This place was AMAZING!! Today was my first going and I definitely will be returning. Let me start with the fact that the service was so friendly! Everyone was very kind and attentive to my boyfriend and I from the moment we walked in the door. He got the chicken and waffles and I got the chicken dinner. The portions are very nicely sized and the fact two people can eat there for under $30 shows just how affordable it is!. Our food was excellent! Which says a lot because Im from the South and am always disappointed when attending soul food restaurants. Not here!! I felt like I was eating my mothers home cooked Sunday dinner! I left satisfied, very satisfied, and the only thing they were missing was a bed for me to take a nap after finishing my entire plate. Please go experience this lovely restaurant!!! Bless

This place is im-mac-u-late! The chicken exkra beautiful, the waffles are super light! The service----the service was fast, beautiful, and generous. Its very local and a tourist attraction, halal as well! One of the best so far. They put the souls of the black ancestors in this food and laid my soul to rest! Bless this food. No Im not exaggerating and yes I meant to spell these words the way they are; its slang.

Great find: Due to flight cancelation we were stranded in a nearby hotel. We search for an affordable non-chain restaurants that would offer breakfast after lunch and this place appeared in the map. The place is clean and smells (to me this is very important) very good. The portions are huge, flavorful and the service very friendly. You can tell that customers are regulars based on their conversations.

The worst breakfast sandwiches I ever had. we have to wait over 30 mins while the joint was mostly empty .I ordered beef sausage egg and cheese with home fries on a roll x2 and and one with out home fries. the sausages small dry and tasted terrible... the potatoes where dry and chewy....The eggs where ok..but they where Luke warm at best ...the people where very nice tho..

The food is fine, the collard greens was tough. I ordered a vegetarian plate which was overly expensive almost 12.00 dollars with no cornbread muffin included. Their prices are ridiculous and I have tasted better for better prices in my day...Im surprise they not charging for butter packs, service was ok. This Kings was on Clinton Ave in newark, never again...rip off

Went here on my lunchbreak at the recommendation of a co-worker. First and last time, Cabbage had no flavor and my chicken was undercooked. What u dont see was the dry Mac and cheese i threw out or the rest of my fried chicken. The skin was good, after that it just went downhill from there. The more i tore it open the more blood was visible.

Love kings chicken and waffles , theyre Halal and very clean ... The employees are decent ,nice manners and prices are fair. I dont mind spending my money there because I know Im ordering chicken and getting it, if I order steak its real steak not fake and Chruch folks even come sit in on Sunday everybody knows Kings is official

It was family friend, but maybe I just got a bad waiter she acted like she didnt wanna serve me and even forgot some of my meal. When I asked her for the missing part of my meal she brought it out and it was cold like it had just bern sitting there. Food was great just gotta be better at greating people at the door.

I just love this staple restaurant in the South Ward. The place is clean, the staff is personable, and the food is delicious. I have yet to try something that i didnt enjoy. I love everything about this establishment. The newest accomplishment is the banquet facility that can accomodate a private function.

It took 30 minutes for me just to get a glass of water that i never asked for. Then it took another 10 mins for me to get the drink i actually wanted. THEN my order wasnt correct. THEN it took so long for me get my receipt i had to go to the front to request it. (P.s. beef sausage has no flavor)

Today the servers were not welcoming when you enter. I waited about a good 20min before someone asked was I i being help. The ladies where having conversation among their self and not attending to waiting costumers. When I finally order it didnt take that long, The food was delicious!!!

Very disappointed... the fried fish was disgusting.. the fried batter comes right off the fish as soon as I broke a piece off, and it was really greasy all for nothing... smh.. wont b back there anytime soon. I like Real Food, not frozen fried fish Bra

Very nice place and atmosphere. I felt like I was visiting my granny speaking to the lady behind the counter. The food portions were large. I could feed 2 children off the kids meal. I will have to try lunch or dinner at another time

Everything I have tried is really good. Whatever you already is going to be tasty. On the other hand, the staff can be neglectful of their duties, but are very kind and respectful. Ill still choose to eat here over many places.

Me and my out of town guest were very happy we chose to eat at The Kings Family Restaurant. Ive been a regular patron for many years and I chose to take a close long time friend and teacher to an early dinner.

Todays meal and service was disappointing. Eggs were runny, instead of scrambled hard. Waitress was MIA for periods of time. Not the usual pleasant visit.
