I see many good reviews from Americans. But this place is definitely a no-go if you are an Indian. Basically we (me and 5 other friends) went as it had good reviews. But it was really a horrible experience. Well I gave 1 star because the food and service over here was horrible. Cooking was fundamentally wrong because I don’t think it is just a process for mixing up ingredients. You also have to boil it. But none of the food served was hot. I am damn sure a couple of dishes were just microwaved (Especially the rice). It was fundamentally wrong also because salt was not added in the right proportion. We had to ask for salt and sit there adding salt multiple times in each of our dish. May be it was a Bring Your Own Salt day and we dint know that! Well you might also argue it is a Indo-American cuisine. Yes, I agree. But I haven’t gone around other restaurants asking for salt. None of the other 5 people with me have done it either. It was not just us! The same couple in the table adjacent to ours, asked for salt. They dint seem Indian either. It is fundamental because, you should eat at American Tandoor to realize how important salt is as a part of your food. The tandoori chicken was so bad. Excuse me! Wasn’t the name of the restaurant “American Tandoor”? I thought it was your signature dish. The chicken was old, did not have proper masala and neither was it served hot. I had been to other Indo-American cuisine where the curry taste is a bit subtle and not predominant but still tastes good. There is a good mix and a right proportion you should have known to balance. Atleast we finished the chicken. The service was bad because if you microwave a food item, you got to get it to the table within 2 minutes. If you are bringing it after 5 minutes, it will already be cold. Consider educating your waiters with this "Tips and cheap tricks". If there are 6 people dining and all the glasses are empty, you got to serve water. Was the expectation that I should keep it on my head for you to notice? It was a good 5 minutes that the entire table was sitting without water. Moreover, you can’t deny serving us the only thing that tastes normal – “Water”. If your food does not have salt, you at least have to get a bigger size salt shaker. Not a shaker that is of miniscule size than a micro mini flash drive. We had to ask for salt thrice because 1. Your food did not have salt 2. The quantity in the salt shaker was not sufficient for 6 people 3. Neither was it sufficient to be added to the 9 dishes we ordered. So do the math! 4. The shaker size was so small 5. The service was so bad that they dint bring it after asking for it the second time 6. Hence the third time. Why the third time? Refer to point number 1 and point number 5. Cinnamon was used irrelevantly. Who the hell uses cinnamon in mango lassi and goat curry. I can give a list of items not to eat here but honestly there was nothing I could suggest you to try. Everything was just eatable/puke’able. Goodbye "Neither American not so Tandoor" !!

I frequently come to American Tandoor because.... NAAN!! They have the best Naan ever! Add to that the spiced butters that you can get with the bread and you are talking pure Nirvana. So based on that alone, I have been to this restaurant countless times. I have tried many things on the menu, and have enjoyed most of them. However I wanted to specifically share the details of my visit on Friday, June 23, 2017. My daughter and I visited American Tandoor and ordered our Naan first thing, as usual. Each time we visit we try something new. So this time, we tried the samosas and the lettuce wraps. Weve had the samosa before, but for some reason they were oddly sweet this time. The lettuce wraps were not to our liking, at all. So we requested a manager to send the items back. When the manager, Paris, came to the table we talked at length about the different things and dishes we have tried and she offered to allow us to try her favorite dish the Fried Kale Pakora. It was delicious! Until, my daughter suddenly looked looked up and asked, if there was fruit in the dish. Paris responded that there was fresh pear in the dish, which is a major problem because my daughter is allergic to pears. Paris personally took me to a small market, hidden in the bowels of the mall, where I was able to get a bottle of childrens Benadryl, get it back to my daughter, and stop the reaction. By the time we got back, her face had already started to swell and she was wheezing, so I am super thankful for Paris quick response and ownership of the situation. Based on this experience alone, American Tandoor will continue to be one of my go to spots, because I know that they care about their customers first. I can always find a dish I like, but even if I dont, I know that we are still their number one priority. Thank you American Tandoor and Paris for being awesome! As for the food: Ribeye - very good Bahl Puri - very good Satis Wings - good Samosas - good Lettuce wraps - not good Fried Kale Pakora - GREAT Naan - GREAT Chicken Tikka - fair (very tomato-y)

Worst service on earth I absolutely hate this place. Every time I get suckered in to going to American Tandoor, they set a new low for service. My first experience involved being seated outside on a warm day only to wait 30 minutes for a small glass of warm water. My second the waitress kept getting the order wrong and had to come back and ask us 3 times. My third and FINAL experience... Went in during lunch to a mostly EMPTY restaurant, ordered the Veggie Burger and my friend ordered a beer, naan, and an entree. 20 minutes go by, and my waitress comes back to inform me that they are out of buns and hence cannot make the Veggie burger (she didnt have a menu with her for me to review my options, so I said "fine Ill just get the shrimp curry (that cost $7 more)". Another 10 minutes go by before we have to ask her about the beer that was ordered 30 minutes prior that she admittedly forgot. Eventually the food comes out and I have my doubts that anyone would be able to tell it apart from a frozen curry meal purchased from the grocery store for $4. We go to settle our checks, and by some sort of incompetence magic, she was able to run the cards backwards despite them being placed in sleeves with the bills they went to, so I ended up paying an additional $10 for my friends beer just so we could get out in time to make a meeting. The majority of the time between serving and when she should have been bringing us drinks, she was socializing with her friends at the front. It is no wonder why the restaurant was empty - they could barely handle the small handful of people, that if that place has somehow filled up, I cant imagine ever seeing my food. If I had been alone, I would have cleared out long before anything arrived. Food is OK / average but way overpriced. 100% unacceptable service - never again.
