I was excited to eat here tonight, but was not satisfied. I usually dont write reviews, but I felt I should write one tonight. When we arrived ( 840 pm), we sat down and our waiter barely gave us a chance to look at the menu. He came to take our order and I informed him that we had to look at the menu. He came over again about two minutes later and I asked him if he could give us 5 more minutes. He started getting annoyed and told us we had to hurry up and order because if there were not alot of customers they wanted to close at 930. There were other customers there that were still seated and enjoying their meals so I told him, "I just need 5 minutes." He walked away with an attitude mumbling under his breath. I decided to go to another Indian restaurant that was closing at 10 oclock not far from this one. This restaurant wasnt crowded at all they greeted us nicely and they didnt rush us. The food here is probably really good, but service to me should be good also. Maybe Ill give them another try when Im in the area again but Im not sure. If they wanted to close early they should have told me when I walked through the door. Im wondering if it was just the waiter who wanted to leave early for the night!

Theres no negative star so Im forced to select 1 star.. Had the worst experience in my entire life especially in my 12+ years life in US - as you go to a restaurent and you wait for your turn. Finally one waiter invites you to get you seated based on the number of seats you need. Once youre settled, another waiter come and kick you out, saying some other group need the seats... just enough for the family to get embarresed infront of other patrons. If youre ready to get embarrassed like that, this is the best place. It all started today evening as my wife saying "lets try Indian". Though kids were so hesitant, as they eat Indian dishes everyday.. Finally somehow we managed to convince the kids and went there. Once we reached there and was so happy to see few empty tables as we all were hungry and tired. Then all these dramas happens.. I tried to convince the second waiter that were invited by another guy to sit here, but his voice and body language was too harsh. May be they dont need kind of a regular customers like me, as we used to go there for lunch/takeouts and do caterings. Food might be good, but worst service....

I have dined at this place about 5 times and I come here only for the food. This time there were four(4) of us and the table was small to seat us but made it to seat 4. When I asked to join tables the server argued that its not for 4 its for 8. Spilled water all over the table while pouring water in the glasses, throws the menu on the table and leaves. One of us has to get up and ask the sever to come and take the order. Barely 4 tables were occupied and the service was slower than a turtle. The servers are always hurdled in a corner, not sure what they are strategizing. When you request them to come over they look the other way or look at you and never come over. No napkins or forks & knives on the table. The food comes one dish at a time. Now comes the food where the chutneys(sauces) are inconsistent every single time. The heat/spice levels are different each time I have dined here. The food is usually greasy and salt levels are higher than what you would like to have. Overall if you just go here for the food, its fine but the service needs an overhaul. After eating you just want to get out of there!

There are a number of Indian Restaurants around but this one is unique and draws me back for more. The menu emphasizes South Indian cuisine but there are entries from elsewhere in the country. Vegetarians have an plethora of good choices. Dosas are a specialty, thin, crispy, and with lively fillings and chutnies. Paneer is served in many delicious recipies, and there are many vegetable curries. If you eat meat, then you open the door to the spicy and satisfying goat soup, and goat biryani. The biryani menu is a great strength, order one to take home for tomorrow if you are already full. Service is very friendly but you must be patient if you come at a busy time. The food is worth it. I will be going back more times because there are pages of choices left to try. Although it will be tempting to order the same delicious choices again!

This is one the best (if not BEST) place to go for Indian food in metro DC area. The location is OK and service is SLOW but it doesnt matter after you taste the food. Taste of the food is just out of the world!!! Menu doesnt provide much details about the food. We have been there twice and ordered entrees by recommendation of the staff and they all turned out great!!! We havent find anything we dont love yet. Here are some recommendations: Aattukaal soup (Paya Soup / Lamb lag soup) --- AWESOME!!! Chettinadu Kothamalli chicken (Cilantro based curry) --- MUST TRY!!! Chettunadu goat curry --- Very good! I would highly recommend this place to any spicy Indian food enthusiast.

Been going to a lot of Indian restaurants around the DC/VA/MD area for the past 20+ years. Before, only went to Indian restaurant when Indian guests were over. I know this place is fantastic when Im going just to buy food for my self! Spice / heat of food is great. This place does not dial it down for others. It keeps it to Indian taste style. Thalis are very good, and is something to get every time going in for lunch. Have been going here since nearly opening, and food has been consistent every time. Only downside is when they are busy. I think they need more people to sustain busy hours.

Bumping down to 2 stars. Food is great BUT Service Sucks Big time. After going here many times, I can say that the service is very poor. Theres only one waiter mostly serving the entire place. Nobody cares to take you order for atleast 20mins. It takes a long time for them to serve you the food. I had to wait 35 mins for my food and they got me a wrong order. And I had to wait another 30 mins for the right one. Frustrating. Just good food doesnt satisfy customers. The restaurant really needs to improve service, or this business will die eventually.

Great food, fair prices for the area. We walked in and the place was full of Indian families, always a good sign! The food was very good! The service was below average, so be prepared to ask for ice in your water and water refills. The place is not dressed up like a high class restaurant, it looks more like a pizzeria with pretty curtains, but it smells great as soon as you open the door. The bathrooms were fairly clean and functional. Great family place. Recommended. We give it 4/5 stars for the reasons stated above.

You can tell if an Indian restaurant is good by how many indians are having lunch! Im from Kerala. We indians are very critical of restaurant food. First time here. Ordered thali. Very nice portion, very tasty curries, nice food. The pickle and aviyal needs work. One more Pappadam would be great! Thank you opening! I had my 2nd visit yesterday. Since last one they had a new menu. We ordered masala dosa, dosa and Sambar was very good. Coconut chutney cold have been better. But $11 for that was steep price !!
