Not really sure why so many people (on yelp, Urbanspoon, and here) are enamored with this place. It seems when theres another choice than El Cerro in Wilmington, people rate it better than El Cerro by that virtue alone. Not that its horrible or anything, but its definitely not spectacular. The atmosphere is really "plastic," for lack of a better term i.e. it doesnt really feel like a Mexican place, but indeed very American. The lights are much too bright for my taste, and the decor is very drab in color and tacky in design. As for the food, its okay. I can sense some lack of quality even compared to the "evil" El Cerro. I got a seafood chimichanga which promised shrimp and crab meat. The shrimp was fine, but the crab meat was some weird, bready, obviously processed/from a package junk; same with the tortillas (which were kind of funnel cakey without sugar). If its a lower price youre after and youre fine with sacrificing a little bit of food quality and at least a more authentic try at a Mexican atmosphere (minus the fact that most of the servers are only versed in the most basic of English), this place will work for you.

So this is the reason I gave it a 2 star. 1. The server was terrible. Took a long time to get refills on drinks. When we asked the "manager" (which wasnt really the manager... they told us there wasnt one) about it, he tried to blame it on how busy it was. We were the only ones there. 2. The food was bland. Im not one to be picky but the beef couldve used a LITTLE more seasoning. Chicken too. 3. There was 4 of us. And then a 4 year old. When we got our checks, tip was ALREADY added. Ummm no! I know for certain amount of groups, tips are usually added automatically. But when we checked around to see if there was a sign or something on the menu at the bottom, we found NOTHING. Also let the "manager" know of that one too. Of course, no comment about it from him. Will never go again

So I came to this Mexican Restaurant highly recommended from multiple sources quoting it to be "The most authentic Mexican food". That was clearly not the case I found there. I am really unimpressed with this highly Americanized place. The food was bland, the Horni Margarita which was supposed to be a "topshelf" margarita came to me with a lime green fake mix, it was missing the flavored part, the waitress said "maybe he forgot" after I pointed out the flavoring for the drink on the menu, I am afraid it may not have been a "topshelf" liquor at that rate. I have eaten authentic Mexican all my life, I know a close to authentic mexican restaurant when I eat at one, this was not it. The waitress we had was great! The bill for 1 person was $24 before tip, for one meal, one drink.

This restaurant is terrible. The food is mediocre at best. There are way better places in Wilmington to get Mexican. The meat was chewy, stringy, and soggy. The man forgot rice on one of my orders, even though we ordered two of the exact same thing. The waiter was sassy, rude, and unattentive. He also mumbled every time he spoke. They over charged us and when we tried to address the problem the man got very rude and tried to tell me I was wrong even though I natively speak and read English and the menu clearly stated the price I shouldve been charged. The man argued with me for at least 10 minutes all over a $4 overcharge. I will never go back here. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced. They will rip you off if you arent paying attention!!!!!! Read your checks!!!!

Yesterday decided to make our way to this place because we craved it and knew it would not be full of people. As we placed our orders we noticed that the server had a funny way of taking orders. By the time my wife’s order came out, it was wrong. When we let the waiter know of the error, he just put a face of “I am so annoyed” and we had to speak to the manager. We did not go there to get anything free, but soon realized that 5his is basically what they thought. I asked for our check, but even by decency there should of at least given a discount of the total price due to the inconvenience and the fact my wife did not want the order at all. Seems to me that the will all laugh it off and nothing will come of it. Last time I will ever go there.

dont see what the hype is all about. It took me 3 servers just to get a menu. The water took extra effort. Then one pushed me out of the way on my way to the bathroom. Attentive Servers???? Definitely not. The back bar smelled like stale beer, and counter defenitely werent clean. The server english got better of worse depending whether your comment involved spending money. I saw them walk all the way across the restarant to deliver one glass of beer and didnt stop to pick up a single check or ask how anyone in the house was doing. Very inefficient. They think there customers are stupid. This more than out weighed the quality of the food which was decent, but a 20-minute trip took nearly 2 hours. Thats a lot lost revenue.

Rosie was our server and we really enjoyed her service. She was on top of her work and brought us refills without us asking her to. My fiancé loved the arroz con pollo (best he has had in the area) and I really enjoyed my salmon dish. The chips and salsa were very tasty as well. For one beer and two main dishes the bill was $28.00. Pretty good deal! Nice atmosphere as well.

Hands down the best service of ANY restaurant in town. The food is freshly prepared with above average flair. Its a little better than you should and would expect to get in a mom and pop mexican restaurant as far as the food. They shine in the customer service department. They take pride in making it a real team effort. Cant recommend a better wait staff in Wilmington.

My favorite place for Mexican food. I especially love the Chori Pollo. Unlike some other local Mexican places this place isnt afraid to put spices in the food. I dont mean to say that everything is spicy or hot. I mean they actually season the food so it isnt bland. A lot of Mexican food in this town is pretty bland. I dont what I did before they opened.

Best Mexican food in Wilmington! Weve tried most places over the years but always come back here. Very tasty and friendly staff. Theyre happy to accommodate special requests, too. Be sure to get a frequent visitors punch card to earn a free meal or money off your meal (I think they recently changed it to a percentage off instead of a free meal).

My family goes here often and almost every waiter has been very friendly except for just one young female most recently who kept forgetting about us in favor of socializing even tho she was in my eyesight and I in hers. The food has always been good though no complaints there. We have rarely ever been disappointed there.

I ordered a chicken dish with broccoli and mushrooms, but what I received was only a plate with little rice and two pieces of soggy chicken. I can not believe they charged $11 for these. Service wasnt great either. I do not recommend this place.
