I can't speak for the food, but based
on the service we walked out. We walked in at about 2:30 on a Sunday and were told the buffet was only open for ten more minutes and we'd have to order from the menu. Fine. Looking now we see the website states that the buffet is open until 3pm.
We wait. The waitress walks by us twice and doesn't acknowledge us. My husband looks at his watch and notices its not yet ten to three so he asks the host of we can go ahead and have the buffet since we're still waiting to even have our order taken. He's told no, it will cost the restaurant to allow us to eat the food they have on the buffet. Uh. Ok I guess.
Still nobody bothered to approach us so we left. As the host is saying to us that the buffet is a waste I tell him that isn't the point. It's closing the buffet to us AND not taking our orders. As we walk out he tells the other patrons that I have an attitude. It's just now 3pm and we're seated at Buffalo Wild Wings right down the street with our food in front of us. Guess there was time for buffet if there was time for drama AND we still could get food elsewhere.

the food is good but the customer service is appalling. I ordered a drink that was too spicy (spicy iced tea). I asked if I could have that replaced. We have been to many restaurants hundreds of times and this kind of situation has never been a problem before. I asked for a diet coke, but they brought a regular coke. So I reminded them that I had asked for a diet coke. At his, the owner got angry and rolled his eyes complaining about how many drinks I was ordering. I ordered two only! Its not my fault that a coke was brought out! And how is ordering "two drinks" any different that drinking one drink, then getting a free refill? Because all the refills are free. I couldnt believe he would get mad at repeat customers who are spending $50 overall because of a drink that probably cost pennies. The all-time rudest restaurant experience I have ever had.

B E S T F O O D E V E R!...Dining at Sitar was honestly such a pleasure! It was flavorful, ethnic food found in a modern and chic restaurant. I cant believe there is such a hidden gem in Hagerstown. I had dinner with four friends and we ordered chicken tikka masala, chef special bryani, lamb champs, tandoori mixed grill, lamb rogan josh, and 2 bread baskets. The food and portions were amazing. Its a family owned and operated establishment and the service couldnt be better! Although the food was spiced perfectly according to our requests, they ensured our glasses were filled to the rim! Try the mango lassi too, Amazing!!! I went back the next day for the lunch buffet and it was just more pleasant surprises. A large selection, great food, and a wonderful price. Thanks for the best food Sitar and keep up the good work!!

Food was very good. Staff came off a bit cold, although I am clueless about Indian culture, and their presentation could be part of it ("When in Rome, do as the Romans do.") The menu is a bit pricey, however my girlfriend and I tried the lunch buffet and ordered a side of Nan (basically Indian flatbread), and our bill came under $25, which to us, is quite cheap. A word to the warning though if youre a iced tea drinker like myself. I shouldve known better, but even the iced tea is "spiced" with Indian spices, so dont expect a classic American version of your McDonalds sweet tea. Other than that, everything was great.

I was staying with my family just down the road the Holiday Inn Express and when we saw Sitar of Indian we decided to give it a try. It was a Sunday evening around 6 pm and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. My first impression was that the restaurant was clean and orderly. Wait staff were dressed in black shirts and pants. My wife and I ordered the "Vegetarian Thali" and our kids split the "Chicken Tikka Masala". Everyone enjoyed the food. My 7 yr old daughter said "We HAVE to come back to this restaurant!" We also ordered Nan and Garlic Nan - both were delicious. Finding this restaurant was a pleasant surprise.

This is an amazing place to dine that will leave you wanting to come back for more! My wife and I are vegan and find this one of the few places that we can go out to eat that have a larger selection of delicious entrees geared to our lifestyle. We have also been with family & friends that are non vegan and they love it as well. The people are nice & attentive. The food is beyond exquisite and mouthwatering. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone be in your first time or just wanting to try something new.

Great service and great food..very nice locally owned place. Offers great selection of dishes and indian beers...Had the Lamb Tikka Masala, which was just amazing...This is the only restaurant in the DC area I found that offered Onion Chuntney, which i only found in indian restaurants in Boston area, and after talking to the owner I found out that he used to own indian restaurants in Boston back in late 1980s and I went to that restaurant he used to own...Highly recommend this places for true indian food

Eventually decided to give this place another shot since I love Indian food and Taj Indian no longer exist :(. We actually got served and food was very good. Didnt like that they refused to make me chicken vindaloo dish mild; oh well I guess. Thier chicken curry is fantastic though. Service is still very poor. They stay on top of getting you water but, some of the wait staff have very very poor attitudes. However, the woman (I assume is the owners wife) is very nice.

Im from Washington, DC and Im a vegan. I was in the area and craved some indian food. I ordered the aloo gobhi (spicy hot), what I received was bland, no flavor at all. It was awful. The bowl of lentil soup was also bland and the portion was half a bowl. I love to eat food full with flavor and spice and this place didnt do it for me. However the atmosphere was nice, the waiters were great and they were reasonable priced.

I was in Hagerstown, MD craving Indian food. I found Sitar of India and decided to indulge my cravings and let me tell you I was not disappointed. I had yummy paneer korma and mixed vegetables entrees. The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! I would definitely come back here as the service was very friendly and efficient. The best overall Indian dining experience Ive had up to this point.

The food is amazing. My husband and I love to dine here whenever we feel like spending a little money to go out for a nice meal. The staff has been helpful although not overly warm. I would definitely recommend it though for their wonderful Indian food. PS - Were both vegetarians and of course there are PLENTY of options for us! This makes is another great choice.

Stay away from this wretched place. This place deserve only negative stars. I got filled by the relatively high ratings on Google+ . They charged 6$ for my toddler who didnt even have a full nan at this place. The number of items on the buffet were just 3. And they charge more than 10$ for this joke called buffet. Easily one of the worst Indian restaurants in USA.
