Connoisseur of Indian food and have dined at Jaipur restaurant four times now for lunch and dinner.. This is definitely Americanized Indian foods but still damned delicious! Very happy with the food and the service - my kind of place....! And I got few comments - they have Macchli Amritsari - Macchli is fish and hopefully from the big Indian Ocean - and Amritsar in inland - they must have a very long fishing rod to catch the fish! Also the Jhinga Mumtaz - Jhinga is shrimp and Mumtaz is a womans name - what is this a girly shrimp dish? Tandoori Jhinga - now if this is what I think it is - it must be absolutely fabulous - the best I have tasted is at Kirans in Houston. The Butter Chicken is excellent and kicks your butt right into Chicken Heaven. Then there is "Mass Ro Mazzo" - these guys need to figure out whether they are going for eats after a Catholic Mass of it is a relative of the Jewish Mazzo ball - or perhaps both. Then there is the Marwari Chicken - Marwadis are vegetarians what are they doing cooking chicken? These must be underground Marwaris. What is Hyderabadi Biryani from South India doing sneaking into Jaipuri restaurant. from North India? Seems rather suspicious to me. I have not tried the Lobster Tikka Masala yet - but if it is anything as good as the other tikka masalas, then the lobster must have crawled into the tikka curry as his last wish. The mango lassi is good to the last drop and the Gulab Jamun and Raas Malai are to die for... I like the late night desserts too - even though they close at 10 PM thats enough time to run down and get half a dozen desserts to go for family & friends. If you are an alien contemplating an alternate universe of taste you cant go wrong landing yourself at this place. I love the exotic foods these guys have bought to Lee Hwy and Jaipur is a cut above the rest without being all that expensive. The only complaint is that I am getting to be an Indian food addict.

I normally do not write bad reviews. But, this visit was very disappointing and if I an save someone else from the same painful experience that we went through, this review would be worth it. We went to eat out to celebrate a happy family occasion. We ordered Shami Kabob as appetizers, they were fine. We ordered Kadhai Paneer and Kadhai Channa (the menu described this dish as Punjabi style.) We also ordered lamb Sheekh Kabob and Raita. Here is my review dish by dish: Kadhai Paneer - paneer chunks mixed with generic bland sauce a bit on the sweet side - not Indian tasting at all. Kadhai Channa - not Punjabi style a bit. Probably the same bland sauce less sugar. We could barely taste any channa. Raita - too sour and insufficient quantity. Lamb Sheekh Kabob - too salty taste meat. We are NOT going back there and recommend that if you are familiar with authentic Indian food this is not the place to go to. Their preparations are not even Americanized, they are poorly prepared! I do not get it why this place is rated above 4 stars. I doubt most of the reviews are real.

Its such a shame that Ive lived in Northern VA my entire life and hadnt tried Jaipur until last year. This place has delicious Indian cuisine! Ive been here 3-4 more times after the first time and its always good. My favorite dishes to get are chicken tikka marsala, which is roasted chicken chunks in a spicy marsala sauce, and aloo ghobi, which is cauliflower florets with potatoes and spices. Im a spicy food lover (I grew up eating Sichuan cuisine and have pretty much burned off my spice buds), so I really like the hint of spiciness the chicken tikka marsala gives. I also really like the balance the aloo ghobi gives as a veggie dish to the chicken. Pair it with some garlic naan and rice and Im good to go! The buffet is also decent and I was able to try some other dishes. However, my favorites will still be chicken tikka marsala and aloo ghobi. Service is friendly, accommodating, and polite. The decor is ornate and the place is clean. A bonus: this place is also listed as one of the 100 Very Best Restaurants in the Washingtonian.

Food is certainly good, but this restaurant discriminates with Indian customer(even though who brings more customers and also pay TIPS at above PAR). I have been visiting and also ordering takeout orders from this restaurants for 4+ years( and ignoring these issues). I have Tiped well to servers and complimented owner lady. My kids has brought to my attention that on Saturday and Sunday buffet, the server never bring us the warm (neither timely) breads( they observed it multiple times), but does so immediately to the white customers. To test it, I took one day a white friend with us and we got two baskets of warm naan(breads) immediately. Given traditional Indian habit(of forgiving and ignoring), I was ignoring it, but my American born kids(who says if we pay and TIP), why this place treat bad. So I will go one more time after this writing ( in 1-3 weeks), but if the service is bad. There are other good restaurants too.

growing up eating indian food daily i have very high standards and this place not only met them but exceeded them. the location is sort of odd on the lower level of a building and sort of hidden but its worth finding. the food is good and generous in portion. its also very authentic but the staff is very friendly and i over heard them helping other customers make very sensible decisions on what to order. the service can be hit or miss, sometimes its quick sometimes a bit on the slower side, but never unreasonably so. if you dont know what to order i suggest the tali (literally means plate) which is a sampler of menu, offered in both veg and non veg, you get enough food in this plate to fill you up for dinner and a nice lunch the next day. if you are indian looking for some good comfort food look no further and if this is your first time trying indian, the low key atmosphere and friendly staff will help you.

I am from India and I have very discrimating pallete when it comes to food. The first time I visited Jaipur, I thought that the decor was good, but I found a tear in my seat which made me think that the owners did not care. All my reservations about the restaurant became unfound as soon as i was wowed by their amazing food. We ordered Niligiri Salmon and a veg thali. My wife who very picky when it comes to sea food as she is from the pacific northwest, found the salmon to be perfect. I found the rich coconut mint grave to be out of this world. Trust me, I have eaten in indian restaurants all my life and when I get this excited about a restaurant, It usually says something. We went the second time and ordered the exact same thing. Again the service, consistancy of taste and the quality was amazing. I highly suggest this restaurant. I rate this the best upscale Indian restaurant in Fairfax county.

My wife and I enjoy the weekend lunch buffet at this fantastic Indian restaurant at least once a month - usually more often. We have tried the lunch buffets at many Indian restaurants in NoVA, but Jaipur Royal Indian truly sets the bar in both food taste/quality and dining room ambiance. The servers are always extremely attentive, ensuring your table is never without piping hot freshly baked naan or beverages. For those preferring the ability to have a meal cooked to their own personal preference, dinner at Jaipur is also a delight. We prefer the lunch buffet as it allows us to sample many different options, but dinner is excellent as well. Coupons are often available for their mailing list subscribers, all major credit cards are accepted, and the place is kid friendly. If youre in search of some great Indian food in NoVA, you owe it to yourself to give this place a try.
