As a manager in the food service industry I am acutely aware of the strain that is put upon by the notion of "the customer is always correct" as well as the difficulties of a disagreeable patron. That being said, I have visited this establishment as well as other Plaza Azteca around the Richmond area numerous times as it had until today been my prefered choice when I find I have a desire for the flavors of Mexican cuisine. Having made plans to join our friends for supper, there were no question as to the restaurant of choice. Upon our arrival, we were seated and within a fair amount of time, our server arrived to inquire as to our beverages of choice. We were informed the restaurant would not be serving alcohol as there were some issue with their permit in order to do so. Though our hearts were set on enjoying a margarita or two, we had no problem in changing our request to one more agreeable to the situation. Our server returned with our beverages, mine was incorrect, to which he was accommodating to my request for my inital order and not what I had been given (this would be the first of many missed steps on his part). Looking to my friend across from me, I sensed her uneasiness. Following her gaze, I realize our server was standing at an angle with his back turned to her husband (who happened to be seated beside her), his gaze intently upon her to the point of causing her discomfort (this display continued through out the meal whenever he happened to stop by to check in on our table). Having taken our orders and returning with our dishes, I realize after my first bite of Carne Asada, it had been over cooked to the point of being burnt (the better part of my steak had been simply chared black) though I had requested it rare to medium. Knowing my friend was uneasy and her spouses anger due our servers blatent disregard of common decency; I refrained from mentioning my dissatisfaction, giving our server the benefit of the doubt. Half way through my meal, my fork poised to consume another bite of my side dish, I was asked quite a demanding tone by the server if I required a box for the rest of my supper. Not only had he been ogling my friend, and my order was bordering on being inedible, I also felt as thought we were being rushed to leave. W/O inquireing as to our prefered format, we were each handed a bill for the less than acceptable service and food (with our server contuing to stare directly at my friend, his back to her spouse repeatedly.) This has been, if not my worse customer service experience then it is most definitely one of the top three. After some debate as to our servers less that acceptable behaviour, it was uninomously agreed there would be no tip(s). This was first time I have visited a restaurant and upon paying my bill, I refused to include a tip for my server. This will also be the last time I will visit this perticular establishment. I may give the other Plaza Azteca around town another chance but this is the very last time I would be visiting this location.

We went here for dinner and it was my first time trying Plaza Azteca. I had a Groupon that had expired for the promo value but was still obviously good for the amount paid ($25). We had dinner and when it came time to pay I enclosed my groupon with the check and sent it off. The waitress then came back and told us manager said "were not accepting this". First off, I couldnt believe the manager himself wouldnt come to the table personally and explain his case in a polite way instead of arrogantly telling the waitress to tell paying cusomters that "he is not accepting this". I was absolutely blown away, since I am a businessman myself and would never ever treat or speak to a customer this way. I then calmly and politely asked the waitress to bring the manager to the table so I could understand why he was denying my Groupon which I paid $25 to use at this establishment. He came over and rudely started off by saying those arent good here. I then stated that the actual paid value is still good for use on the bill, but he arrogantly assured me that I was in fact wrong and Plaza Azteca was no longer accepting them. He began to develop a tone and called me a "LIAR" for pleading my case regarding the fact that I had used other groupons at many other restaurants in the area this way!!!! I told him that due to his tone and the lack of customer service this would most likely be the absolute last time I would be dining here and instead of trying to make it better or being calm, he without a word, gets up and walks away. I literally couldnt believe he was getting a tone with me and worst yet, I have never had a manager of a restaurant call me "LIAR" for explaining my case. I guess I was also surprised that he was going to jeopardize a $25 coupon on over a 100 dollar bill for the fact that I was likely to never come back this place again. This will be the LAST time I ever go to Plaza Azteca, especially this one. I will make sure I tell everyone I know and my friends/family this experience and will urge them to never ever try this restaurant. MY ADVICE: GET RID OF THIS MANAGER OF THIS PLAZA AZTECA. I believe his name is David. He isnt helping your business at all.

I have absolutely RE-fallen in love with Mexican food! This place is like a plague here in Chesterfield, and its taking over a lot of the local Mexican Restaurants..However, that is NOT a bad thing! Most Mexican places have re-re-re-friend beans, very dry rice, and just okay margaritas..But when Plaza Azteca opened up in Westchester Commons, of course my friends and I would check it out. The service was great, the food..delicious, and the margaritas..ohhhhh the FISHBOWL MARGARITAS! haha. This place is definitely a go to on my list for a night out to dinner with the friends..or the boyfriend (which is surprising in itself, because HE is a PICKY eater and generally hates Mexican Food..But he loves this place too!) Glad to see theres another opened up farther down Midlo and now the one off of Hull Street has FINALLY made its transformation (because thats only 2minutes away!)

Got seated and waited almost 15 minutes till a service came over for drinks. Waited an additional 15 for someone to take our order and as we were trying to order apparently the table next to us received below par food so the server totally ignore my wifes request for no mushroom on her meal and proceeded to help the other table with not so much as an excuse me or ill brb. Couldnt tell the servers name bc he wasnt wearing a name badge and once we completed our order and received our food, he didnt come back till we all had finished eating. Possibly the worst service ever...oh did i mention we had a group of five, how could someone neglect a table of five? Guess he doesnt want a tip...
