Just moved to Humboldt from Brooklyn a few months back, and so far this has been the best, most authentic Italian place Ive been to out here. Go somewhere else if you want tons of jarred ragu tomato sauce on a lb of reheated barilla, cause this place doesnt do American Italian - this place understands real Italian food. The pasta was fresh and delicate. The ingredients werent overbearing, but were simple and good quality and deliberate, how Italian cooking should be. Youre gonna get olive oil with your bread, vinaigrette with your salad, and cheese all over your pasta. The place is super understated and quaint, but they were attentive and charming. Wine list was great. Will definitely be a regular.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Lisa on this one. I ordered a dinner salad and the pasta with tomato basil sauce and both were pretty pathetic; the salad was just a small portion of lettuce and a few shredded carrots on top w/a bland dressing of what appeared to be only balsamic vinegar while the pasta was swimming in a puddle of water and covered in a bland "basil" tomato sauce. Also, the "focaccia" bread that was served before the meal was extremely dry, crumbly, and tasted a bit stale. At the very least, an Italian restaurant should be able to make a decent pasta dish. I mean, its really not that hard. I wont be going back.

They should call this place maybe a local organic café, there is nothing in this place that resembles Italian food! There are no choices of appetizers and entrées; and if you finally pick something basically out of nothing they are pretty bad. They cant even make a decent salad! I have ordered spaghetti carbonara and I got a Chinese chow mein; Absolutely terrible, terrible, experience...I cant believe they call this place La Trattoria! Wish they know the real meaning of this name and what trattoria should represent!

We had a lovely experience here for dinner. I wouldnt say it was super authentic, but the dishes celebrate the flavors of real food, using high quality ingredients. Most of the pastas are handmade and the one we tried was excellent. The salad was fantastic. We had the local Winnett chardonnay which was awesome. My complaint is they didnt seem to understand the concept of a spaghetti carbonara, but hey, that sauce is not easy to achieve. :)

Although this place has obviously gone through the effort to have local organic produce, the plates lack flavor and I left with an empty pocket and an empty stomach. I literally couldnt eat the arugula gnocchi. It was flavorless and bitter and it made me somewhat sick because it was so gross. The other two plates we had were also flavorless including a brothy chicken stew that was poured over pasta. Not one of us could eat our food.

Food is authentic and fresh. Its also mostly locally sourced. Service is perfect! I love this place. Homemade pasta is undeniable. And the panna cotta is to die for, if its on the menu.
