The Bistro in Cannon Beach is my all-time favorite restaurant on the Oregon Coast and possibly in the whole world! (and I have travelled ALOT!) I have been here so many many times and have such fond memories. Like the time I was sitting at the bar enjoying their wonderful wine and a delicious bowl of soup, when the mayor of Cannon Beach walked in, sat down next to me, and we had a nice chat! The locals as well as travellers become friendly chatterboxes once they walk into this warm and inviting place. It is the perfect spot to have a romantic dinner for two, a birthday celebration with the family, or just a drink and appetizer on your own. I never go to Cannon Beach without first calling the Bistro to make sure they are open and taking reservations (although I have gone many many times without a reservation and still got a nice table or seat at the bar). Please do yourself a HUGE favor and visit this wonderful restaurant where the atmosphere, food, beverages, and entertainment will NOT disappoint!!

How can these reviews be so positive??? Who in the heck is writing these? Our group ate here over the weekend, and even though most of the staff was pleasant, and it was a cute place, the food is not very good, especially for the outrageous prices that were asked... Our waiter had to be stoned he was so out of it, the drinks were mediocre, and the food was - wow - terrible. Uh, those are not crab cakes, those are egg cakes with the possibilty of crab in them. If you are going to have a restaurant on the Oregon Coast, your seafood should be impeccable , and the shrimp, garnished with capers (????) had an odd flavored glaze that ruined the crab flavor that stuufed the shrimp. The special was duck canneloni, and it tasted like a mediocre shredded beef burrito with tomato sauce. The music and salads were the only redemptioon, as both were fantastic, but for $25 entrees, and everything else a-la-carte, you could do MUCH better almost anywhere in that town...

This place is just okay. The food is decent, but nothing really inventive going on here. Pretty standard fare from about 1978. Have to agree with the reviewer who commented that the crab cakes were more of an egg cake. They are very heavy on the egg and light on the crab. Not terrible-just not anything to get excited about. Pasta dish was factory made pasta, cooked well, but again, nothing especially inventive. Pear, walnut and blue cheese salad reminded me of something that would be served at a convention center meal. I cant believe that a "Portland Foodie" would be excited by this place. I will say that the fish stew, which I saw on my way out, did smell great. But two days before eating here I had two meals in Portland, both of which were three times better.

Very disappointing. First, the positives; Service was decent, new owner was pleasant, approachable and comped one of our dishes that was not good (Catch of the day, Cod). The steamer clams we had for an appetizer were very good. Now the negatives; Way overpriced on both food and drinks. I had the Cod dish that was terrible ($35.00). The rice it was served on was sticky, inedible and drowned in soy sauce. My wife had the rib eye ($33.00) that was just ok. Also tasted soy sauce on her steak. The potato side dish was very sticky and didnt resemble a potato dish at all. Presentation was not there for table fare of that price, not to mention taste. Doubt we will go back given the many options available in Cannon Beach.

I was really impressed with The Bistro. The menu was small, but diverse with something for most preferences. Our group ended up with one of almost everything and the preparations were great across the board. Im knocking half a star off because all the entrees needed more veggies with them; otherwise they were perfect. The salads were a nice mix of standard offerings, but all had unique twists to make them more interesting. The service was excellent and the delivery of food was timed very well. All in all this was a great experience and it was an excellent end to a very enjoyable stay at Cannon Beach.

We would not go back for either drinks or dinner. The bartender was rude, never said hello...poured two different wines, one for my husband and one for me, each the dregs right from the bottle. Im sure bars need to finish he bottle, but so so more discreetly! Then, he engaged in a conversation with others at the bar about what a disgusting choice a wine order is, and how much better the martinis and other cocktails...inappropriate for an employee! We should have said "no thanks" and left...hindsight is always great!

The Bistro topped off our perfect day!! Our last night in Cannon Beach we found this beautiful space. From the walk way up to the door, to the gorgeous art decor. The ambiance was perfect. Great live guitar dinner music made this a special place. The food was outstanding. I stayed with a Pear and Walnut Salad and my new fiancé had the Steak, cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared the Lemon Creme Brûlée..... a perfect end to one of the most memorable and special days we have had!

Delicious little bistro in Cannon Beach, where fine dining is in short supply. We always make a stop here when we stay in CB, and we are always pleased with the quality of the food and the service. A favorite of ours is their Seafood Stew, which is absolutely delicious. The menu is small, but it adds to the quaintness of the place. Wine list is limited but acceptable. Its tiny, so be sure to book a reservation in advance.

The Amavi and Pepper Bridge wine dinner was perfection! The pairing of the Amavi Semillion and the scallop with crab first course revealed Chef Jacks expertise with seafood. The second course of lamb shank paired with Triane continued the depth the Bistro kitchen offers for its patrons delight. Dessert was delightful and soothed our chocolate desire. A perfect dinner in Cannon Beach!

I look forward to dining at The Bistro Restaurant and Bar on annual and semi-annual trips to Cannon Beach. Their preparation of Oysters topped off with soup, salad and wine is a meal to truly savor. They do a good job and they have been doing it for years.

Very warm and personable. Very enjoyable live guitar. My steak had a very good butter sauce. My husband said salmon was excellent. The pear salad was very good. They brought us mint chocolate chip ice cream for our anniversary with mint from the garden.

New owner/chef, great food, great experience. The owner went around and personally thanked everybody who was there on a lazy, cold, Sunday night in the middle of December. Good to see. Will definitely come back the next time were in Cannon Beach!

My parents and I have gone to Cannon Beach nearly ever year for 15 years or more. This place has the best spaghetti with capers and pinenuts...AND YOU BETTER NOT GET RID OF IT EITHER! Love it! Heading back this summer (2014). See you then!

Wonderful intimate atmosphere, personable and caring service, delightful food. The fish stew was delicious, my husband really enjoyed the lamb, and the chocolate fudge rum cake in raspberry sauce was heavenly. Well be back.
