I would make a suggestions ..... 1. Put outdoor chairs on the porch, 2. Turn on the A.C. during peak traffic hours. 3. Have more hostess during peak traffic hours to welcome customers and retain their business at time of visit. I say all those suggestions from a visiting small business analyst (with a laymans) point of view to help propel the establishments successful growth. Beyond my critics as a prompinent traveler I did sense a hospitable Mexican vibe. That spirit is most importante. I interacted with the people that represents the cuisine... In this case hispanic/Spanish/Mexican... hint hint... continuously try to employ because they know the culture, food, etc. Muy bien!

Let me begin by stating that I am Hispanic and come from a Hispanic family. I am well acquainted with central Mexican food and havent found many places in NY that can actually claim to have true Mexican food. Itacate is, without a doubt, the best Mexican restaurant I have been to in NY state. The food is truly authentic Mexican, not the standard Americanized Tex-Mex. They use fresh ingredients and make almost everything fresh in house. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the food and conscientious of individual tastes and needs. I felt like I had stepped into a little patch of the Mexican countryside and loved every minute of it.

I went here for the first time last night, with a friend for her birthday. We didnt have a reservation, but were seated quickly. The decor was simple and traditional. Some of the chairs needed some upkeep, but overall everything looked fine. Our waitress was friendly and was able to recommend a Margarita - the house Margarita, and it was delicious. My friend got the soup special, which had excellent flavor, and the enchiladas. I had a combo platter with flautas. The food was very good. I have had better Mexican food in Rochester, but I would still come back here sometime.

Itacate is the best authentic Mexican restaurant in the Rochester area. We get there once or twice a month and have never been disappointed. From the chayote peblano soup, ceveche and fish or shrimp tacos to the burrito grande, everything is always fresh and delicious. And the owner, José and Paco down at the bar are always warm and welcoming. We love this place!

This place is awesome. We have been coming here for a few years, hosted parties there and keep coming back. The owner is friendly and helpful, the food is outstanding and the staff is usually quick and friendly. If they are on the menu, try the Tacos Campechanos.

Authentic Mexican food for a decent price. Stopped there yesterday for lunch. The service was quick and efficient and the food was excellent. Nice restaurant with a touch of Mexican charm. Wish there was a full menu location on the west side of the city.

Easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in Rochester. It doesnt look like much from the outside but its a great spot. Food and drinks are always on point. They also do live music and entertainment downstairs. Tons of parking available. Great experience!

Had a lovely experience last evening at Itacate. We waited a bit before being seated but it was definitely worth the wait. Our server was friendly and helpful and the food had a lovely presentation and great taste. We definitely will be headed back.

Margaritas were great, food was very sub-par. Didnt feel the need to finish it. Ordered the enchiladas and the tortillas tasted poor and there was nothing but chicken inside. Verde sauce was the one decent sauce. Beans were fine. Rice was overcooked

This is seriously the best Mexican food in Rochester, NY. Everything is fresh and very affordable. I recommend the frozen pineapple margarita with salt. Its also vegetarian friendly and they do substitution. Bring the whole familia!

Amazing in every way. Actually AUTHENTIC and FRESH food. The salsa and entrees were on point and the Mexican hot chocolate was to die for. Delicious food all around and the prices were reasonable. I cannot wait to come back!

Great food. The smokin margarita wasnt very good though. It wasnt spicy and was full of jalapeno pulp. The food made up for it though. It was busy but I went on Cinco De Mayo though so that was expected.
