This was my second chance for this place. The food is good...not the best Ive had, but good. But the service is terrible. We went last night at 645pm. We were third in line and it took us 10min before we even ordered...this was because the register guy was taking orders in person, helping get drinks, taking PHONE ORDERS AND STOPPING THE LINE TO DO SO, etc. By the time we ordered, there were now 15 people in line behind us and the guy was STILL ANSWERING THE PHONE FOR ORDERS AND STOPPING THE LINE. After ordering we sat down at one of the dirty tables...every table had food particles on it and I never saw one table wiped off in over an hour there. It took 20min exactly to get our number called, which was a single order of chicken with two sides and churros. 20min! Almost everyone in the restaurant was waiting on food at that point. And when I went up to get the food the churros were not ready. I asked for them and the guy said "They are coming." Five minutes later my 2yo daughter and I are sharing our food and I notice the guy is repeatedly yelling a number over and over. I realized it was our number and that he wanted me to come BACK UP to get the churros even though it meant leaving my 2yo at the table by herself. Why type of place would not bring them out to you if they didnt have it ready, the can see your table, and you have a little child by yourself? I just felt the customer service was terrible. Never a single apology or acknowledgment from anyone that any of this even happen. Just seemed like their normal thing. Last time I got carry out and it was slow. But I tried again because the food is pretty good...I regret giving the second chance.

The best Mexican food in Charlottesville. Period. An unassming little restaurant with delicious dishes, flavorful seasonings, and a selection of meals that is sure to satisfy. The staple chicken dishes are savory and moist, marinated for 24 hours and cooked in a large charcoal rotisserie visible from the dining area. The churros are fluffy and sweet, and a pleasant way to end a meal while youre starting to digest your dinner or lunch. It doesnt really matter what you get, the flavors are all rich and vibrant. This place may be a ways outside of town, but its well worth the drive.

This place is a gem. I was in town working (performing) for a month and heard about it from friends in town I was staying with who mostly would take a bunch of chicken to go. I went at least five times. The tacos are outstanding and nice sized. The chicken is of course dynamite and juicy. However, I was obsessed with the seasonal soup (caldo). The veggies were not soggy, the broth was clean, and the lime on the side as well as the avocado added on top really completes the soup. My friends and I came here a few times after big hikes so it was the perfect meal after!

Excellent as always. A hidden local gem in the Woodbrook Shopping Center. Based on the popularity, they should be looking for a larger space. If they do move,I hope they stay close by. UPDATE- Nov. 16- Tried one of the sandwiches last time. It was OK, but not great. The chicken is the star as well as the sides like yucca and plantains. The churrros are excellent as well. UPDATE - JULY 18-17- Due to tremendous response they have expanded next door. Now much more seating. Still great food

So, so amazingly good! The food was delicious. The portions of everything you get is fantastic, a sandwich loaded with fresh mozzarella, a whole chicken breast, sandwiched between perfectly grilled bread, covered in tasty sauce. The service wasnt very friendly but who really cares, you pay at the register and then you eat. The only disappointment was that they give you a tiny sauce container and charge you for extra... come on, its just sauce.. delicious, delicious sauce.

This place has got to be one of our all-time favorite Charlottesville eats. Its a small place, tucked away in a little plaza behind a 7-11... but their food has us coming back again and again. Their rotisserie chicken is super flavorful and, if you like sweet corn, you absolutely MUST try a side of Esquites! Al Carbon has frequently been a favorite of our friends visiting from out of town. Great food, great choice.

Even though my first food poisoning was from Mexican food, this restaurant washed out all of the horrible memories. Their chicken is super delicious and their food quality, from my perspective, is really high. The family runs the whole business and that gives their food a traditional flavor as if you were in Mexico.

Yummy rotisserie chicken & the tacos are excellent! You can order 1/4, 1/2, or whole rotisserie with sides as a combo....the portions are very generous! The sides are all excellent & you order which sauces (& how spicy) you want. I highly recommend their churros so save some room for dessert.

I had the vegetarian sandwich. Most people probably come for the chicken. My co-workers all said that they loved their chicken sandwiches. I thought my food was pretty good. I wouldnt give it a 5 though. The atmosphere was your standard lunch or pickup place. Nothing fancy, but decent enough.

One of my favorite places to eat in Charlottesville. Awesome food unlike any other Ive had before. Very popular with all my friends and co-workers. Can be a little cramped in there and the food takes a little while to come out, but its worth it. The breaded cemita sandwich is my favorite.

I wanna say its the closest thing I have to Peruvian chicken, not the same, very different but its very tasteful in its own little recipe. We like it they are fast with service and very easy to buy when you have a big family as Peruvians we always celebrates our sundays.

Chicken is very tasty and feels fresh. I had two sides: fried bananas and deep fried jalapeños with onions. The jalapeños were awesome!!! Side orders are big and cheap. For dessert I had plain churros. Very good place for a laid back dinner.

The best rotisserie chicken you will ever eat! Also delicious sides (yucca fries, elotes, Mexican street corn, etc) with awesome sauces! Friendly service and since they moved next door, a larger dining hall! Great for families!

Tasty food, and authentic. I mean, where else in the USA have you seen Elote con Mayonesa and Esquites in the menu? Extra thumbs up for not including fake mexican food (no burritos here!)

Really good food. We love the rotisserie chicken. Some of the best we have had anywhere. The roasted veggies are wonderful and the filled churros top off the meal.
