I am shocked to see all the great reviews on this place because I have been wanting to stop there for about 2 years or more and when I finally did it was not the great reviews it has. I did stop by one morning not knowing what time they opened, they were full opened up and the doors were unlocked but I was 15 minutes too early. I get that but the person working was quite rude, like I should know what hours they are open despite the doors being opened. Anyway, on a recent Saturday my husband and I purchased a new vehicle and on our way to grocery shop we stopped at Sparks. I mention this because we were both on a high over the new vehicle we got and we were starving. The food we had was awful. There was nothing great with the side salad or the jo-jos we had. And the sandwich was awful. The bread was dry ( a HUGE issue with me) and basically of no good quality. The smokey flavor of the chicken in the sandwich reeked of fake flavoring so bad it was unappealing. So it was a mediocre at the best sandwich and the sides were disgusting. I honestly do not see why anyone would praise this place unless they are so low class they have no clue on decent food, even at a sandwich place. Maybe their pizzas are better and some day when I want to waste money and time I might stop and try one. In the mean time it will be a long time before we go back. I am so disappointed as I have been trying to get there and then to get the quality of food we did was unacceptable. My husband had no problem with the dry bread (fresh bread is not an issue with him) but found the chicken flavor off and the sides a disappointment.

I was in awe tonight as earlier in the day I called and was told Sparks Deli would be closing at 8. I get off work at 6 go and pick up my family and we head south from des. Moines and get there at 7. As we go in the girl working says shut down the oven. In return this sends my wife in tears because we drove down 45 mins to get there only to be told because they werent busy they shut down the oven. It wasnt even 2 mins after we walked in that they called for the ovens to be shut down. I know any owner of an establishment would honor people who walk in an hour before close to accept their business and money. If I worked for your guys establishment that Id try and get that extra income for you and your family and been happy to give the customers satisfaction of patronage because I know what it takes to win customers as I do in my job daily. Your servers failed that service tonight. We didnt drive just for pizza for 45 mins. An appetizer and drinks were gonna be ordered. That lost money for you guys and a very nice tip for the servers as well. Ive supported sparks deli for 3 years but timing and servers have been an issue with us. I get it you guys sponser and support sports in Puyallup as well as the city itself and have closed functions. But to have servers break my wifes heart and to hear my 2 1/2 year old say no pizza is disheartening. You need to get help that you had 3 years ago. After driving 45 mins there we spent an additional 45 mins driving back home to our #2 favorite pizza place. Thumbs down to your servers tonight

I went here last year because I had a Groupon for this place, which is a great way to try a place out. I found the food to be severely overpriced for what it was (typical sandwiches and pizza), and its not as if the portions were very large to justify the price either (not that I want large portions, but it would have justified it to a degree). I told myself it was worth it at half price for a Groupon deal. So, I get a Groupon again this year when I see them. I go there with my daughter sometime in mid July on a weeknight when I had to work late and wasnt in the mood for cooking. I walk in, sit down, and the staff informed me there was some lacrosse gathering going on and the restaurant was closed for the day. What, the ENTIRE restaurant? How about seating them outdoors and letting me and my daughter eat? Ok, I leave. As sometimes happens I forget I have a Groupon and the expiration day comes along. Unfortunately the fair is going on so I have to brave the traffic to get there thinking theyll have the parking lot cleared for customers only. After a lot of time and gas wasted in fair traffic I get there only to see the parking lot is blocked off and the restaurant is closed because of a birthday party. WHAT?! TWICE?! What kind of place closes down on the LAST day theyll accept their Groupon. What a joke of a restaurant.. I really dont know how they stay in business.

I see why you make people pay first, so hopefully the tip will be paid with the check. Your servers are horrible. I am sure some read this, you are horrible. My wife and I brought our 18 month old daughter with us for lunch. We ordered at the counter and sat down on the patio. It was after 2:00pm so the restaurant was dead, just us and two other couples. 30 minutes later our daughters mac and cheese was brought out by itself. Setting aside the fact that it takes over 30 minutes to fill two sandwich orders and a mac and cheese, but bringing the childs food by itself is just plain stupid. Now my daughter will be done eating and we will have to try and eat and entertain her at the same time because your horrible staff cant be bothered to prepare and serve food in a timely manner.

I found a new favorite! I had a fantastic fire-roasted veggie sandwich and side of coleslaw, so incredibly yummy! . Diane tried the meatball sandwich and the pasta salad. The price was very reasonable and service was quick and friendly. I cant wait to try more of the items on the menu. As we were eating I noticed someones nachos as they were being delivered and it looked so appetizing, I wanted to try them, but my sandwich was filling so I will try it another time.

This is a neat little corner deli and bar with a great atmosphere. This was my first visit and the staff was helpful and friendly. I will say that for a bar the drink selections were limited. My sandwich was really good and I liked that it was roasted in their brick oven. My guests sandwich was not made correctly however they were quick to make it right. This place was a little pricier that I was expecting. $26 for 2 sandwiches w/ sides and one soda.

Get yourself in here and grab one of the amazing sandwiches!! Great spot on a sunny day, and enjoy an ice cold beer on the open patio and chow down on a great sandwich! One of the biggest downsides to the place, the wait staff wont assist you after you ordered at the counter, but if you already know that ahead of time you wont have any issues. Would love some more tvs for sports events and I could see this being a good spot to watch some games.
