Myself and husband was there last night 2-11-2016 for a friends birthday party. We got there about 7:30 pm and it was about 2 tables and 2 seats at the bar that was available. We sat at the table which has a marble booth style seat on one side that was murdering my backside and a chair on the other side, but if we where only there to eat and leave it probably wouldnt have been so bad. About 20 min after being seated the owner took our drink order and I got my water with no wait, but my hubby got his lemonade a little while after our appetizers came which was about a bit over an hour. I ordered wings and celery, but didnt get the celery and my hubby order soup with spinach and kale, but there was no kale in it. It was tasty, but there were no ranch, blue cheese or ketchup for dipping only a creamy cheese something... For our entrees my hubby wanted the Spicy Chicken Alfredo, but our waitress advised that they were all out after the couple next to us ordered it and I order the Salad with Salmon and they were out of Salmon. About 10 min later the Owner came to the table next to us (I did not know she was an owner because of her appearance, but she was nice. Honestly, I thought she was a ghetto dressing hostess.) and I mentioned the no Salmon and Alfredo to her and she said they have it, but it is not prepped in which they were bringing it down for prepping now, so I said can I get a salad and she said yes. After waiting for a hour plus I never got my salad and I ended up going up to the bar to order drinks in between time do to the long wait at the table. There was no refills on anything not even the water down lemonade. We decided to leave after 10pm and still no salad. I had to catch the Owner to ask for our bill and I mentioned that I never got my salad and she apologized and gave me a hug and offered 10% off our next visit.

The first time I went kitchen was closed. At first glance I thought to myself authentic, how? I heard the owner on wvon speaking highly of her establishment like she should. Armed with that, I went back again and yes food was great menu was not overwhelming but gives you options. Now let me say this often as brown skinned Americans cause who is black lol pay attention, we find a way to not support are people. Ive owned a business here in Chicago for over 20 yrs and as hard as all races are on us we need to think twice about what the truth is. People see us not sticking together and they feed of of it. Lets come together as one and stop talking down and being a critic toward are own people. Even if you personally had a bad experience go back, then go again until you have a better one. It takes time for a business to mature just like a person, Your not the same person you were 5 years ago or 4 months ago. lets stand behind our people not in the short-term or for a period, but for ever thru thick and thin is the only way we can change other races point of view toward us as a race. I cant purchase everything I buy from brown Americans but I can dam sure research and try.

This place is in desperate need of a dose of professionalism. The most unorganized place Ive ever been! Now i do cut some slack bc its a black ownes business and they are fairly new. But they only have one cook, it takes more than an hour for your entrée to get to your table, the owner was there and definitely drunk as hell, and was having a broomfight in the middle of the damn floor! They had a birthday girl rapping about her genetalia as i ate my Alfredo. The food was decent, but the atmosphere was definitely not worth it. Sad seeing something that stereotypical coming out of the black community. Please fix it.

We Decided To Have Dinner Here For The First Time On My Birthday Friday April 29th. We Were Extremely Pleased With All Of Our Food. The Service Was Amazing. Very Hands On With Each And Every Guest. I Say Guest Because The Feel Was Like Being A Guest In Their Home. The Appetizer Wings Were Amazing. For My Meal I Had The Steak Asparagus With Sliced Potatoes Everything Was Seasoned Well. My Steak Was So Tender And Delicious. My First Drink Wasnt To My Liking They Fixed It Immediately I Appreciated That. Im Definitely Gonna Pay This Restaurant Another Visit Very Soon.

Some of the waiting staff maybe a bit unprofessional...the last time I was there my waitress was chewing gum the entire time, shared a bit too much about herself and she talked so much much that I didnt get enough time during the meal to catch up with my girl friend. However, the owner is super sweet and does her best to make everyone feel welcomed. Ive dined here 3times and each time I saw her talk to the customers asking about experience/if they are enjoying their meals.

Truth is the Truth. Soon to be Black Chicago legend. Chicken Alfredo was tasty. Lamb chops was a flavor bomb of deliciousness. Calamari was some of the best Ive ever eaten and I always order it when I am out. Waiter also informed me that all sauces/everything is made in house. Wonder meal definitely enjoyed will be telling all my foodie buddys about this one. Located on an clean block with free parking and patio seating in rear.

Horrible customer service. Was charged for someone elses drink by bartender. When I caught mistake, owner told me to get my money back from the other patron - ?!?. Offered to give me a complimentary appetizer in lieu of refund. Left and took my friends and my money to Normans on 43rd. Have not returned since.

The food was amazing but the staff needs more training to serve customers better. They even asked us to leave early because business was slow and their hours open depends on if they have customers. So for food I would rate them a 5* and service a 3*

Peyton Wilborn,the owner was petty & horrible....accused my party of sneaking in drinks,wouldnt give us to go containers....just REAL ghetto.....I will NEVER patronize & will strongly advice against anyone I know patronizing

It is the best tasting food in the area. Period. Peytyn has done a wonderful job with the place and I hear the drinks are for real. Never a problem here because security is ready. If you havent been yet, get in tune

The food at Truth is amazing. It is by far the best Italian food I have had. We always visit when we come into town monthly. See Peytyn the owner when you get there, she will make you feel right at home.

I must have been at the wrong place. I cant believe ANY of the ratings over one star. This place is not ready to be a restaurant--- maybe takeout only and focus on the club but not a restaurant.
