Ive dined at the Loose Kaboose about 3 years ago for breakfast. The food was great and liked how it was decorated along with the electric train running. But my visit today was very poor. Decided to stop in for some Halibut Fish and Chips on my way home. There was a young man working outside when I pulled in. Seen him walk in and out of the restaurant. As i approached the entry door he greated me. Told me to sit anywhere and someone would be with me. He yelled to the other young workers that there was a customer. No one came out. I awkwardly sat at my table while hearing the other workers talking. About 10 minutes went by, and the young man working outside came in and waited on me. His clothes are filthy, and I dont think he even washed his hands before prepping my food. A young teenage girl got my drink. So I couldnt believe that I paid $16 for some rubbery over cooked halibut, a handful of fries, and a little plastic cup of coleslaw. The tarter sauce was more like dipping my fish in mayonnaise. Well... lesson learned. Wont be eating here again.

This place was just so horrible. The clam chowder gave my husband and I very bad stomach aches. Was made poorly and didnt taste good. The place was dirty and the service was horrid. We had been talking about the menu and the server jumps in our conversation and makes a rude comment to us about it. Felt like I had to be REALLY careful with what I say, fearing that they will listen to all of it. If you look at the back of the menu, they are going to start charging for water! How ridiculous is that?

Once seated and placed order became concerned we made poor choice. Saw tables cleared but not wiped off. Watched 1 group of 2 people leave due to no cleaned table and not even greeted . We overheard a table off 4 complain of every item ordered was cold. They did offer to reheat and waved bill. We received our fried cod. The outside breading was crispy but inside was mushy. Chowder tasted like canned Campbell soup. Had to wait 40mi minutes for meal. Over priced.

Very cute little place with a fun atmosphere. The service was a little slow because there were only two people working but despite that the food came out pretty fast. The clam chowder was fantastic! The crab cakes didnt taste as crabby as I usually like but they were well seasoned and still pretty tasty. The prices werent too bad for the quality of the food. Definitely recommend for people who like quirky places with good food.

This is definitely not high class, but a cool little greasy spoon. Just your typical diner food, though since it is on the coast, there are a few more seafood themed items on the menu. The portly burger was HUGE! The fries were seasoned and really crispy. The guy running the place sat and talked with us after we were done eating. He was really friendly and told us a lot about the area and things going on.

I dont think you could find worse crab cakes on the peninsula if you tried. The fish and chicken baskets are tiny and over priced. The staff were so ridiculous that they couldnt even manage to place a single complete set of utensils and napkins on the table. We ended up sharing the one fork they gave us between the five of us. We got some good laughs out of the experience. $70 later... Ouch.

Horrible food. We got food poisoning. The staff was very rude. When i called them to report the food poisoning they were very rude and took my information and told me that the owner would be contacting me. The owner never contacted me and now my calls are not being answered. I will never be going back there and i hope that they dont continue to feed people food that will make them violently ill.

Placed an order to go from the hotel menu. Did not come with all stated on a captains plater and absolutely the worst seafood Ive EVER had! They said they are under new ownership which is why we did not get clams or prawns but the crab cakes were so bad hubby and I could not eat them!!! So greasy ... Waste of $30! If I was at the restraunt I would have sent it back for sure ;(

I dont know if it was the long drive but the breakfast I had was excellent (especially the orange juice for some reason). The employees had a fun and welcoming attitude which was much needed on what was still a long journey to get back home. That combined with the dacor of the restaurant, Ill be sure to stop by the next time Im in the area.

At first the fish from the fish and chips were terrible. We complained and they brought a new batch that were delicious. Maybe they had a new cook or something. Anyway, the fish and chips and fried oysters were good. The chowder and onion rings were great. They have an electric train that runs through the restaurant that the kids love.

The halibut fish portion was a bit small for the price but tasted good! The pizza was pretty terrible (similar to the pizza my high school used to offer in the cafeteria) so stick with the seafood. FYI they charge a fee in order to use CC.

Great food, but expensive I think the bowl of clam chowder was to small for the $6.00 price $2.00 the glass of soda 4 fish stick and fries I almost pay $30.00 for that small amount of food. For an small little town restaurant to expensive.

This August the service and food was just alright. We did find out it was under new management since January. So maybe they are still working a few kinks out. Hopefully next August all will be back to a new normal!

Sounds like its coming under new ownership. Nice guy took our order & served us up. GREAT tasting burgers n fries too. Bonus was a friendly local lady who told me about the town and events going on.
