter pound burger for under $6. There were so many things on the menu that i wanted to order that we need to return soon. Yes, they have beer and wine on the menu, so you can have an IPA with your fish and chips, or a Merlot with your bacon double cheeseburger (I dont judge.) On our first visit, I had a patty melt and it was one of the best ones Ive ever had. I decided on a side of coleslaw, which wasnt my thing. My daughter liked it, but it wasnt creamy enough for my taste. She ordered the French dip and a side of fried, she said the sandwich was really good, but we agreed the fried lacked salt. While we really liked the good, we did notice something that we had to work around, and might be an issue for others: there are no tables, only booths. For mobility reasons, we both have a hard time getting into and out of booths. Fortunately, the table between the booths is not in a fixed position, so we shoved our table against one side of the booth, then crawled into the other side. Despite that, well definitely be back. If the booth is still an issue for us, we can always get takeout.

The food is very good and I live near the Skyline Rest. I work from home and often meet clients for coffee or lunch. The place needs a major facelift inside and out. I had family visiting from out of town and took them for dinner but its very embarrassing because most comment we get with people I take to Skyline Rest. is that it looks very ratty and old that makes the place look uninviting. With all the business Skyline does you would think they would invest in a new looks to make this place reflect as good as the food is. Thats the only complaint I hear about it, everyone seems to like the food as much as we do. The place gets packed at times and is too small, it would be nice if the owners would update it and expand (they have the land to) the rest. to fit more people in. I havent been bringing people to the rest. lately because it gets embarrassing when they say how ratty it looks, like Im not making a better choice to pick to eat! Please update the rest. so it doesnt look ratty anymore!!! Otherwise the food is very good, there is no lunch specials or happy hour though :( for the budget goers.

I used to frequent the Skyline Restaurant going back 40 years. I had not been in for a few years, and since I had recently heard a friend describe their burgers as sub-par, I decided to give the old Skyliner a try just for old times sake. He was right! The burgers I remember were among the best in town, but todays regular burger was something I could whip up at home with a head of lettuce and a couple pieces of balloon bread from Safeway. I say lettuce because that just about sums up the taste. To begin with, the burger patty was as thin as a computer mousepad and had all the taste and look of a dried shoe tongue. The restaurant would be telling the truth if they had advertised it as a vegetarian burger with a smattering of beef flavor. The reason the burger looked plump and full was because there was enough lettuce on it to crowd a salad bowl. The old taste was gone. The fried were nothing to write home about either. To be fair, there is a larger and more expensive burger on the menu that I did not try, but the regular delicious Skyline burger is a thing of the past.

I have been hearing rave reviews from locals in this area for years. But in the 14 years or so that I have been working in this area off and on (as a contractor) I have never bothered to stop in. I have to say it looks pretty run down from the outside. So that was one big reason I never stopped in. But today I needed a quick lunch and there was nothing else up in this area so I decided to stop by. I was surprised at how quaint and clean the restaurant is inside. Much nicer than I thought it would be, judging by the way it looks outside. Very clean. Very quick service. Great burger. The buns were very fresh, the hamburger was fresh and just off the grill. The rest of the ingredients seemed and tasted very fresh too. It was packed busy at 1:00 p.m. so I guess Im not the only person who liked the place. I would come back again - and bring some others with me.

Worst experience! I cant review the food because we never got service. My daughter and I drove 40 mins to try what is supposed to be great burgers & shakes. It wasnt too busy, only 5 booths(they had half the restaurant closed). We walk in & sit down. Nobody acknowledged us. The waitress walked by our table 3 times, served 2 groups of 4 that walked in way after us. Then a group of 8 walks in. She opens the other side for them and proceeds to take their orders. In the 27 mins we sat there, we never got a hello, no glass of water and she would not make eye contact with my daughter who tried to get service multiple times. After about 32 mins we decided to leave. So after almost 2 hours of time wasted, we finally made it home to eat. Thank god for the Salt & Straw being on our way home! They happily served us and spoke to us and there wasnt even a line.

i love this place. its classic. you cant knock classic. i would drive by this place all the time in high school when going to portland and never thought anyting of it. then one night we decided to try and loved it. it makes you feel like youre eating food from history. getting hamburger and fries? then you gotta have a milk shake. the prices are good and the food is good. the only thing that i would say needs to change is that they dont accept cards. random fact: i recently got in contact with my old neighbor that our family used to be good friends with. through talking with her i found out that she used to be the owner of this place in the 70s. she said that her and her husband were super worried about being asian owners in the 70s but the community supported them. i hope this place never closes down.

Just got back from our experience. My son, husband and I were excited to try this place. We arrived with not even a hello, wanted a window booth but none of the booths were clean. Our waitress was not polite at all, terrible to be exact. The food was okay, not great. I will not be going back ever. The waitress was nice to others around us. Its evident that she might be favorable to whites only. My family works hard and we enjoy going out every now then, I expect excellent customer service and respect. I am paying for it and deserve it. I also left no tip. I wish In-n-out was out here, now thats customer service and worth every penny.

Food was excellent in terms of Diner classics. Had a 1/2 cheeseburger that was delicious. Have to take off 2 stars due to the attitude of the person taking our orders. I almost thought I had offended them just by walking in the door. They may have been having a bad day, we all do every once and a while. Either way the customer service shortcomings of this establishment are certainly made up for via the quantity and quality of the food. Exactly what you would expect from a long established Diner!
