First thing WE want to say is, WE LOVED OUR WEEKEND STAY AT THE SURFRIDER! Chuck at the front desk was Awesome! He was the first point of contact there. Honestly I cant say enough good things about him but I will say this he is a ASSET to SURFRIDER! When we left from SE Portland I called just to make sure our reservation was good, Chuck answered said YES and not to rush! He went on to informed us of bad weather forecast as well as road conditions. Chuck was really concerned about our safe arrival and we really appreciated it. I was searching around on Expedia saw and booked the very LAST room Surfrider had available. It was a King room #62 with three huge picture windows we watched the storm through. The HUGE comfortable King bed had soft sheets,a down comforter and another comforter on top with plenty of pillows. The entertainment center held a flat screen tv, dvd player (you can also rent dvds at the front desk) a microwave and fridge. Coffee maker on counter with complimentary coffee and tea. The room had a small table with two chairs plus a love seat which we moved around to Our liking and comfort. Open the windows you can hear the waves crashing down, it was fantastic. Our room was clean nicely prepared for quests to stay in. Looked remodeled and Extremely nice n cozy for the reasonable price we paid and Chuck also gave us a discount for being AAA members which I didnt know about til were checking in, and went on to inform us of EVERYTHING Surfrider had to offer like the swimming pool, laundry room and onsite restaurant and bar which gives guest a discount for dinning there. We went to the bar where we were served EXCELLENT clam chowder at ROGER the bartenders advice. ROGER is another ASSET to Surfrider! Roger is friendly, funny courteous and really down to earth and after a tedious, cramped and tense drive to get there, Roger was the catalyst for an amazing weekend! Hopefully youll have the pleasure to meet him as well as we did. LONG STORY SHORT: SURFRIDER RESORT IS AN AMAZINGLY,PEACEFUL,WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY IN DEPOT BAY!

Made a reservation for two nights in September 2017. Room key did not work properly, had to make multiple attempts to gain entry initially. Opened the door to filthy, dirty, and stained carpets. Absolutely nasty. Motel had vacancies likely due to the terrible wind and rain that had set in on Sunday, 9/17; the day of my check in. Called the desk clerk to report the dirty carpet - she explained that all the rooms were in the same condition therefore a room move would not correct the problem. Then I went downstairs to gather up a few more belongings from my car and brought them up to the room, this time the key would not work. I went to the office where a woman and her daughter were trying to check in without reservations (the clerk offered a room and checked them in) and again complained about the filthy carpet.. I asked for the RVP address or phone number and the clerk refused to provide me a name or contact information. The clerk said she did not have this information which is a lie - what employee does not at least know the bosses boss name at the very least? Then the clerk said I would have to speak to the Manager and that she would not be in until Tuesday morning. The clerk was "snarky" and unprofessional, she took on an almost fighting posture, and finally made me a new key after looking at the former key with suspect. Very weird...... I will NEVER stay at this place again. When I initially entered the room the sliding glass door was left unlocked - I soon discovered why, the lock was completely missing and a chunk of wood was left in the room for the guest to shove in the slide rail. Finally, and the tackiest of all - the guest shampoo was used. Apparently the former guest in this room only used half of the little bottle of shampoo so the maid decided to save a few pennies and leave it for the next gues instead of replinshing with a new bottle. Cheap, cheap, cheap......

We spent 3 nights 4 days there.... We are 4 adults, 2 couples. We were lead to believe we would have two bedrooms and it was actually one bedroom with a private bath and one "pass through" bedroom which was awkward. The staff was very responsive to our needs,...... and they were many..... there was 1 suitcase stand for 4 people, each with a suitcase. The blinds were broken in the pass through bedroom, and the curtains did not close all the way. There was no elevator, and I am handicapped, so that was a problem. The stove in the kitchenette was a nightmare, it was hot, the top, door, sides, I have never seen a stove heat up like that, ... we felt we could not use it the rest of the weekend. The refrigerator was barely cold and yet parts of the refrigerator froze the vegetables. The Surfrider Resort is old and outdated and needs a real boost and better furniture in the rooms. On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable and clean, there were plenty of towels, the pool, although a bit worse for wear, was nice and available and the spa was wonderful. The restaurant was great, wonderful dinner, excellent chef, wait staff was there for your every need. The Hotel staff was friendly and did address our concerns with the stove and any needs we had at the time. Beach access was horrible, I could not get to the beach and my husband even had a hard time, we did not visit that beach.

So i stayed at the Surfrider Inn this weekend. First off they say on their website that they are pet friendly. So we packed up the kids and our puppy and headed to the coast. I recently hurt my back so we picked the room with the whirlpool bathtub. When we got there we were informed that we could not have that room AND have our pet stay there. Nothing on their website says this. So obviously not that pet friendly. So we took another room. The room itself is pretty plain, nothing to brag about. The beds are super soft and so are the pillows so that gave for an uncomfortable nights sleep. We decided to use the indoor swimming pool, the water was cold and it is basically in an unheated green house so the air was freezing as well. There is mold on the ceiling and around the edges of the pool and the water itself was not that clean. The other major issue is that the wifi is just junk, it rarely works, with their being little to no cell phone service in the area too Wifi is actually a pretty big deal. This hotel smacks of a place that has had little to no money put into it in a while. It could use a complete overhaul. Will not be staying here again. There are plenty of other hotels with views with better accomodations and amenities.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I arrived and they had me down for the wrong check in date, so say goodbye to my king bed ocean view room. I didn’t even get an apology. The room was okay other than the cleanliness and the sink that was backed up. The television had no hi definition channels, so if you like to watch sports like myself it’s going to look terrible. The wifi installed adware on my phone, and using the internet became unbearable no matter what I did to remedy the problem. I finally factory reset my phone only to have the same thing happen once I connected to the wifi again. Then the same thing started happening to my girlfriend’s phone. I hope installing adware onto phones is worth never getting my business again. The $12.99 I paid for the buffet was about $12.99 too much. The waffles, or should I say one bite of waffle, tasted like wet cardboard, and for some reason all the muffins had a banana flavor to them. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE! Spend a few extra dollars and enjoy yourself.
