For those of you who enjoy mediocre curry, which involves largely the same base sauce (unless saag forces a more original hand) redoctored at will, this is the place to go. For others who may prefer the hand of integrity that crafts a la carte dishes (which OCCASIONALLY you will find here, but only in about one visit out of ten) then I suggest looking in another place. Also, the buffet is far from consistent in such things as its salads (likely to offer old ingredients) and those brought to table also are FAR FROM always given the treatment that Milan now only seems to command by way of the more empty type of accolades offered by in-house connections, or non food appreciators. For those coming from out of town, I suggest that you may be barely satisfied, but prepare yourself to be underwhelmed as only local die-hards that may not have experienced a better caliber of cuisine could be consistently impressed with the rather less than satisfying output that is alas now Milans only consistent offering. Waitstaff can be either helpful or smug depending on (their) day.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Milan Indian Cuisine and their staff. I come here very often for both lunch and dinner hours and their food is simply the best in Charlottesville. They prepare everything daily and use natural ingredients, which I personally appreciate. During lunch hours, they have great options for their buffet (soup, entree, and dessert items). For dinner, the portions are plenty! I highly recommend their chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. Both are delicious and flavorful. (Also, everything heats up impressively well as a meal for later!) In addition, I have also had the pleasure of experiencing them as a catering service since I photograph weddings. My clients who hired them for several events said they had a great experience. Both had family traveling to Virginia from India for their events and the food was thoroughly enjoyed by all. If you are looking for a place for fantastic Indian eats in Charlottesville, Milan Indian Cuisine is the place to go!

Food was average. Buffet was very small and cramped hard to move around without bumping into someone eles at the buffet. Overall I would not return its just too average. No sweet tea. Curry was a little watered down for my taste not creamy and delicious. 7/20/13 update Went back on my second business trip to cville and same issues. Food just hardly had any taste. Buffet is very small like 3 main types of food to choose from just not enough to really call it a buffet. Coconut mouse left a greasy residue on the roof of my mouth like it was made from oil not cream. Similar with the currys no yogurt just water and oil.

I love Milan! The servers are so professional and thoughtful. We usually get food takeout and wait at the bar where the bartenders bring us pampadans (sp??) and some dips, and we have a drink while we wait. The food is always good, and the prices are reasonable for what you get. My husband likes it really hot, so Indian Hot is what he orders, and hes happy with that. Our daughter is sensitive to spicy food, so she gets mild.

I love Indian cuisine, and Milan gives the best overall. (Ill admit, Royal Indian is a close second on some entrees.) It was recommended to me by someone from India as "closest to authentic" in our area. As a vegetarian, I particularly appreciate the variety of non-meat options. For once, veggies arent just "leftovers thrown to the side"! Yay! Also, the options of mild-medium-native spicing? Allow you to be adventurous (or not)!

Friendly staff, white table cover and cloth napkin service. Food well prepared and delicious. Food served at 1-5 level of spicy heat. I chose 3 and it was way too high for me (I could not finish meal too hot) . I suggest first timers try no more than 1. I have eaten Indian cuisine many times but never experienced this level of heat. Desserts were unique and elegantly served as well as richly delicious.

This place is always on point. They offer an exceptionally affordable lunch buffet that gives you the chance to try dishes you may be more intimidated about on the dinner menu. When it comes to dinner, its quite a wonderful restaurant with an extensive menu with something for everybody. Ive tried the other restaurants in town and around the area and nothing compares.

Excellent food! My husband and I were looking for some great Indian food during a weekend away and were delighted to have found Milan. I dont ever write reviews but this place was delicious. Lots of great veggie and meat options, we were literally scraping our bowls. Service was a little slow, atmosphere was pleasant. Wed definitely go back next time were in town.

Like so many Indian eats Milan was bland and targeted to the average .vs the discriminating palate! This was another forgettable dinner .vs a memorable moment! The staff were very attentive and only a few spots and smears were on the utensils. I feel the vegetarian thali would have been better by spice only as all tasted well but lacking definition!

DELICIOUS food that rivals the top Indian restaurant in Washington, DC at a reasonable price!! EXCELLENT! Great value. Fresh ingredients. They accommodated my wheat allergy and spiced up the flavor to my taste. I wish Id found this place sooner than on the day my son graduated from UVA; if I had, Id have eaten here every time we visited UVA.

Been going here for years, super great food, super great service. Spiced and cooked just right. Affordable prices throughout the year. Brought my toothless grandparents here once and they worked really well with us to find soft foods. I wish they had more variety for toothless people though. This goes to most all restaurants.

I didnt have the best experience here recently. I had ordered a Chicken Tikka and the chicken was not properly cooked and I was barely able to finish eating my dish. When I told my waiter about the food, he seemed very passive aggressive and was not kind towards me for the rest of the night. Will not be coming back here!!

Absolutely fantastic! Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavors are to die for (heaven was mentioned several times). The dinner for two was an amazing steal for all of the delicious food we received; we ate to our hearts content, and still have enough for another two meals! We could not be happier (or more stuffed)!

I love it here! Ive been twice and both times were amazing. Everything is very delicious. One entree is made to feed two, as youre supposed to get them to share around the table. The waiters are also friendly and 3 different ones checked on us multiple times throughout the night. I will come here in the future!

We were paying through on Christmas and thus was the only place we found open near our hotel so we stumbled on. Wow! So excellent! We tried 3 different items and all were outstanding. Great service despite the guys all had to work on Christmas. Thanks for being open and amazing!

This restaurant used to serve the best Indian food. Unfortunately, it does not anymore. The food is hella sour and hella bitter. The lighting is extremely dim and reminds me of hell. Stay away from this restaurant. Even The taco bell across the street offers better Indian food!
