So we went there on Friday night because of good reviews, but had big disappointment unfortunately. So first a good part. I like a cozy and welcoming environment. Nice interior. Small good looking place... but. The customer service awful. So I ordered lamb chunks with couscous. And the person I was with ordered burger. We waited the whole hour to have our meal ready! An hour! That was just awful. Seriously. Never waited that so long. And during our wait no one ever apologize__ So the meal... Small two pieces and mostly bones, but meat was good to the taste. Not the best but was ok. But the couscous was not good at all. I love usually couscous but not here. Was with tomatoes all over too sour, did not tasted good at all. I tried once and thats it, could eat more. During our dinner time the gaiters said never even stop by to ask if we liked our meal or if we need anything at all. The person who ordered burger needed a ketchup but has to wait for very long time until she showed up near us and we had to wave her to give us a ketchup. Now, when I told that did not like my meal, she did not even apologies or even mad an attempt to do so.. just very rude, "oh ok..and?" Did not ask if I need a replacements. Nothing. So I did ask my self, the bring it later but did charged us additionally. No customer service at all. Rude and have not even knowing what is customer service is. Wow. The prices are high. I wasnt satisfied with a food or customer service. Do not want to go back, no, no!

First, let me say that I gave Pimienta 5 stars not just because of its cuisine, but because of its location. Federal Way has many restaurants, almost all serving pre-prepared, previously frozen entrees. Pimienta serves fresh entrees with a true Bistro look and attitude. Ask to talk to a chef, (Which I always do if I like his work) and youll feel the passion that these folks put into their food. The entrance to the parking lot can be difficult to navigate if you are unfamiliar with the area. The lot is accessed via a filling station entrance off of Hoyt Rd. Your diligence will be rewarded, however. When compared to other cosmopolitan areas, Seattle and the surrounding towns are just coming into their own as far as a food identity, so I tend to grade them on a local scale instead of internationally. You would at the very least have to travel to Primos in Tacoma or Ettas in Seattle to get the same fresh farm-to-table taste and feel that Pimienta provides for those of us living in the South King Co area. I tend to eat rather late in the day, so I get treated pretty well when the crowds thin out a bit. Generous drinks, personable service, and some fairly artistic approaches to the menu. I have had the pork chops and the duck served over a bed of greens, shiitake mushrooms and pureed cauliflower. Both dishes are excellent and I plan on taking a special friend there tonight. Definitely give this place a try.

Never been there so thought week give it a try after reading all great reviews. I really was hoping I would love the place but I dont have the same experience. First off the positive. The place looks unique and service was swift. We others the grilled lamb with risotto, lobster Mac & cheese and chicken with apricot balsamic drizzle. The food came looking stunning. Here its the bad part. They are under seasoned. I dont mean just personal salt level preference but the flavors arent there. Lamb was just bland. Risotto a little over and again lack flavor. Chicken though moist its also missed the bar. I think a bit more drizzle would help. Didnt taste the apricot though. The lobster Mac & cheese was disappointing. The wine cheese sauce made it less cheesy. At $11 a pop as side dish, its have a few small pieces of lobster and liquidity sauce. All that without any drinks puts us over $60 before tips. Definitely had better in that price range.

LOVE this place...the Calamari is amaaaazing. I order it every single time Im there. Better food than restaurants that charge twice the price. Perfect use of spices, chilies, and pepper, of course...thus the name...Pimienta. Great S-King County restaurant - and Im so very happy the owner came all the way from Mexico to be here. She is wonderful and runs a great restaurant. I found it by "accident" while buying gas at the station across the parking lot because the mouth-watering smells wafting across the concrete. One of the singe best "accidental finds" Ive ever made. I now take clients there and my hubby and I celebrated our 20th anniversary there, too. Not to big or noisy, and the atmosphere is quaint, unique and fun.

First of all - $$$$ - but definately worth it. The setting is very nice, the service was great and the food was amazing! It was a little pricy for me, plus Im a simple guy, so I settled for the burger and fries. The burger was a little more done than I ordered but not over done, was very tasty and the truffel fries, even though I dont care for shoe string size, were amazing. We are new to the area and this place is definitely a local favorite for that once in a while special treat. It was kind of odd that the decor included paintings on the walls that were for sale. I had bites from the other dishes and I was pleasantly surprised. Check them out!

If you live in Federal Way and havent been here, you have done yourself a disservice. In fact, if you live 30 minutes away, and havent been here you have precluded yourself from this cuisine, which includes everywhere between Seattle and Gig Harbor-ish (definitely Tacoma). We consider ourselves foodies and when you can AMAZE two people at the same time with not only the drinks, appetizers, and meals is a feat not before accomplished, at least with us. I know well be back, and not alone. This will be a place a place we share with many, which is saying alot.

Just ate there, we were the only people in the place and now I know why. The restaurant was dirty, cobwebs hanging off the lighting above us. Took almost 40 minutes to order Kalimari, a Panini (Which was not a panini but safeway salmon served on a slice of bread [pa·ni·ni pəˈnēnē/ - noun - a sandwich made with Italian bread, usually toasted.)] and lobster mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was about the same serving size as Kraft EZ Mac and contained 4 tiny bits of lobster. End price of lunch (only water) $38. Not joking even a little.

A group of coworkers and I went here after work last night and we were all blown away. Its a good sign when you want to eat everything on the menu. For the record, I had the seafood with pearl couscous and the mexican chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and caramel peanut butter sauce for dessert. I had beer, but everyone else had great looking cocktails from the bar. An easy 5-star review from me!

Went on New Years Eve. They only had a New Years Menu available, with no prices listed. The service was fine and the food was decent but it wasnt near worth what I paid. I would have much rather saved my $200 I spent (two meals and two drinks) and gone somewhere nicer. The atmosphere wasnt great and it was very cold in there. Save your money and go elsewhere.
