Finally made it here after years of hype and it just didnt live up to expectation. Service: 4-stars. Our initial server was great and spent time explaining the "farm to table" concept and walking us through the menu. She made some recommendations for us as well. Throughout the meal, though, we had barely finished one dish before another came out. This wasnt done in the "share a few things at a time" way, they were definitely served serially, but without any time to digest in between. Yellowtail jack confit with brussels sprouts, anchovy, and endive: 4-stars. The yellowtail was well prepared and tender served on top of shaved brussels and endive. I didnt get much anchovy, but the citrusy dressing was a nice touch. This wasnt the most amazing dish Ive ever had, but it was a nice, light start to the meal. Wood-oven-baked fregola sarda and slow-cooked duck with tomato, fava greens, and creme fraiche: 3-stars. The dish was almost soupy and needed bread to sop up the puddles left on our plates. The duck was tender and the creme fraiche added some creaminess to an otherwise acidic dish, but as a whole I found the dish bland and lacking in any excitement. Maitake mushrooms and broccoli di ciccio with red lentils, a fried egg, and fresh turmeric yogurt: 5-stars. This dish was great, the mushrooms were meaty, the broccoli was just the right balance of cooked and crunchy, the creamy yogurt sauce added a nice spice to the dish, and the mashed red lentils gave some softer texture. Im an easy sell on eggs and this one was such a great touch. My only complaint was it could have used more mushrooms! I also had the Bellamy Scotch Sour: Almost like a Pisco Sour but with scotch. It was a frothy winter drink which made me feel nice and warm inside. Overall, the food was good but not outstanding, and at the price we paid, Im not running back here.

Delicious cocktails and cool space. The server seemed annoyed or off put at having to serve our table and neither smiled nor made eye contact the entire meal. We had cocktails (their bartender took extreme care on each drink and was an absolute artist) and a bottle of wine. We were not especially impressed with anything from the menu. Bread and butter were good. Ciccioli toast was awful. Somewhat slimy and very similar to tuna on toast(?). Halibut crudo was decent Charcuterie plate was uninspiring and the pate was oddly dry Pickled carrots were fine (nothing special) At this point decided it wasnt worth ordering entrees due to the quality of food and speed of service (wed given ourselves 2 hours to curtain at Hamilton) so we we moved to beignets and took care of the check. Would not return - while the space and drinks are great, the service we received was excruciating and awful. Expected more.

Bar Agricole is great if youre in your 40s and have a LOT of expendable income. But for a fun scene and great drinks, there are other places closer to public transportation and with as delicious (and definitely more affordable) cuisine. I had an incredible drink there that was simply wonderful - but in SF you can get incredible drinks at other places, in particular Beretta, that are more relaxing, have better service and provide a more genial atmosphere to dine in. I saw a chicken for two at Bar Agricole that literally just looked like a simple chicken roast and while no doubt it was cooked perfectly, I had trouble convincing myself that it was worth the $75 that it was listed. The menu as a whole, when I went, was ill conceived as well and I remember thinking... hmm, none of this really goes together. Its definitely a great place to go for a drink though!

I first came here soon after it opened and loved it. I didnt care for their take on "family style" because their interpretation is that food comes out whenever its ready. Despite the "family style" approach, the food was amazing and the cocktails were great. They source all of their spirits from the U.S. and use organic spirits (not that its that big of a deal for me). So I was dying to come back but it had been years before finding an opportunity. I was so disappointed! The menu items were way too out there. I dont experimenting, but when sea urchin is the only item that I recognize on the menu, they need to rethink the options. Overall, the quirky approach left us unsatisfied and hungry. Too many other great spots to eat at in the city - will not return.

I live very nearby, so have been to Bar Agricole on a number of occasions. The food is seasonal, hearty, very unique, and utterly inspired. The cocktails are constantly changing and I have never been disappointed with a single one. Every single drink is totally unique and always delicious. The service is not instant, but this is clearly because they put time and effort into crafting everything that is brought to the table. The atmosphere is a perfect mix of cozy, modern, and warm. This place has consistently treated me to some of my best dining experiences- I have been to Gary Danko, Baume, Manresa, etc... most of the Michelin-blessed establishments in the Bay Area, and I would, without a doubt, choose Bar Agricole for dinner over any of these.

I think Im echoing others when I say that the service at Bar Agricole started off nicely but shortly came to a grinding halt. A half hour after arriving, our server completely disappeared and the rest of the wait staff couldnt be bothered with us. We had to ask for our bill and ask again that they process our payment. The food was tasty, if far too salty. On the bright side, the cocktails were terrific. I treated myself to two delicious gin and tonics as well as the house drink Monkeys Gland. All were wonderful. Its a shame that the food and service werent on par with the beverages. In short: go for the drinks, stay for the ambiance, and dont expect the staff to be particularly responsive.

In San Francisco, the competition between restaurants is a steep grade. There are many restaurants that dont make it because they simply cant get the return customers. Because of this it is important for every restaurant in the city to be unique, have exceptional service (remembering your name if a repeat customer) and offer a tasty variety of foods from a flashy and simple menu. Bar Agricole provides its customers with a great atmosphere, private outdoor seating area for beautiful bay area days, and a special cocktail for anytime of the day. With a farm to table feel, the simple dishes offered for brunch leave your taste buds satisfied without that OMG I ate too much feeling. A+

The moment you approach the door you feel like youve arrived at the right place.Theres a cinematic quality to the space, one where director Thad Voglers movie plays night after night. The warmth of the lighting setting the stage for a meeting of the minds or just a great place to pop in and enjoy one of the best bars in the city. The most difficult decision is in what cocktail to order. You can enjoy the LEED architecture, simple yet well thought out and a glass chandelier that will have you in contemplation while waiting for the delicious food. This is my new place to hang out when I need a set that can really satisfy all of my senses. (msp)

Head here for happy hour, where youll enjoy a $6 signature cocktail and $2 oysters. I sat at the bar since I was on my way to an event. If I had more time, Id sit out on the patio, a concrete sanctuary shielding diners from the din of SoMa traffic and panhandlers. Inside the restaurant youll find vaulted ceilings with a grand glass sculpture and a stark color palette. I was a bit amused by the denim cloth napkins, which helped break the formality the space evoked. The apricot rum cocktail I had was rather tasty, not overly sweet, and the local oysters were great. Ill definitely come back for a full meal!
